Woodland Nursery Animal Track Field Guide Wall Décor #cricut
Hey Everyone!
Sorry for the long gaps between video releases, but that's expected when you have a baby. I'm trying to do better, and I have a bunch of video ideas in mind. Lots of stuff for baby and for the home. So, I hope you continue to follow along!
This project took me a while to make, even though it was a simple build, and I didn't have to create the cricut stencil. I have built this project before, but on a much smaller scale. This was when I first started woodworking. I still have it, and when I built it, I said to myself that this would go in my sons room. Well, after being in the garage for years, humidity, temp changes, and moving. It did some damage to the sign, and I was not a...

Simple Keepsake Box #cricut

Hey Everyone! Here is a short video of a simple keepsake box I made for my son. I don't go into detail on how I made this box, as it is as simple as putting wood together to create a box, give it a lid and a bottom, then BAM, you have a box. But with that said, if you are new to building and would like to make this, please feel free to ask any questions. As always, Happy building and I will see...

      I can tell you that it doesn't smell. But with that said, I have a gas fireplace. But this stuff is also used for grills and other high heat things, so once it gets to temp, it should be cured where there is no smell. I do hope you try it. If you do, please update me 🙂

    Kudos to you for sharing your project. I have a few ideas I would have handled in another way. 1-unless the wall is very irregular, not a great idea to glue the baseboard to it. 2-before putting battens up, I would decide where that top piece you made was going to go, level it and nail it to the wall, insuring the nails were hitting the studs. 3-then in case the floor wasn’t level, I would measure each place where the battens were going to be sure all of them were the correct length. (Yes, if the baseboard and top board are perfectly parallel, the lengths of the battens will be exactly the same. But that stuff rarely comes out that way in most cases. Last comment to clarify the glue thing-anything that is running horizontally can be nailed into structure (studs) and does not need glue. Not gluing makes it simpler if the baseboard ever needed to be pulled, like maybe by the electrician? However, the battens will not likely be located on top of a stud, so those I agree need to be glued.

    • @TheTravelingCraneWoodcraftMore
      @TheTravelingCraneWoodcraftMore 5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the input! Everyone has their own way of doing things. For me, this was the easiest. I'm not too worried about using the glue, and if I have to remove it, that's just a road I will cross later. I think it turned out pretty well. I love it, and it still looks good after all this time. If I do this again, I'll take your advice. Especially for the upstairs bathroom I need to do. That wall is jacked, and I definitely need to make sure I secure them to the studs. Thanks again for the advice, and thanks for watching!!

    Looks very nice. No issues with wood movement/cracking for the breadboard ends? I know alot of "experts" dislike pocket hole joinery especially for breadboard ends. It makes it so much easier though.

    • @TheTravelingCraneWoodcraftMore
      @TheTravelingCraneWoodcraftMore 5 месяцев назад

      Thank you! And, thank you for watching! At first, I didn't notice any movement on the ends, but when we got ready for the next event in there I noticed shrinking. But from the middle. So now the end boards are a tab bit longer than the center. I don't like it, but no way of fixing it. So I'm learning to "love" it. I keep telling myself, it's my first table and it gives it character LOL!

    • @TheTravelingCraneWoodcraftMore
      @TheTravelingCraneWoodcraftMore 3 месяца назад

      Oh okay., happy to help. Because of the humidity in my house, the wood expanded and contacted through the years and has made the inner boards smaller than when I started, which made the end boards seem longer. I'm not sure how to prevent that from happening, unfortunately. I guess the only thing I can say is to make sure the wood you use is fully cured, no moisture in the wood. You probably can find something on YT about wood warping after awhile, that should help. I hope that helped a little. I'm not the best at explaining and everything I do is pretty much trial and error LOL! I hope your table turns out awesome! Thank you for watching!! Happy building!!

      I love hearing this! For me, this was an honest review. There are a ton of wood burning tools out there. it just depends on what you want to spend. For the time, Walnut Hollow was a good choice. You can hold the burner like a pen, and that was exactly what I was looking for. It's better on the wood you can get at the craft store, but not on birch, walnut..basically hardwoods, which is what I was really wanting to use this for. So I alternate between the old burner and new. Hope this works for you! Thank you again for watching and your comment. Happy crafting!!
