I love this build! Been looking for something I can do with the limited tools I have. For the back windows, I bought a 4x8 sheet of 1/2 inch foam insulation, cut to size, taped the edges to keep the foam from shedding, and covered with dark material. You'd never know it was there.
@@jblurton3000 The foam is a great idea, especially if you aren't planning to remove it often. I ended up just leaving those back windows covered all the time. Well the one behind the shelving is nearly permanent but the other side now stays covered 24/7 with the reflectix. If I ever need to replace those, I'll probably go with the foam. Great idea! Thanks!

Hello there! Great video! Interested in how you made your reflectix window covering on passenger rear window. Is it just stuffed in the window space? It’s such an odd shape!😆
That window is definitely an odd shape. I took some rough measurements and cut out according to that leaving extra all the way around to trim. Then I shoved it into the window and started marking and trimming a little at a time until it fit snuggly. I've heard others say it will shrink some in the heat so I left a tad extra all around it which helps hold it into place.

Right now my Suburban is getting 16 miles per gallon. It has almost 300,000 miles on it and is a 4wd. I was initially getting 18-19 mpg when I bought it but had 150,000 miles already on it. The cargo area is 49 inches across and almost 9 feet from the liftgate to the back of the console (with front seats moved forward.) If I leave the front seats in typical sitting position, it is slightly over 8 feet. Hope this helps.
@@MtnWanderer-TieDye- Thanks so much. That’s about what I get but I have diesel and pay $2 more a gallon here in Maine. I'm not sure how the 2017 is made. I pulled out my third row seats since I never use them. None of my seats fold down into the floor like some other vehicles do. I do know that my ceiling is a little higher in the cargo area than in the second row and forward sitting area.
I recently bought a Suburban to do the same thing in it and then we went to a campground and it sign said "No camping in non recreational vehicles" or something to that affect. Have you experienced that and how do you beat that rule being that you are actually sleeping in a non recreational vehicle?
Yes, I've run into that. I put a tent up as a decoy then slipped into the vehicle when I was ready to sleep. A lot of people use a tent decoy to get around the "rules". It's frustrating because there is no difference between a bed in an actual rv and a bed in a Suburban or van. I don't know what their hangup is. I've only had it happen in one campground, though.
Finally got a few measurements for you. The width of the cargo area is about 50". The length from the back of the second seat to the liftgate is about 66" and that was measured 6" from the floor to accommodate a mattress. Diagonally, the cargo area is 6 feet. The width in the second seat between door armrests is 59". I hope this helps.

@@MtnWanderer-TieDye- thank you for the info
Great video! What kind of cargo mat do you have? I need one
Thank you for watching! The cargo mat is a Westin Wade Sure-fit mat. I think I ordered it from Amazon.
@@MtnWanderer-TieDye- thanks for the reply! I’ll go check it out now
Hola
how wide is interior of the vehicle? I am 5'2. Do you think I can sleep in it horizontally?
My vehicle is currently in the shop but I hope to get it back by the weekend. I'll get some measurements for you. Thanks for watching!
@@MtnWanderer-TieDye- nice. Thanks
