Perhaps the most underrated and unheralded of all the songs from the Bond library from beginning to end. This is an exquisite piece of music. It is dreamily lugubrious and can take the listener away to a qiet cove on the ocean. I can close my eyes and let waves of melancholy and love lost roll over me. And perhaps the most mournful passage is the solo violin at the very end. It is love's last refrain. I had the privilege of taking a drive to Pittsburgh with Mr Hamlisch once and I mentioned how much I enjoyed this composition. It was 2004 and 30 years after he composed it he could play it back instantly. It is humbling to be in the presence of such genius.
Beautiful rendition of Ride To Atlantis, a superb take on Marvin Hamlisch's original score. I've listened to this several times now and it gets better with every time. Thank you Q the Music! You will be sorely missed!
Love hearing this takes me back to them on the boat and stromberg as face in the Atlantis window reflection starring at them. As a child this was always one of my favourite bits of soundtrack
This scene and the one before it wwew so powerful and sublime. The reflection of Stromberg watching the arrival of Bond and others was such a powerful statement and one of those small touches you don't find in modern script writing. The arrival of Naomi (Caroline Munro) takes ones breath away (her beauty, style, and presence). Interesting that they chose someone else to speak her words.
It is unfortunate that the microphone for the muffled/altered trumpet sound on this otherwise excellent rendition of the superb and best piece of instrumental music, "Ride To Atlantis" from "The Spy Who Loved Me"(1977) was not working properly!😢
Hi Michael, i'm not sure what you mean. The mics are working perfectly, and the sound is exactly correct. That's a harmon mute, that's how is sounds and is per the original! :)
This song has a dreamy, floaty and, why not say, aquatic vibe to it. A true deep cut from the Bond library. 😀
