Yeah, this got to me as well, as someone who has family with disabilities. I thought it was a perfect way to help. Kids understand that we are all different and accommodating for differences is key to being a good friend.
@@Rwhalt yes. The idea of " I don't see blah, ill treat you like everyone else" seems like a good thing but its actually quit toxic. You have to acknowledge our differences in order to build a better future not ignore them.
I absolutely enjoyed this episode. Great writing, great directing, great acting. For me, this episode was all about three smiles: KB's smile when Wim says she can just be friends with him and Neel, Wim's smile when KB thanks him, and Fern's smile when she sees KB go into action to start the ship. Subtle touches that really highlight the emotional beats of the story.
Something I noticed last night after rewatching the last two episodes -- in episode 5, when Jod is telling the kids the legends of Tak Rennod, the soundtrack is playing the tune of the shanty Jod sings here. Nice subtle foreshadowing there.
I absolutely love the scene with Jod convincing his former crew. Even though he's been made their enemy for who knows how long, he still knows them by name, and knows them well enough to convince them.
My best friend is TOTALLY a Fern, during our childhood: climbing mountains, skating down steep hills on his board, riding his bike across town when I'm afraid of getting exhausted and can't continue, then later privately admitting to someone he has no idea what he's doing, and I'm his KB. I would often think I couldn't object to how he is, his impulsiveness and boldness because that's his nature, he's always the leader in charge of what we're doing and if I did he wouldn't be my best friend anymore.
I love how whim didnt even know he was saving kb life until she said something and then it kinda hits him like oh. Becuase hes wanted this grand adventure and hes learning that adventures are risky and its not always what you expect
KB's little smile at Wim at the being friends with him and Neel is everything. Good for Neel though, he may be afraid a lot but he is not afraid to voice his opinion.
KB and Fern’s friendship is everything to me in this show, it’s subtle and well written allowing the audience to imagine most of the backstory (a la Obi-Wan telling Luke about his dad in IV) while setting in stone key past events of their childhood friendship and making it clear that they have a much more developed friendship than Neel and Wim but not invalidating that friendship in any way, shape, or form, they have clearly just been besties longer and while KB explicitly states Fern is her only friend, Fern is never seen with any other friends pre events of the plot, only KB, meaning that she minimum values quality over quantity in her friendships that unlike Neel and Wim where I get the feeling Wim would have liked to have more friends and settles for just having Neel, Fern WANTS to be KB’s friend. *sidenote since I feel considering Disney’s track record this may go this way, if Fern and KB end up as a couple in a later season in the show or later on if the actors when grown up cameo in a later project it has at least made some groundwork with this (Fern’s “NO!” in the last episode is very telling to me that Disney has at least considered the option) however I personally feel platonic female friendships in a non-“Girl Power” context are rare and severely underrated and this is one of the best examples of that. 14:13
I think this is the best Star Wars story of the Disney era. Just as an FYI, the giant trash crab was done by old fashioned, old school motion capture with miniatures, and not CGI.
I want to rewatch this episode so much but I can’t even get through reactions without getting emotionally invested. It hit me way harder than I would have thought!
I did not expect, of all things, a show that's apparently for kids, to do one of the best scenes in recent memory on disability representation (& not in a preachy, but touching way) And the kids - especially KB - Kyriana Kratter - did an exceptional job in the acting. Don't worry - I've sent that scene to several people and we all cried at it (I have several times) It just means a piece of art really hit the right frequency.
I love this show, in the world we live in today, I hink we all need some levity and humor. Treasure Island in Star Wars is so great. Love and respekt from Sweden.
This is getting me more than Ahsoka or Obi Wan shows did. I'm really enjoying this show. Shame people aren't giving it a chance, even though they claim to love Star Wars.
The more I watch this show, the more I realize how great it really is. It's possibly my favorite SW tv content since Rebels (Mando season 2 excluded). I hope the next seasons, and I think there will be more, just need to extend the time a little bit per episode (or drop 2 eps each night). When finished, I think I'll binge all 8 eps in one sitting, and it'll feel like one fun adventure film, i.e. Goonies (which I know it's been compared to ad nauseum).
I'm honestly quite surprised by how much I've ended up enjoying this show, I haven't exactly had the highest opinions of most of the Star Wars shows, and this one just seemed like the sort of thing that I wasn't the target audience for. And yet, it's ended up being one of the most consistently enjoyable shows we've had, the characters are so endearing and likeable, the dramatic moments do land quite effectively (especially the stuff with KB in this episode), and it's mixed in with some fun action, solid comedic bits and some really strong visuals. I'll wait until the last two episodes have officially dropped before coming to the official conclusion but I think this may end up being one of the highlights of the Disney canon, not quite on the level of something like Andor (which to be fair applies to the majority of this franchise), but certainly up there as one of its strongest entries.
I am so digging this show ( I remember first hearing about it and thinking oh great another Kathleen Kennedy show) I’m glad I was wrong! But . The last episode. That trap door every one was thinking either it’s a Trap Door or escape door. I think the ( pirate Captain ) would use it to get rid of ( Garbage and bodies) or live “Crab Food” which I think would be more sinister . than just a pit of spikes or a (quick way to go) those small crabs “seem harmless and even helpful. “ They can speak ( example if you are dumped there and yell help they’re repeating help) like A Parakeet bird. Help follow- and you do and then you get the giant “ Crabs and little ones-eating u alive??!! Sinister creatures
So I think Wym actually is Force sensitive. His instincts told him to follow the crabs. The crabs were a dead end, but if he hadn't followed his instincts, they wouldn't have had the resources they needed to save KB.
I love how Wim's line "IT'S TOO INVINCIBLE!" is like something I'd shout at the screen when fighting a boss in a video game.
The scene with KB and Wim was fantastic
Yeah, this got to me as well, as someone who has family with disabilities. I thought it was a perfect way to help. Kids understand that we are all different and accommodating for differences is key to being a good friend.
The most real human moment in all of Star Wars.
@@Rwhalt yes. The idea of " I don't see blah, ill treat you like everyone else" seems like a good thing but its actually quit toxic. You have to acknowledge our differences in order to build a better future not ignore them.
This series is sooo good
KB an absolute star this episode
Yay! We got the KB-centric episode.
"We gotta save our ship!"
*screaming*
I love these kids.
I absolutely enjoyed this episode. Great writing, great directing, great acting. Love that Wim got to help KB here just like he said when he was asked what he wanted to do when he's grown up❤
As a disabled person, I felt every word that KB said. What an amazing episode.
That’s it, Jess. That reaction to the big KB scene, that was just as emotional as I knew it would be. Man, that got me good!
Something I noticed last night after rewatching the last two episodes -- in episode 5, when Jod is telling the kids the legends of Tak Rennod, the soundtrack is playing the tune of the shanty Jod sings here. Nice subtle foreshadowing there.
A bit like how Jod mentioned Rennod's name in episode 4 before they reveal the tale of Tak Rennod in episode 5.
I absolutely love the scene with Jod convincing his former crew. Even though he's been made their enemy for who knows how long, he still knows them by name, and knows them well enough to convince them.
though if jod was willing to kill a kid over at attan, this lot shouldn't go and trust him so easily

The KB scene is my favorite of this series so far. And yeah, I teared up.

This show really is special. No one expected it to be this good. It’s top tier Star Wars.
I think this is the best Star Wars story of the Disney era.

You didn't over-react at all. That was a very sweet and heart-warming scene. I always enjoy your reactions.

Wonderful exploration of an emotional topic

Ironically, half the "fans" walk the dark path. These are the "fans" who say the only good part of Rogue One was the red lightsaber.

I would say it's the best Star Wars content since Clone Wars season 7.
Loving your reactions to this almost as much as I'm loving the show itself
getting ion blasted was probably the last we'll see of sm-33
Nah, we'll see him again. Why else would the pirates have taken 33 with them if he didn't have a further part to play in the story?

very elegant and stunning nails
“Thanks, Jedi” was more effective here than all of TLJ
You fell for Russian memes

hey why did you not finish clone wars ?
Hey I did.
Those scenes got us also.
