I am a retired National Express driver and did this journey many times starting at Swansea on the old 201 service to the airports H/Row and Gatwick, sitting at my computer and watching this video brings back so many memories . Of course this model coach was just a dream back in the 90's but the route and the atmosphere are the same
My wife took this bus a few years ago, and I envied her a lot for having this opportunity. Now I was able to see the ride while sitting on the couch, thanks a lot for sharing it!
I did a bit of coach driving back in the early 70’s but would love to have a crack at one of these now! Scania, MAN, Volvo, Merc. all great chassis. We had nothing like these Caetanos! Respect for the drivers!👍
Always found the 501 Nat express to Exeter very calming. Suspect the fact the vehicle is speed limited + plenty of torque it just floats down the motorway - all credit to the drivers really. Volvo/Scania regardless.
Having photographed this one and her sisters numerous times it was great to take a virtual ride with one. Superb videos with great captions keep up the superb work
I'd love to see a nighttime special - the city lights fade, replaced by the glow of the headlights and taillights of the motorway. Send me off to dreamsville.
Ever since they took over from the unsafe almost illegal South Glos Bus & Coach I’ve been meaning to go and work for them but I don’t wanna live in Bristol again Maybe next year even though I want to drive not pick up ppl luggage Beautiful vehicles
The buses in England have changed a lot. When I was in England, the buses were green, and the bus company was called Eastern National.I remember it as if it was yesterday.
@@NextSound170 Thank - you for the compliment. I speak about the buses in England, because I was born in Clacton - On sea and over there the buses were green. I now live in Mauritius a small island off the East Coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean, which is the country of origine of my father.
Instead of closing down the whole motorway, can't they just leave one lane open? Or just use a contraflow system. Also, why does the lane closure begin miles before the intersection?
I drive for Edwards in Bristol. I drive the Boa Vistas on the 040 nearly every day. The newer 18 plates are the better ones, they do 62mph instead of the 60 limited 66 plate older ones, plus their acceleration and braking is a lot less worn of course. Many hundreds of thousands of miles already on the clock for all of them. They are fairly comfortable to drive too.
I see a section of the M4 was closed to convert it to a 'smart' (dangerous) motorway, by changing the hard shoulder to a running lane. Highways England have been doing this work for years and it still looks like they have an awful lot still to do. When will this work be completed and the cones removed??
National Express Edwards has tables in it route 040 to London and Bristol National Express Edwards and more of the blockster 1 service in NIS of good coaches Edwards sit back real alx and enjoy your day
All public transport is the same. On the rare occasions I use local buses, I need to sit in the disabled seats as there isn't enough room for my legs in the ordinary seats.
'Keep apart 2 chevrons' bothers me. Why not paint half the number and make it 1 chevron? I was trying to listen to the hypnotically boring converstaion about football but it got drowned out after a while.
It's the distance between the chevrons that matters - if they only painted one, it would need to be enormous. We used to have these in Canada some years ago, but they've given up on them for some reason.
Think I know what you mean. However, one chevron twice the distance apart, that right, would mean idiots bunching up given the extra distance between chevrons. They are on the M5 approaching Somerset and work well so why change.
@@Thursdaym2 We have had these "experimental" chevrons here on a few stretches of motorway for decades. They still seem to be deciding whether to have them everywhere or nowhere.

Wow! The new buses in England are hotel's on four wheel's - beautiful.
Thanks for the video! You can hear two young lads talking about football. I enjoy eavesdropping conversations haha.
Incredibly relaxing.
Particularly with someone else doing the driving. 👍
✅👍
Unusual coach. Not too many Salvador Caetanos about.
This should be the only double decker in the current National Express fleet.
@@EurasiaTransportExplorer Wow well done in getting the video in that case.
You all have boring lives 😂
@@callumlyons1485 Well you are here too!

TRAVELED FROM MY HOME TO HEATHROW AND RETURN MANY TIMES 100% SERVICE DRIVER AND COACH
And I've noticed the buses are silent on the road, very relaxing, so relaxing that you could almost sleep in them.
London is very nice and my favourite I am your new subscriber from Afghanistan.
Excellent video. All those roadworks for an extra unsafe lane!

I have made 2.5K profit on National Express shares last year.
Ever thought of doing a National Express London to Edinburgh journey?
How about doing National Express coach 504 London to Plymouth via Heathrow and return

But last one was 38:14 video
Are there toilets on the buses?
Yes
At first I thought Bristol WVa...long bus trip to London UK....then I noticed the European signs
good video let down by the swearing in the back ground
The roads are nice and empty but this is due to covid. Usually much busier.
By Bristol Temple Meads
Think over to show the bus speed in between...
They need to sort out the leg room for people over 6ft!

This coach doesn't stop at any services for people to use the toilet and get a cup of tea and a sandwich.
like it but take away the plastic looks awful and does nothing
