Thanks, Seth! I got both Fresh Foam 1080 V10 and Mach 4 as daily trainers. Mach 4 is still my favorite of 2021 among all my others. I have bunion, this one never hurts. Taking it for a few 10K runs, a lot of cushion on the forefoot, but light, responsive, comfortable and enjoyable. Say goodbye to all my Nike Pegasus! 🙏🙏
If weight, price and responsiveness is a factor you should have considered comparing the Mach 4 to the Beacon V3 instead of the 1080. 1080 is more a alternative to a Clifton
i had a running camp in chamonix that got cancelled in april 2020.... if i could i'd do it tomorrow t'was a 5 day trip with different session in cross tranning, nutrition, postural, recovery expert....running in those utmb trail for 5 day 🥰 🙏
I like your personal opinion about the shoes you review. Other RUclips reviews feel fake and makes it hard to choose a new pair of running shoes. The price of shoes are so high it’s hard to pick the best out of all the shoes out there. Honest and real reviews like yours make me feel better when dropping 100+ $ on a pair. Running shoes all seem great 👍 but when you break down the shoe and the pros cons it helps me make a wiser decision before purchasing thanks 🙏
Alright, calling you out Seth! Hahaha. The Mach 4 didn’t work for me. Ended up taking it back and picking up the invincible. People keep saying the Mach is a high-cushioned shoe, but I felt that it didn’t have the cushion that the Clifton or the 1080v11 (and definitely not as much as the Invincible). Definitely more of a speed shoe and not a daily trainer in my book. Love all your videos, by the way. I’m obsessed. I work out in my garage gym or on my treadmill and just watch your videos on repeat. Ha. Keep it up.
QD: Asturias region of Spain. It's highs are mid-50's this time of year and it's one of the most underrated places in Europe. Very quiet compared to much of Western Europe with beautiful rolling hills. The region also includes part of the Cantabrian mountains. Highly recommend looking it up if you get the opportunity Seth!
@@brendonedgar2923 it’s a stunning part of the world. I’ve only ever been in summer but I’d love to see it in snow too. I also forgot to mention how great the food is too.
You need to give the new balance more love. It’s a great shoe. Definitely going to last way longer then the hoka. I do want to try the hoka after this video though lol.
Great comparison, that Hoka Mach 4 is growing on me. QD: I would run in Palma de Mallorca. I lived there for about a year and a half, and you could run there passed the water along the bay for miles & miles & miles. Perfect boulevards along the beaches & passed the harbour with all those amazing yaghts. Beautiful, Especially at sunrise, before my stint working at the airport.
The Mach 4 is such an amazing shoe! I bought the Carbon Rocket and returned it for the Mach 4 and so happy I did! I have a wide foot and the wider toe box allows me to fit without going to an unavailable wife size
Hi Seth, would the Mach 4 do 26.2 miles? Looking for a Marathon shoe without a carbon plate, until now i could only come up with the Endorphin speed. Thanks!
I just ran 830k each in 2 pairs of the v10 and now I’m in a pair of v11 and they honestly feel nearly identical to me! The tongue is really the only difference I notice! I love the v10 and the v11!
Got my pair yesterday. Im a Hoka junky, i dont have any of the carbon plate shoes, but all the rest (30) pairs. This new midsole is amazing. Id compare it as a better fitting, bouncier Rincon. Fast and soft, i love the way it feels.
Seth you were asking about a 'Dream session'; mine would be the roads and trails of southern Scotland where I grew up many years ago, trying to replicate the times on courses I did when I was a running nutter in my teens! (still a running nutter now). Many thanks for all the great reviews.
QD: In and around Inverness, Scotland. I visited there a few years back for a friend's wedding, and would love to go back and do some running. Absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks Seth. I have a taller metatarsal area than average so I have some issues with certain shoes and compression socks. I think the 1080 may be worth a shake
Flagstaff and the surrounding area! Reason- to go somewhere new and to feel some warmer weather. Would also be nice to stalk Walmsley.. maybe not so much fun for him though.
QD: The arches national park at night, seeing the arches at night is awesome to see. I would go because I hiked there once when I was not a runner and just loved it there
QD. We'll just be happy to go back to San Diego to see friends and family. No plans or dreams for international travel; we got a huge dose of that when we toured almost annually with the Cleveland Orchestra to both Europe and Asia in years past. We have thought about going back to Japan, though. Re The shoes: Since I already have the Hyp Tempos and Saucony Speeds I’ll stick with them for this category.
@@SethJamesDeMoor In the summer i walk (no running) alot on european cobblestones, uneven lanes and concrete surfaces (Prague). I have underpronation (not over) and flat feet (unusual combination). So i think the shoes need to have adequate foot support with a max cushioned insoles and durable outsoles with probaply some ridges and grooves for excellent grip (protection against uneven cobblestones). Im getting very mixed messages on what shoes to get. From Bondi L or 7 & NB 1080 to stinson atr6, gaviota 3, terrex free hiker and even Salomon X ULTRA 4. Please help me!! Which shoe do you suggest!!
QD: KEY WEST; I've been trying for years to run their 1/2 marathon but something always comes up; injuries, weather, lock downs, cancel races. I'm planning for 2022 or earlier if one is scheduled.
My problem with the V10, and looking at the V11 is that I have a high volume foot, like Seth described, and the fully gusseted tongue puts a lot of lockdown pressure on the top of the arch, which caused some metatarsal pain over time. I don't actually agree that it is great for a high volume foot, at least the V10 wasn't. Still waiting for the V11 to make its way into the shop!
Agreed, same thing happens with me. It was bad at the start but settled down after a few runs, but now after a few hundred kilometres I can barely cinch the laces up without causing pain on top of my foot even with no crossovers for most of the tongue. The v11 looks a little different though so would need to try it on.
I had to go check, and I don't know the extent of accuracy on your strava shoe metrics, but the Hoka one one Mach 4 is one of your higher miles shoes. there are only a few road shoes that appear to beat it, and some I know you've had multiple counts of the same shoe (glide ride) that I don't know if they were broken out... the mach 4 really is loved.
QD: Assuming it would suddenly be summer, Kachemak Bay State Park in Alaska. Only been there once but it was a 40 minute water taxi from Homer and I just roamed endlessly on gorgeous trails by massive glaciers. Did need to watch out for bear's though!
It wouldn't be literaly my first choice on the world, but high up there those 14'ers there in Colorado. Always little bit jealous when you go up there. Only maybe not the best time of the year to do it :)
QoD: Oahu. Because that would mean my family was staying with my in-laws that we haven’t been able to see in over a year. 2nd NE, to see my folks who we also haven’t seen in the same amount of time. But I don’t have enough clothes to run in that weather right now.
QOD my choice of place to run would be the la palma island and run the transvulcania ultra marathon if you don't know it definitely check it out its my biggest bucket list race 😀
Your last couple QD's were "deep" I still don't have an answer for those. Today's QD: I have never had a passport, and never really been anywhere, but my answer is I think New Zealand, either island or both, it's the end of summer there, but it just seems amazing. It's no wonder they produce so many great runners. I think the north island is more populated and is where Lord of the Rings was filmed. The south island has sulfuric acid lakes, more bizarre rock formations. ? There is at least one specific trail that is super famous, maybe you know it. Someone here has done it, absolutely.
For me and its all about what fits the foot best I prefer the Asics GlideRide for this type of shoe. I like New balance and I think they've come on so much in recent years but Hoka for me is just to clunky.
QD: I when to Sorrento Italy on my honeymoon a 2 years ago and didn't get run as much as I would have like too, I spent hours just looking up at the mountains thinking about running when I wasn't actually running 😂. Seth have you ever heard of Silverlight socks? Just order some, fingers crossed hoping for good things.
I may be the only one who chooses the New Balance 1080 after this video, but my rationale is that I have developed Achilles tendinitis while running in the Hoka Rincón with a 5mm heel to toe drop. So I want to stick with a cushion shoe, but a higher heel to toe drop to take some pressure off of my Achilles.
Oh I thought you were wanting us to call you out because you gave the Endorphin Speed a higher grade. I'm basically a Hoka loyalist that's been wondering if I should pick up a different plated racer, used to run in Saucony all the time, and the NB RC Elite with that green color way has been calling my name. For me though, the game would end once Hoka joins the foam wars with the racing shoes. The Mach 1 is still my speed shoe, it's much different from what the 2 was, at least in appearance and definitely is much different than the 4. When I want to push the pace, in a training run, it's that shoe. It's also my track shoe.
I literally asked for this on Strava yesterday. I am so happy about this 🙏
Seth is going to be sole reason Hoka executives get their bonus this year. 😁. I can’t wait to try the Mach 4.
Just preordered the Mach 4. Super excited!
Ran there in the past and can confirm its one of the most beautiful places to run! Easy to get lost tho lol
I’m tempted as well, have just for the 1080 though 🤷🏼♂️😂
Japan, definitely! That country is beautiful!

Either the Grand Canyon just to experience something so vast in such a unique way, or a trail somewhere in Canada to appreciate the cold and snow ❄️
Waiting for this shoe next month because of your initial review!

Hello DGR-Hoka Mach 4 is now ready for pre order, Hoka website-Seth has mentioned it will be a top contender for shoe of the year 2021

Yes I was waiting for this one

QD: i would choose Denver, Colorado area because I live in Bangkok; run at sea level with no nearby mountains and no Andy's
You’ve already made lots of videos about the Mach 4, but I would love to see a battle between it and the Clifton 7
Interested in a Mach 4 and NB Rebel 2 as many have these two as early favorites for shoe of the year.
Can't wait for mach 4.. I hope we'll have it in Greece asap!!

Somewhere in Peru because I have never been, it is summer there and it's -15 here in Minnesota
