So I'm confused as to whether James is trans or this is for the sake of disguise. I recall them saying that "I was never one to fit in any mould" so does this imply gender fluidity? I mean, either way they are hella gorgeous & badass.

They are trans, it wasn't exactly specified in the anime but in the manga there is a whole scene where he talks about being recognised as a man and that he is a man

Her identity as Irene was in danger because she was too exposed and also the crown was chasing her, so the Moriartys to save her, faked her death and gave her a new (male) identity so that she could continue living in the shadows. Since her previous identity as Irene was already publicly declared dead, now living a new life as James Bonde, "she" asks to be treated according to that new identity (being he/him). Therefore, he is now a man 🤗

why dont people understand that james is a canon trans, before you come up at me saying he went back as a irene adler meeting sherlock, i also read the manga, he had said that he recognise himself as a man and that he is a man, yes he came back as irene adler but did you know, one of the characters pretended to be him and him dressing up as irene adler again? it was specifically for a mission, thats why he had dress as irene adler again.

i know that that chapter was confusing for someone, but he just wanted to be with Sherlock as "Irene Adler" one last time. In his character profile he only uses he/they and feels embarrassed when Sherlock or John refer to him as a woman! :)
