Best view of the Milky Way I ever had was in the Australian outback about an hour outside of Alice Springs. No lights around for miles but the sky was on fire with all the stars and everything. It was amazing, humbling and made you feel part of the cosmos at the same time.

I have a PhD in astrophysics and have been struggling to understand the psychological conditions that result in mass delusion and an inability to make basic observations such as the position of stars in the sky or the moon or sun and then say that the earth is flat. After a long discussion, we agreed to me taking some photos of the planets through my telescope. After showing it to him, it apparently was CGI. Apparently „the government delivers CGI into your telescope via WiFi“. My telescope doesn‘t have WiFi and I was able to spot the planets with the naked eye:D
From what I understand from his video Mr. Arseholes didn't look at Saturn at night but during the day. As a result atmospheric pollution was visible and so Saturn had a blue tint to it making it look different from all the pictures he's seen and therefore he thought it looked fake.

I was a working countersniper for a goodly while. A typical 20X spotting scope will handily show Jupiter's Galilean moons and Saturn's ring and a couple of its moons. One night I placed my scope on the hood of a patrol unit, pointed it at Saturn and gave the gathered patrolmen a gander at it. One of them insisted that I had "put a decal" on the objective lens...

I've lost count of how many times I've watched this series. Partly (mostly, really) because it's fecking hilarious, but also partly because I'm trying to work out how these people were allowed to leave school, let alone reach breeding age. Do they make it up knowing it's shit, then come to genuinely believe it? Does anyone know if there have been psych studies done on those with bat-shit for brains? The rate of rotation of this array of lights is one revolution in a 24 hour period. 7. The Sun is a substantial source of light and heat that is sufficient to illuminate and heat the surface of the plane below. 10. At the time I worked there we would sometimes use planetary imaging cameras on piggback scopes to show Saturn and other planets on the monitors around the lobby area under the main telescope platform, but we used standard eyepieces in our main 10" refractor that visitors would look through directly, as well as on our 10" SCT LX200 out on the balcony. The point is, there was no way to fake that view; if he saw it at OSC in the observatory, then he saw it with his own eyes in the glass of the eyepiece.
The Kris Sadly there are many people who watch my channel and actually believe that, 100%. I seem to be a magnet for the crazies. I guess it's natural when you deal with things that are so far outside of the normal everyday experience of most people. So, the Schwarzschild radius for the 3 solar mass black hole is roughly 10 km. A neutron star with a mass of 1.5 solar masses has a radius of roughly 10 km. The Schwarzschild radius has to be less than 10 km, roughly 3 km. So if the Sun was 5 m (in diameter), then it would be a black hole and it would kinda miracolous that Earth hasn't been torn apart by the intense tidal forces of the black hole ( since the black hole would be 500 m away from Earth) or that life can survive being irradiated by the radiation being blueshifted by the blackhole.

I love this video! As an amateur astronomer, I sometimes get invited to speak to Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts doing merit badges involving space. The Scouts are attentive, open minded, and very curious. In short, they are great to work with. Their parents, not so much. The parents often bring up objections like those put forth by Mr Are Souls. Debunking them takes a lot of paper and time, more so if the parent never got past basic math. So, to sum up, I love that you put this video up. Now, instead of teaching a trig class to people who cannot reconcile a bank statement successfully, I can email them a link to this video. After a long discussion, we agreed to me taking some photos of the planets through my telescope. After showing it to him, it apparently was CGI. Apparently „the government delivers CGI into your telescope via WiFi“. My telescope doesn‘t have WiFi and I was able to spot the planets with the naked eye:D

From what I understand from his video Mr. Arseholes didn't look at Saturn at night but during the day. As a result atmospheric pollution was visible and so Saturn had a blue tint to it making it look different from all the pictures he's seen and therefore he thought it looked fake.

I was a working countersniper for a goodly while. A typical 20X spotting scope will handily show Jupiter's Galilean moons and Saturn's ring and a couple of its moons. One night I placed my scope on the hood of a patrol unit, pointed it at Saturn and gave the gathered patrolmen a gander at it. One of them insisted that I had "put a decal" on the objective lens...

I've lost count of how many times I've watched this series. Partly (mostly, really) because it's fecking hilarious, but also partly because I'm trying to work out how these people were allowed to leave school, let alone reach breeding age. Just *why* would anyone come up with such ridiculous "theories" in the first place? Do they want to get friends at their IQ level? Do they make it up knowing it's shit, then come to genuinely believe it?
Does anyone know if there have been psych studies done on those with bat-shit for brains? Surely that would have a large-enough pool from which to hook out potential case studies. It would be interesting to know the conclusions, should any be able to be found (and whether the scientists doing the studies would need some sort of deprogramming and counselling after completion).

I have only one very simple question regarding the Flat Earth Model. I am willing, for the purpose of simplicity, to stipulate to a number of Flat Earth propositions.
1. The Earth is a flat motionless plane.

9. The Sun is a substantial source of light and heat that is sufficient to illuminate and heat the surface of the plane below.

As a former manager of the Crosby Observatory at the Orlando Science Center, it's entirely possible that I was the one who showed it to him. At the time I worked there we would sometimes use planetary imaging cameras on piggback scopes to show Saturn and other planets on the monitors around the lobby area under the main telescope platform, but we used standard eyepieces in our main 10" refractor that visitors would look through directly, as well as on our 10" SCT LX200 out on the balcony. The point is, there was no way to fake that view; if he saw it at OSC in the observatory, then he saw it with his own eyes in the glass of the eyepiece.

The Kris Sadly there are many people who watch my channel and actually believe that, 100%. I seem to be a magnet for the crazies. I guess it's natural when you deal with things that are so far outside of the normal everyday experience of most people. When what they experience causes cognitive dissonance they can do one of two things; revise what they believe or disbelieve what they see.
For better or worse I've also started devoting more time to addressing fringe claims on my own channel, but I doubt it will do much good since most who believe it would also lump me in with "they."

So, the Schwarzschild radius for the 3 solar mass black hole is roughly 10 km.
A neutron star with a mass of 1.5 solar masses has a radius of roughly 10 km.
The Schwarzschild radius has to be less than 10 km, roughly 3 km.
So if the Sun was 5 m (in diameter), then it would be a black hole and it would kinda miracolous that Earth hasn't been torn apart by the intense tidal forces of the black hole ( since the black hole would be 500 m away from Earth) or that life can survive being irradiated by the radiation being blueshifted by the blackhole.

I love this video! As an amateur astronomer, I sometimes get invited to speak to Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts doing merit badges involving space. The Scouts are attentive, open minded, and very curious. In short, they are great to work with. Their parents, not so much. The parents often bring up objections like those put forth by Mr Are Souls. Debunking them takes a lot of paper and time, more so if the parent never got past basic math. So, to sum up, I love that you put this video up. Now, instead of teaching a trig class to people who cannot reconcile a bank statement successfully, I can email them a link to this video.
