The underside is beautiful for a vehicle of the age that’s for sure. Where the welding has been done up at the front seems to be very common from what we have seen looking at others of these campervans for sale. The one I saw in person for sale had also been welded there too. I said to Helen that when complete this will be one of the best examples of a Talbot campervan out there, and any purists that think otherwise need to be told to go and do one! It’s one of those vehicles that each year will need a bit of tinkering, and touching up here and there, but it will be so worth the effort to keep her in tip top shape. If it were me, I think I would want to add a bit more rust prevention on the areas that are prone to corrosion, just to future proof it, it would be worth spending £20 or so extra on now… By the way, Samantha watched it twice and she said that was 27 solids! 😉
🤣🤣🤣 27 solids, that has made me laugh! I knew he'd said it a lot. It's a great little van. Yes it's needs a few bits doing, but it's a good one. And they're not so easy to come by in any make, let alone a Talbot.
Oh no, that's a shame. I checked on my first car the other day. A 1991 Metro GTI. Bought it off my sister in 2002 when I passed my test. My most favourite car ever but I think it's now deceased.😢
Looks like you got a good one there guys, I had a 1990 Talbot (Sportsman) pop top version. For 10 years, rust was an issue, which I addressed almost annually, however good reliable motor. One thing to keep your eye on is the rubber exhaust mounts/rings every year they would dry out and Crack and several times my exhaust box dropped and dragged, I always carried spares for a quick fix on the road. Good Luck and looking forward to Helen's future adventures in this one. Take Care. Bazza
Thanks for the info Barry. Karl did say that one is cracked but there's a spare in the van, so that's handy. It's a nice little van and can't wait to get out in it when it's finished. Thanks for the kind words.😊
Good solid base on that vehicle, the rusty rotten pieces are what you could call cosmetic and will be a good looker when done. Plenty of life and enjoyment left in that. Good luck
Thanks very much. It really is in excellent condition, especially for such an old vehicle. As you say, just a few bits to touch up, but nothing structural.
That was the video I was looking forward to seeing. Brilliant news. You can crack on with the rest of it now. How long do you expect before it is all finished?
Hopefully a couple of weeks. It's nearing completion but the rain we keep getting doesn't help. Been awful today. Karl's been working inside and I've been in the kids house making curtains. We will get there. Enjoy your time in Portugal.😊
It's in really good condition underneath. It pays to look beyond the cosmetic exterior and turns out the most important thing is the underneath....what you can't see. My wee campervan that I sold was 18 years old and was not as good as this for its age it had to be welded around the jack points but for a 30 year old van yours is great 👍 BTW in your last video I couldn't stop laughing at you laughing! 🤣🤣
Hi Hope All Are well , Great looking underneath , Yes you have a good solid camper , Mrs B you should of had a dance LOL well Thanks for sharing , Take care All.🚐🌞👍👍👍👍👍.
Looks good and solid underneath, I’m sure Karl can sort the bit at the back . Well worth all the work you both are putting into it , good luck with your project, I’m really enjoying these videos . Take care Byyyeee 🚐👍
@@roaminginraymond It was a great weekend. They had put up a height barrier and nobody knows who did it. The town has responded by making parking down by the harbour and along the sea wall. The locals were friendly and no boy racers. We had a great weekend.
@user-ed7ft7mg8u you could have gladly had them if we'd have kept them. Maybe try the Talbot Facebook group. Someone might have some they don't want if they're renovating their van. Good luck with finding some.😊
Looks like the main rust has been sprayed over / in black primer with no prep before / it will probably need a new engine & gearbox / you ‘d be looking at £400 to sell it the way it is / otherwise someone would be taking a big gamble /
Why will it "probably" need a new engine and gearbox? Helen and Karl have said the units fitted are fine. I think you are commenting on the wrong video pal PMSL.

Looks like a cracking solid little van.
We love the older vans they've got so much character ❤
It certainly is and yeah, definitely got more character.

@@roaminginraymond I also see a new or nearly new rear exhaust silencer 🙂
Can't say I noticed that. You being eagle eyed again lol.
@@roaminginraymond And the new or nearly new windscreen washer motor... You know me, there isn't much I miss 🤣
Never noticed that either!😆
Wow, looks fab under there. Great find. I bought a brand new Talbot in 1983. I know it doesn't exist anymore 😢.

Solid is the word of the week - I have to say it looked bloody good for the age with minimal work - happy days
It certainly is the word lol. Yeah, really chuffed with what good condition it is actually in.

Absolutely solid 👍👍👍👍😍
Ha ha, that's very true.😆
Outside is mainly looking good. In fact- solid!
Lol, yes, definitely solid!
Absolutely solid😊
Definitely 😆

Oh dear its a lot to do!! It must be keeping you busy...going to watch some progress soon ;-)
Thanks Meraz and lovely to hear from you. Started watching your video last night but got disturbed so going to watch it now.
Looks great 😎 Seems like it’s been a good purchase 😎 Em 💜
Thanks Em.xx
Mines exactly the same Karl solid m8 friend, very lucky find really take care my lovelys 😉
Thanks very much Charlie. Yes, great when they're in good nick and a rarity too with a Talbot!
Wow that really is a good solid underneath, the van is a good one 👍👊
Thanks both. Definitely solid that's for sure.😁

Brilliant for 30 years old!
It certainly is Mary. And proper old school mechanics with it which is great too.

It is in really good condition. That was one of those moments when something just starts you off and you just crack up 😂
It's mint buddy a very good purchase
Thanks Steve. Yes definitely a good one.
That's one solid van, i use a product called Lano Guard on 1997 Mazda bongo might be worth looking at to protect the underside / John
Thanks very much John, we shall take a look.😊
@@roaminginraymond your welcome, the beauty is it doesn't hide things like underseal but really does waterproof and protect
OK, thanks. Hubby is on the case.😊

Ha ha, no dancing for me.😆
This is a really surprising little van, it hard to believe its 30 years old
Thanks Peter and agree, it's really clean bodywork wise. It was obviously well looked after in it's early days.

Yeah, Karl can weld so all good. Thanks Eric, glad you're enjoying them. Byyyeeeee
I get it, it is Solid. We just had a solid weekend at a solid spot that we were of the solid belief that they solidly hated motorhomes.
Oh no, that's a shame. Hope you managed to have a solidly good weekend anyway despite the Aholes.

Hi have you still got the original curtains and tailbacks I’m after getting them
No, sorry, they got used as rags and then thrown away I'm afraid.
@@roaminginraymond ok no worries just trying to get mine back to original

Not been out in the winter salt, keep it that way!!
It's been out all year round since I've had it. It's doing OK underneath but has had welding done around the windscreen recently.
I was singing SOLID SOLID SOLiD as a rock
Haha, I sing that song sometimes and I don't even like it!😂
Is it absolutely solid then? 😉
Xxx
What gave you that impression?🤣
@@roaminginraymond there was solid evidence!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
😁
Not much wrong with that. Easy panels at back to get to.
Yeah definitely, it's a good little van, especially for the age. Whoever owned it originally did the right thing and got it undersealed.

Engine is good. Gearbox has already been sorted with receipts to prove. It's a solid van, it's underseal.
Always one.🙄
You must be thick blind and stupid saying things like that. You clearly don't know much.
No, obviously doesn't.
Fantastic, it puts a lot of newer vans to shame. All the best. 👍🐾🚐🐾😎
You're right there Rob, it certainly does.
