Harrow is one of my favorite books of all time it is SUCH a while ride. That first moment when the second person POV switches over and Gideon says "You never could've guessed that he'd seen me" I WAS LOSING MY SHIT
when you said gideon is life and death and harrow is purgatory my mind imploded - i LOVE that analogy. i will return to finish this video when im brave enough to finish nona :''''')
One of the best series out there! Gideon is my favourite character and no one will ever top her (Except maybe Harrow 😌) The humour and memes in this series are unmatched. Tamsyn can never stop writing. And Moira Quirk's voice for Ianthe is hilarious! Given how Alecto is based on Barbie in her golden white outfit, I'd die to see Alecto in that fit on the cover. The covers are stunning! Tommy Arnold's drawing hand was messed up when doing Harrow's cover so he used his left hand to sketch everything and then paint with his right hand! The dedication and love everyone has for this series is amazing.
Omg you have those special editions, I want them but they're literally hundreds of dollars everywhere 😫 this series is amazing and I'm dying for them to make a box set when Alecto the Ninth comes outtttt
Perfect timing! I just finished Nona the Ninth and honestly, this series has become one of my favorite of all time. I have started every single book not knowing what the heck was going on, and finished them being devastated. Muir is amazing.
@@anavidreader277 yes lol. I feel like the third book Nona the Ninth was the least confusing to begin, but still kept me guessing for awhile. It’s definitely worth it in my opinion, though.
I love the locked tomb series with my whole heart! So exciting to see you do a reading vlog of the series. The books are also incredible re-reads-you catch so much you might miss on the first read through because of how much is going on! Alecto the Ninth is definitely my most anticipated release for this year.
WAIT THAT'S SO COOL WHAT Okay, I just went back and figured out the cipher. It's not that hard, if you want to do it yourself! But here's what it says, if anyone reading this wants to just find it out right away. "THE TOWER HAS REACTIVATED". No idea what that means, but I'm guessing it's about the tower in the River that Nona almost crashed everyone into? I'm so excited to find out.
i finished the series a couple days ago and it easily became my favorite sci fi series and one of my favorite series ever. I've actually never read anything like it is so amazing and I don't think I'll ever stop thinking about it
Just came across your page looking for Priory videos and I saw the Locked Tomb trilogy on your shelf and was SO HAPPY to see you released a video. This is my favorite book series!! So unapologetically queer and the story is insane. I cannot wait for Alecto. I’ve seen other comments say this but definitely re-read! It’s like reading a whole other series because Tamsyn puts so much in between the lines.
I looove love these books! They are definitely the kind of books you need to read twice to understand them. And then you need to reread them after finishing the next book bc you realize that actually you hadn’t quite understood what was happening
i literally held off watching this video because i had only read gideon and half of harrow when this video came out and i knew i had to finish the series before watching this and OH BOY i LOVED it and now i get to watch my FAVORITE booktuber react to it??? yes pleaseeeee
YESSSSSS, I have big brainrot because of this series. I didn't love it the first time, but after rereading I'm so obsessed :D Harrow is SUCH a great reread
Gideon the Ninth is one of my favorite books of all time. It was such an unexpected joy to read and I wish I could relive that first reading experience again and again. Watching you experience this series for the first time helped satisfy some of that urge for me! While I haven't gotten to Nona yet, your review just made me that much more excited to pick it up.
your reactions made me feel very seen bc at several points in my locked tomb reading experience i had to stare at an invisible camera bc BRO ARE YOU HEARING THIS ???
I really needed this video today, I love all of your content and your recommendations! Like 'these violent delights' I loved that book so much !! ❤️❤️❤️
Let me grab some popcorn 🍿🍿🍿 I finished nona some months ago and I was dying for some content. Seeing you comment "IRL" is such a blast. I remember reading nona and thinking about refugees. It was so sad. I need to re-read all the series, since I feel that I only understood 50% of the serie
This is the first of your videos I watched and I immediately subscribed. The Locked Tomb is my favorite series ever, I love that you love it and can‘t wait to watch your other videos!
Came here from cari can read's channel, after she mentioned this video on her February book wrap up! Halfway through the video and already enjoying your vibe 😄
What a hilarious reading vlog! I finished reading Gideon the Ninth earlier in the month (January 2nd) and wanted to get started on Harrow right away. I was confused for most of the time, but I had a great time just like you did. Your theory on the color scheme for Alecto the Ninth is the same for me. The gold would look great! Fingers crossed for me on catching up before spooky for Alecto the Ninth. 🖤🥀
Love that people recommended u the book so they can see u react to it🤣 if i had to choose I'd love to see your reaction to the MXTX books. I think you'd love the story of heaven official's blessing the most and the fact that its Longer Than The Bible would be a fun reading challenge.
im very curious about the series, so this is a huge help if i will give it a try or not! also, i love the cover of the night circus! may i ask where you got it? ☺
I always think it's funny that a lot of people think that Harrow the Ninth is the most polarising book in the series due to the second person writing. For me it got better with each reread until I now can't imagine it any other way. Nona on the other hand is probably my least favourite of the three. I just couldn't vibe with her as a character. She's fine, but the naivety gets olds really quick and it's frustrating to get glimpses of the bigger story through her eyes only to have it breakdown due to whatever distraction / lack of comprehension gets in Nona's way. It's only when she's almost dying and getting closer to reverting back to Alecto that she really starts getting interesting as a character and not just a device. But I'm just shouting random rants into the void really
I only read the first one, Gideon, but I couldn't get passed the tag line of the lesbian necromancers in space, which isn't completely true. I do really want to re-visit it at some point cause I keep hearing about how good the rest of the series is, also, the ending in Gideon makes me want to know what happens after.
Not sure if it’s because I listen to this series instead of reading it but this series didn’t grip me. Like I am waiting for the fourth and will finish this series and I haven’t really read something like this before but the writing didn’t catch me. Oh and Nona wasn’t for me and I think for me it can only be salvaged if Nona’s existence is explained by book four. Anyways, this is me just saying read the books instead of listening to them :)
Awesome video!! I'm just putting this here though for those that need this reminder :) " A person's heart plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps". Proverbs 16:9 Have a good day! ♥️
Harrow is one of my favorite books of all time it is SUCH a while ride. That first moment when the second person POV switches over and Gideon says "You never could've guessed that he'd seen me" I WAS LOSING MY SHIT
AND THE DINNER PARTY SCENE???
One of the most memorable moments in that incredible book for me, my eyes were WATERING when I read that 😭
when you said gideon is life and death and harrow is purgatory my mind imploded - i LOVE that analogy. i will return to finish this video when im brave enough to finish nona :''''')
“It’s finished. It’s done. You can’t take “loved” away.” And yet this book series took my mental health away
I was gonna wait until Alecto came out but damn… I might have to go through it again before that
@@AaronCasey92 welcome to the club darling, I just finished rereading Harrow the Ninth 🤝🤝🤝
a paul the sixth spinoff would EATTTTT
Alecto is gonna be green! I can FEEL it in my bones! (spoilers for nona: especially since alecto=earth and blue was already taken)
8:55 .... the way she navigated the various situations... the way gideon nav-igated the various situations...
the "commander wake-me-up-inside" had me SCREAMING😭like that was amazing.
John really is just a 21st century dude upset that no one will ever get his memes again
“i feel like nona is gonna be refreshing!!!!!” cuts to “i still love you” “you said that too”
"No House, with half grief" was a crazy reference
One of the best series out there! Gideon is my favourite character and no one will ever top her (Except maybe Harrow 😌)

I just finished Gideon and I’m glad I’m nit the only one who had no idea what was happening lol! Should I expect the same in the second one?
@@anavidreader277 yes lol. I feel like the third book Nona the Ninth was the least confusing to begin, but still kept me guessing for awhile. It’s definitely worth it in my opinion, though.

Also you’re reactions to reading Harrow were priceless 😂
you're on my rob list, those editions are so pretty 😭
there is also a cipher in the chapter titles of Nona 👀 (specifically, chapter titles that have two numbers in them)
WAIT THAT'S SO COOL WHAT
Okay, I just went back and figured out the cipher. It's not that hard, if you want to do it yourself! But here's what it says, if anyone reading this wants to just find it out right away.

I love how confused this series makes me. I need to read Nona still but Tamsyn Muir is a gift.
i literally held off watching this video because i had only read gideon and half of harrow when this video came out and i knew i had to finish the series before watching this and OH BOY i LOVED it and now i get to watch my FAVORITE booktuber react to it??? yes pleaseeeee
I’m currently reading Harrow the ninth and have Nona primed and ready! I actually love this series so much, it’s definitely going in my favorites!
YESSSSSS, I have big brainrot because of this series. I didn't love it the first time, but after rereading I'm so obsessed :D Harrow is SUCH a great reread
My first read of the year was indeed Gideon the ninth! I just finished the series and am now on the priory of the orange tree! 🪦
Yes!!! Welcome to the cult!!! Its such a wonderful series!!!
i JUST finished harrow the ninth yesterday so i’m feeling very: *screams* about this
I've just decided to finally read Gideon the ninth after 2 years of it sitting on my bookshelf - and now this video?? Now I can't WAIT!! :D
I struggled a lot with the writing style of the first book, but after watching this I’m thinking it might be worth giving the series another chance.
i literally just finished reading this series :')

I just finished 'Gideon the ninth' and now one of my favourite booktubers posts an entire video about it. I've done it, I'm happy.

So grateful that you said just chai and not chai tea (unnecessary tautology)
Let me grab some popcorn 🍿🍿🍿

I need to re-read all the series, since I feel that I only understood 50% of the serie
I really love your channel, you may not be doing this intentionally, but you certainly inspire me to follow my heart and always stay true to myself ❤
The way you can make a video that's so entertaining whether you've read the book or not is just amazing. Love this series.
This is the first of your videos I watched and I immediately subscribed. The Locked Tomb is my favorite series ever, I love that you love it and can‘t wait to watch your other videos!
I haven't read the series, but I did manage to get Harrow the Ninth for 99p so of course I will now be reading the whole series 😅 Great video ♡♡

Your facial expressions alone make me want to read this series so I can find out what the heck was happening when you made those expressions!
I was thinking the same.

im very curious about the series, so this is a huge help if i will give it a try or not! also, i love the cover of the night circus! may i ask where you got it? ☺
Did you read the short stories that go with the series?
Would you say this series is good for getting out of a reading slump? Its been sitting on my bookshelf for so long but I havent picked it up yet
