Front man singer/songwriter Andy Hull is, in my 63 yr old humble opinion, the best recording artist of his generation. I’ve been turning on to Manchester O for over 10 years. The 2006 release of Im Like a Virgin Losing a Child caught my attention for life when i heard the recording of Where Have You Been? Lead Guitarist Robert McDowell has been right there with Andy for the long haul as they have grown and continued to kill it with each new release. Powerful performances and a lyric and message that can’t be forgotten have placed this band front and center for me and many fans like me. Rock it men. Right Away.
wow, me being about a third of your age, there's probably not too much we have in common, but this opinion is one of the things we do. And I believe that's what makes Manchester Orchestra so great: there is no demographic. People who like good, well written, emotionally driven music backed by outstanding performance will at the very least appreciate Manchester Orchestra. It's great to see someone of your age who actually gives modern music a chance, without assuming anything released nowadays is all just 808s and face tattoos, and knows that the really good stuff just takes a little digging. Would really like to meet someone like you one day.
Sound better live than your studio albums much!?!?!? The trick is to listen to, learn, fully comprehend the studio albums first - then watch/see them live. I will never understand how with all the music that has been created, a group can be original in their sound now-a-days. A friend having been asked if he knew of them, questioned, who do they sound like? I'm still trying to come up with a comparison. The Million Masks of God - song-for-song has got to be one of the best in decades. So happy Manchester Orchestra is a thing... Let's all output good vibes.
I can't believe someone has been out there, releasing this kind of music, performing these kind of shows, and I never heard of them until last night. You just want them to live forever... If this is all you had...MOTHERFUCK, this is better than you could ever ask for!!
You too eh! I must of got the algorithm about the same time you did and I haven't stopped listening to them since. Now I'm praying they'll come back to Manchester here in the UK..
i mean seriously. i never even comment on youtube videos. this has to be my first youtube comment in 10 years. but this set is just RIDICULOUS. best band on earth.
Damn, I love this band. Seriously think Andy Hull is one of THE most talented, brilliant artists ever... And lucky me, I got to meet him. He's super sweet and down to earth on top of all that uber talent.
Following up ... it was 10 years ago ... my son, 20 at the time, came home from seeing this band live. Dad, you gotta hear these guys. I could tell he meant it. I listened. I was blown away. We tracked em down about a year latter and together we saw Manchester O slay ... dope. Andy and company are an important part of us now. I mean damn. Andy speaks to his dad thru his brilliant musical art. That relationship is like the one I have with my son. One of pure love ~ painful memories ~ joyous memories ~. Real life. Pale Black eye. I sleep alone. SIMple mATh
The River, live... absolutely spiritual. I was a passing Manchester Orchestra fan and got dragged to a show in high school. The whole set was incredible, of course, but the wall of sound this band put out with that as their encore... Oh My God is right, Andy.
@Renaldo Matadeen Foxing are such amazing musicians. I went to see Balance and Composure and they were one of the supporting bands, but they completely stole the show that night.
I hate bands that are ‘wannabe some famous band’. I think Greta Van Fleet sucks. They will never be who they are pretending to be. I almost gave up on that generation’s music because of their pathetic LZ persona. They didn’t qualify to carry Robert Plant or Jimmy Page’s jockstrap. Just one old hippie chick’s opinion. But these boys, oh my gawd, they are excellent!❤️😎 Annie
@@blondelebanese9922 😂😂😂😂 Apparently you don't know who the fuck Led Zeppelin was. Read the book about them, Hammer of the Gods. Where youll learn, they, too, like you say about Gretta, are wannabes. Jimmy Page was a rip off artist. His greatest songs with Zeppelin were complete & total rips from all the umheard of artists. All the old reknown blues guitarists... Jimmy added a wammy bar, distortion pedal, or celo bow, and it's the most astonishing shit anyone has ever heard. Well, that's only becuz he was smart enuff to rip off artists who were never heard of. You shit on Gretta... How many kids, at 15-16 years old do you know that are duplicating Led Zeppelins sound? Sure some of their stuff is exactly what jimmy Page did. Stolen. But they, too, do original music that fuckin kills. Quit hatin...
28:00 goosebumps every time I hear I Can Barely Breathe live! Even just the opening riff gets me now, and I'm in my own little world for the rest of the song!
Seen them twice in the past year in Houston. They are so amazing live. This show seemed extra spirited. Great camera with to capture them. So glad I found this.
It hard for to name just one favorite band/artist... But I will forever have a place in my soul for MO! If I had to pick one currently based on live shows alone, it would definitely be MO! That breakdown in shake it out always bring tears to my eyes, its just that powerful! If you have someone in your life that you love and they have never seen them live, you must take them, it is a guaranteed spiritual experience!
They are one of those bands that are much better live. I find their studio albums sound too "clean" I saw them back in 2011 in a small venue. Still one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
I have been completely obsessed with these guys for the past year or so. Watching this live set has solidified my obsession for life. I feel like these songs were written for me. Thanks guys
Got my first intro to Man O from this performance streamed live. My buddy had been raving them for a while, and I was instantly hooked. Love the more aggressive, heavy, and energetic live performances better than the albums.
Been a fan for YEARS, but have never had the chance to see them live. The emotion they put into the music is amazing. Can’t wait for them to come back to Austin!
Saw them on the Mean Everything to Nothing tour w Cage the Elephant and Silversun Pickups. Cage and SSP were very good, but ManOrch blew the roof of the place. The first 5 tracks on METN rock as hard and fierce as anything you'll ever hear. They have continued to transcend and Mile is as close to a masterpiece as one can get - with an astounding underlying depth, power and intensity, it gets better and better with time. I'm saddened it didn't get a better critical reception as it should have been on many best of 2017 lists imho but was tragically absent. I think many critics need to get over themselves. Really look forward to what's next from ManOrch. The finishing of I Know How to Speak was a real treat in the interim. ruclips.net/video/g0YbQuuz01k/видео.html
I am 54 years old and just recently discovered this band. I am wanting to go see them live this Fall. My worry is.....am I going to be viewed as too old? Is there one are better to stand in and enjoy than others?
@@Tiger1016. Thanks!! I did not make it as both venues were stand up only venues. Hopefully, they will start playing in venues with seats. Still love the music though!!! ❤
Love this band. I have been to a thousand concerts and performed in (paid) bands my whole life and can say they're my go-to. Just amazing authenticity, diversity, thunder, passion, and the rare ability to be humble and not take themselves too seriously. Go to The Stuffing in Atlanta sometime if you can. That's where they're at their best...their own hosted holiday hometown event.
man. i'm a huge fan of "similar bands" of the era. but as far as live performances go. none of the come anywhere close to MO. everything i've heard... singing and instrumentals. MO is in a league of their own. I have to see them.
Love this band Andy is class but from the addition of Tim on drums ohh good lord this band can't get any better I hope I'm wrong :I was wrong there new music as awesome but good to go back to the start

Totally agree 👍
Couldn't agree more!
Eloquently put dude. I’m 55 and looove these guys. My daughter turned me on to them when they were on MySpace for God’s sake. So talented.
One of the most underrated bands in the world. Amazing stuff
Easily one of the best.
Totally agree, love these guys
Music??? for people who don't know what proper music is.
Absolutely agree!!!
Agree wholeheartedly

1st time hearing this band, deep lyrics, they aren't blind & definitely pay attention to what matters. This band kicks ass! Blessings.
Wow, wow, freakin' wow. I just found these guys today. Totally blown away by their studio stuff ... and now this!
Try sleeper 1972 acoustic. Or where have you been... It was at a live venue that I cannot remember off the top of my head
Lollapalooza I think 2014
Fucking A man !
Me too... Holy Holy Fuck !

This band has become one of my very favorite bands in a very short amount of time.
I was there. Amazing show. That bassist is a bad ass.
Mykl Sorrells Andy Prince kills it!
Bad ass is right! Damn I was impressed!
Precisely, outstanding instincts live

That transition from Cope to The River.
Seeing these guys for the first time in two days from now and I'm STOKED.
How was the show?
I love when they do Gold at the end and everyone is either singing or crying. Fucking glorious set.
What I would give to be in that crowd with a cold beer listening to this set list.
Dat Bass Tone
Jason Eckard I love that tone
YES
Here for my annual rewatch of this show. God DAMN I love this band.
MY band. Get your hands off. But I'm down to share.
love it or hate it - this is what peak performance looks like.
The setlist was awesome, I really miss Chris he brought them to a different level live. He was very intense!
god why do these guys bring tears to my eyes within 0.02 seconds every time!!!
@Renaldo Matadeen Foxing are such amazing musicians. I went to see Balance and Composure and they were one of the supporting bands, but they completely stole the show that night.
Rock and roll is dead they said. We need Greta Van Fleet they said.
The whole time these cats have been making prim and proper rock and roll.
Greta Van Fleet fucking wishes they could play even close to this well.

The best live band in the world, FACT!
Have you seen Thrice live?
Erik Huisman I have seen both and I can confirm that sure MO sounds great live but Thrice sounds far better live.
Seen them twice in the past year in Houston. They are so amazing live. This show seemed extra spirited. Great camera with to capture them. So glad I found this.
The best I have heard since y days of rock music , love theses guys

The Moth hits hard
First time I've noticed Prince smiling haha, what a sick bassist!!
Bloody brilliant. Never miss them when thry come to Australia. Great stuff. Pride rocks first up!
The last 18 minutes are transcendent! I can't wait to see them for the first time mid-December! Bless you, Manchester Orchestra and Joel the Uploader!
Agreed.
It took 4 years for a full fucking show, in decent quality, to be uploaded to RUclips, and I've been checking for one weekly.
Fuck yes.
I was there, in my opinion, best of ACL 2018. So good I went see them at Emo's the next night as well.
Greatest band on the planet. Can't wait to see them at The Stuffing next week!
Fabulosos vuestros directos sois tan rompedores en este mundo tan comercial en la musica
Been a fan for YEARS, but have never had the chance to see them live. The emotion they put into the music is amazing. Can’t wait for them to come back to Austin!

Anyone else miss Chris Freeman on keyboards?
Solid upload, thanks.

I Can Barely Breathe is the best song they have ever written IMO
Wasnt expecting that in the middle of the set list, not gonna lie.. takes me back to 2006

That Hot One interlude to Cope is one of the hardest hitting things I've ever heard.
So brilliantly thought up
That tempo drop at @5:00 though 🔥
How does that guy play both lead and drums at the same time, live!? Technology is amazing.
