  • No good deed goes unpunished. My successful ryegrass oversow is still kicking the couch around. BUT, thanks to a viewer I believe there is a reason for it....allelopathy. Basically the ryegrass releases chemicals as it grows that inhibit the growth of other plants around it in an effort to survive. Resulting in the couch growing poorly. We need to wait for those chemicals to "wear off" and the couch will get going again, which I think it is slowly starting to do.
MASSIVE thanks for the information as I was feeling a bit deflated with the state of the lawn this year.
    Thanks again for watching.
Look after yourself, look after each other and look after the lawn :-)
    Nicko

Mate I also learnt the hard way. I prev kept my PRG in until Oct and then the Tiftuf really struggled to come out of dormancy. I now spray the rye out at end of Aug and it’s made a huge difference.

I was wondering why my couch wasn’t coming back (like last year, and every other year). ryegrass was ok over winter but I thought it would disappear. Thanks for your content, it’s great.
I need that plugger. Keep up your work, I look for your posts regularly.
However, Not sure about ryegrass, is not for me anymore. I’m now pinching sir Walter runners from mates places. Its doing well.
Love couch! but shade is my enemy.
Happy new year, keep up the good work

thanks for the feedback mate, comments like that really help keep me motivated 👍
I can't believe how much the rye has impacted the couch, pretty cool really, good old evolution.
There are some beautiful examples of buff lawns out there, and if you have shade issues it would certainly be the choice.
Hopefully you get it sorted and can enjoy the journey mate. Thanks and all the best, happy new years as well 😀

Enjoyed the vid, would like to know what sort of products you use on ur lawns, fertilisers, wetting agents etc

      Thanks mate 👍
To be honest I use a random assortment of everything. Because I'm always having to pay postage on heavy bags or liquids, I usually buy what is on special.
In the past I have used LawnPorn liquids, LawnPride wetter and granular. I really like the soil conditioners from Plant Doctor like Humic, fulvic, stimuliser, and seaweed secrets, I go nuts on thay stuff.
This year I have been trying the Lawnhub gear, because they are priced well and the postage is very reasonable $20 for about 50kgs of stuff sent express. I just put some liquid of theirs down and I am very impressed.
Ill try and cover that I bit more in the videos because I know I skim over it a bit
