Well Gerry great video, have u ever thought of just buying a mixed finished ration from a mill and simply feed it with silage or is it just cheaper to make up your own ration when all costs and time is considered. I d be very curious of the cost comparison of both methods of finishing cattle

When do you normally introduce beet into their diet Gerry? Cattle are looking well. I hope you get on well with them with the way the price of meal / fertiliser is going at the moment. Hope you and family have a great Christmas. #Team Green 🟢🟡
Enjoyed that video. With the way things are going, what options are available for putting through the feeder? When finishing off cattle, what would happen if you put in a high amount of beet into their feed. Would it affect their protein levels?

You should have done all the mixes you do for the cattle
That mix is fed to most cattle. The smaller cattle only get silage, wheat and pot ale. It’s not a very exciting mix
I'm interested in the building roof, is it fibre cement or an insulated sheet? Good video.
No they’re all galvanized sheeting
Do you ever have a problem with cattle choking on the whole potatoes?
A neighbour used to use them and had that trouble.

1. How does the Bicarbonate of Soda come in. 25kg bags or bigger.
2. Where do you get the pot ale syrup? Does it keep well?

Yes come in 25 kg bags. I’m sure u could get it in bulk bags if you needed larger amounts.
Pot ale comes from uk. It keeps ok short them but if left for prolonged period(over summer) it can crust over and become problematic when getting it out of the tank. But it’s good feed. Very hard to get now. We struggle to get it
How do you keep the cattle from choking on the potatoes? especially the smaller the smalller taters they try to eat without chewing
Small ones are the issue. Seed size. Luckily we don’t get much of them small ones…. We don’t have many choking issues thankfully

Great video Gerry, just curious do you have to clean out feed area before you feed again or do cattle clean it out completely?
Cattle will clean it completely as a rule. Although once a month we scrape out the corners of the feed boxes. We get a very small build up of dry material. So it’s not too bad

How do you keep them so clen on the slats
When their diet is right, they never get too dirty. Also if you Havnt enough cattle in the pens they won’t stay clean.

There’s nothing wrong with the one I’m using and I’m just keeping the new one as spare for now
