Did you see the new aeration pipes that Tom pemberton has in his slurry store to agitate the slurry they would be a good investment for your slurry store one day to keep the slurry in there mixed!
Hi again Phil, make a new-year resolution to de-horn every calf next year. Well worth doing and safer for man and beast. Another great video. I love looking at all the stock thriving in their winter bedrooms. And Oh, I had another one of your sirloin steaks this evening and it was excellent 👌.
Wish we could have one of Phil's steaks just to far to get it. When we come to Ireland again going to make a point of calling in .We just love Ireland. All the best.💯💯💯💯💯💯
Great video Phil , that’s very similar to what goes on in our yard except we would be feeding mostly dairy cows , we used to have a Keenan 100 until it was completely worn out then we bought a refurbed mech fiber 360 cw bale handler it has saved us an awful lot of time because it holds twice as much , we are feeding brewers grain and beet to the milking cows along with first cut silage
Yous fly through the work together. Great to be self efficient... hope the prices stick or go up as they should be but certain Mallon men are gettin it hard to give a fair price. Prices should be up at least 50c on what they are now
sorry to hear about Dolly, did your best with her. great video, could you explain a bit more the changes you want to make in the barn where its tough to feed? planning forward is really interesting. thanks.
Jaysus Phil I'm sorry to hear about poor Dolly, my uncle (lord have mercy on him) always said pure bred stock can be very hard to keep alive. That's a shame, but as you said where there livestock there's deadstock. A good rare Irish breed to try is the Bó Riabhach. I believe there's a farmer in longford trying to re-establish them. They are very rare and he's going around the country buying them up or letting his bulls out to cows. Could be good to look into. If I'm right they are a dualpurpose animal. Looking forward to seeing you get working on the forks, it's a handy wee machine for around the yard. 👍🏼
Is the diet feeder hard on the clutch of the tractor. Phil you should look at opening a mini farm and play area for kids.theres a few around where I come from and there raking in the money Be a nice follow up to the pumpkin patch
Great video Phil, just a quick note, try and reverse the diet feeder up tight to the face of the pit. It will save a litte bit of time when loading, plus anything that drops out of the bucket will be close to the pit to tidy up.
Great work Phil , that finishing ration should be powerful stuff…💪 would be interesting to see how the bulls will do on it after another month of feeding..
Regardless of weights you can see that they are thriving , I always find that the first few weeks of feeding are always disappointing , then they start to leap out of it , think it's as my father used to say " you have to get the lining in them first" ie. You have to build the internal fat before thy put on external condition.
Hi phill time to get that massy fixed and get out of the shed and back to work love your videos how many acres do you own would you not consider going back to dairying
I love the cattle videos, the big bulls look great. Will there be a difference in how the ones on the slats and the ones on the straw do or does that make no difference? Sorry about Dolly, such a shame but you did the right thing for her.
Nice Video Phil. How much kg of buscuit Meal are getting the Finishers per Bull? If your weighing Bulls who are not full there 5% left. Sober Weight is Live Weight minus 5%
You are right about the 5%weight difference the lighter the animal it can be a bit less and the heavier the animal a bit more! If animals are weighed first thing in the morning that is usually closer to their true weight!!
Farmer Phil sometimes it's very hard to hear you or understand what your saying. Please consider a Bluetooth mic or some other sort. I can hear you well when you are holding the camera otherwise it's all gobbledygook
Do you have any problems with starlings like the dairy boys always seem to? Eating all the grub from Infront of the cattle band pit? What's the big difference in feed quality of the maize and wholecrop. ?
Great video Phil farming the backbone of our country god bless you all and stay safe 🙏🇮🇪
Lot of work there Phil ,made harder by bringing us along for the ride, great content
Stay safe with this storm

Great video Phil. Hope uncle Ian is keeping well. Any update on the MF1200

Single auger tub feeder, with a rear discharge door on either side would speed up feeding to no end
Philip u could use yard scraper curved end one push in bits of u eaten silage in mornings
Great video Phil some amount of feed there the maize looks great stuff there is some mixture in each mix
That was a good feeding video ! Lots of work every 24 Hours and then you got more to do life of a farmer!! See you in the next one . your MN US fans.

Phil have you and father Phil went about fixing the 6290 in the workshop yet ?
Great video really liked the mix of chat and time lapse.
How is uncle Robert traveling since he last went in?
The old fella adds good to your videos j
Would be good to see the 165 out on the pusher, and maybe the 590 on the straw chopper...
Another quality video phil keep up the good work.

When are you going to fix that massey in the workshop. You must get fed up working around it ? I would make that my number one priority. Fix it.
next week
@@FARMERPHIL3690 No way really?
Maybe the week after 😂
How about a update on the cow brushes Are Jersey bulls or bullocks just used to make hamburger when sold
cow brushes are working away great, no beef is beef jerseys are used for all the cuts not just used for burgers

Great work tough about Dolly but ye gave her every chance
Great work Phil , that finishing ration should be powerful stuff…💪 would be interesting to see how the bulls will do on it after another month of feeding..

slates tend to preform better than bedded shed
Yeah remove the horns when you purchase definitely the way to go definitely 🐄🐄🐄
He should get the farmer he gets them off to do it when they are only a few days old far less stressful on the calf
Great Video Philip 👍👌
What is the name/ brand name of ur calf milker
Good to see the vintage tractors in the background. Any luck on the parts ye were looking for the John Deere?? 🤠
Yes we found them in America but haven’t done anything about it yet
Great news! b great to see it running🤠
Live that music reminds me of moog from mcm's music.
Can you please give us an update on the loading shoval
Nice Video Phil. How much kg of buscuit Meal are getting the Finishers per Bull?
If your weighing Bulls who are not full there 5% left. Sober Weight is Live Weight minus 5%
1.5kg a day

Hi farmers Phil, Hows the MF 1200 coming along and most important hows your uncle doing i hope he plough with it . Great video as usual .
I notice you don't de-horn or de- bud, what's the thinking behind this?
we dehorn some but we never get them all done. but ive found that calves that are dehorned have a higher mortality rate
A good video Phil where do you source the biscuit meal
milstream recycling
@@FARMERPHIL3690 thanks Phil hope uncle doing OK
Where do ye buy biscuit meal
You never told us about the batch of Jersey calves ...or did I miss it??
havent made the video yet

Phil, with the diet feeder if you'd to restart the pto on a full load would she be hard on clutch packs or does it make a difference??
i dont think so, we used to have a 3090 on an abbey diet feeder for years and it ever damaged the pto packs but the ursus cant handle it
Do you have any problems with starlings like the dairy boys always seem to? Eating all the grub from Infront of the cattle band pit?
What's the big difference in feed quality of the maize and wholecrop. ?
yes starlings are a problem we use the bird scarer but they've started to get used to it now.
maize is much higher in protein
Have you tried hanging a plastic owl in the shed or sparrowhawk sound on repeat.
yes but they get used to it
When are you going to fix the tractor in the shop?
When the pallet of time arrives 🤔
How much a tonne are ye making yer raion for
Is thr 590 still going Phil
Ya may get the sugar beet for bulls good video

Does the chopper process the corn/maize kernels when whole cropping or do they go through whole?
we have a mill in the harvester so all is processed
@@FARMERPHIL3690 that has to be removed when chopping grass right?
Where do you get your buisgit meal from
Millstream recycling in Wexford
What's your cheapest cow
Would it be possible for you to have more of your sheds slatted or would it be to big of a job
We have 1ft of topsoil and then your on bedrock so it’s an awful hard job to dig slated tanks
And expensive
Phil, what’s your opinion on the Prodig shear bucket ? Is it fit for the job ?
its been good to us
Phil is the older abbey tanker in the quarry field back going ?
no we sold it earlier in the year
Get the 165 out for pushing in the silage
Do you prefer straw bedding over slats?
cattle on the slats have always preformed the best
What kinda nut gun did father phil have in the last vid phil
Where is the ursus gone
How long does it take all the cattle in the shed.
They had to put dolly down he said
