I knew this one would be tricky to execute but BOY OH BOY did it exceed my expectations! What's the most difficult thing you've ever had to cake/bake/create??
I tried Italian meringue buttercream and it worked out great! I did it again and failed. I am going to try it once more to redeem myself. It is very fun to make, though.
The most difficult thing I ever had to make was a Chess♟️ board cake for my dad's fiftieth🎁🥳 birthday... SOO MANY pieces and all the different chess pieces. Let's not talk about the ⬛⬜️⬛⬜️ squares 😮💨😵💫. The best part was his face when he saw the cake. Thanks to you YO For the inspiration. 🤗🤗🤗
Definitely the 4-tier wedding cake for a friend. Four different flavours, different fillings, one a chess pattern on the inside, one on the outside, and a rice crispy marshmallow dragon covered and sculpted with modelling chocolate weaving in and out through all tiers. Took me a week.
Insane how it looks like one of the easier cakes she's made until she says that this cake was "absolutely defeating" her. It's such a cool cake. The arm was so intricate... Might have teared up when her cousin hugged her. I'm sure he was emotional. The amount of time and love that went into this cake. 👏 👏 👏
it's always the simplest looking cakes! Because the simpler / smoother the design, the more any imperfections or mistakes will show. And making this cake in the middle of a move didn't help
It's been years since I've been around these parts. Had to click on this video. This cake reminded me of classic How To Cake It - when each cake was a novel and expert exercise in photorealistic, simulacra cake construction. Glad Orhan is still here. Congrats on the new studio! I'll check back for more cakes likes this. May the algorithm, Mrs. Davis (lol), bless these videos again.
Your 😜 crazy, your amazingly talented! You have been my inspiration for years. Because of what you do, I have learned so much. Yolanda, you are overly precise, exceptionally thorough, and super accurate, with double back up plans. So, with that said, there is nothing you can’t do! You can cake anything! ❤
Kendra! It’s because of YOU I keep doing what I do, so thank you for being here for all of these years ❤ (and thank you for understanding my obsession with precision and accuracy 🤣 sometimes it’s hard to explain to others!)
I love all of Yolandas videos, I've been watching for a long time and she never ceases to bring a smile to my face while joking around and baking intricate cakes.
I have been dreaming about Yo and I think it because of how frequent I have been watching your videos, it Yolanda or nothing. Love ❤ you supper woman, creativity and accuracy 👌 👏 💯
Actually people love gross stuff being caked for some reason! Like my brain or heart cake, or the human leg. I know I will never cake any realistic bugs, too icky for me : )
omg I love it I did one years ago and it was hard to get the arm thingy right but the customer was able to spin the top like a DJ would , Cant wait to see you at the SOFO
I can’t keep stop saying how much I love this channel, and I can’t wait for how far this channel goes in the future. For Mother’s Day this year, I am planning to use one of HTCI’s cakes! Also, you should cake some government stuff, like a ship or something
When making a panel cake, I learned (from another artist) to put them in freezer (to firm a bit) then use to panel. They come back to room temp but are easy to cut straight out freezer. I always use this technique for this type
You said it jokingly, but an office desk cake with a chair would be so cute! Especially a vintage roll top desk--you could absolutely pull that off! Not a functional roll top, but just the visible lip of it maybe while it's "rolled up" would be adorable. And all the brass features!! With all your experience and skills, I bet you could make something really incredible and just go wild with all the accessories that could be added, like an old phone with the curly, pig's tail cord.
Very cool!! As always you outdo yourself!! I understand the extra pressure, but it looks awesome! And so excited for your new set and new cakes!! My idea of a "worst" cake would be a kitchen sink! 😂
This is timely; I have to make a gold record cake for someone this week, now I know how to get the look of the grooves on the record. Even though this cake gave you fits just know that it helped someone else!
Good luck!! I’m happy to hear I’m not the only one that wanted to make a turntable cake 🤣 let me know how it goes and ping me here if you have any questions while caking!
Yo has definitely spoiled me throughout the yrs of her decorating 🤭 I compare every person to her and no one live up to her 😂. Yo is such a perfectionist and others just seems …🤷🏽♀️ya kno … any who she’s awesome 🥰at what she does
Although it was complicated to make that cake it came out incredible. I've made my family's donut recipe which everything has to be the perfect measurements and temperature. Takes a couple days to make. Also a German sponge cake with fruit. Cake has to be just right or it falls apart.
Looks great! And yes, having someone request a turntable cake would make me super nervous! I did a cake that looked like a simple stereo speaker, and that made me nervous! Lol also, the worst thing to cake would be plain cake. Just a cake that looked like just out of the baking pan cake. 😅
@HowToCakeIt the most difficult cake I've made... a toss up between a 4 tiered Mexican tapestry inspired birthday cake and a Sailor Moon chalice birthday cake. Thanks for being a great inspiration for me to challenge myself with making difficult cakes!
I made one a couple years ago! ruclips.net/video/XBOnKe_allM/видео.html I also made a beach hat cake, if you are looking for novelty! ruclips.net/video/oYBq59czbLQ/видео.html
I would love to see you make cakes from around the world. For example, in Puerto Rico, for Bridal Showers and Sweet 15/16s, we make a doll cake. I know you have made one on your channel before, but if you made it again from Puerto Rico, you’d use a Puerto Rican cake recipe instead. I’m sure there are so many other countries with cultural cake recipes.
I made your italian meringue buttercream recipe again today. Have made it about 20 times before with perfect results. But today the merigue part was perfect and was completely cool when i added butter. The mix went soupy when i added butter but would not thicken like normal. It the separated and went sort of curdled looking. Any tips?
Belinda! This happens to me as well, and the culprit could truly be ANYTHING. Next time your buttercream starts splitting after adding the butter, try wrapping a hot towel around the base of the bowl or gently heating up the sides of the stainless steel bowl with a blowtorch while it's on high speed. This will help emulsify all of the ingredients back together and it works like a charm! Let me know how it goes :)
Yolandas team should write challenging themes or cakes place them in a bowl and every couple videos she should pick one out and make that cake and and they should vote on if it exceded the challenging theme it should be a series
Have you ever made a grand piano cake? What about a drum set or guitar (electric OR acoustic)? Orchestra instruments (clarinet, trumpet, cello, flute, etc.) I'm a musician, so thus I'm asking.
Hi Yolanda!!! Here's an idea for the worst thing to create from an office: *A dorm size refrigerator that has the typical leftover food from various people inside.* Now THAT would be impossible for anyone except you. 🤗🤗🤗
@@HowToCakeIt first of all, OMG HI YO! Secondly, like caking geodes or raw crystals would be super fun to watch! And with your creativity, I bet you could make them beautiful! About the stapler, I’m genuinely just curious how in the world you would cake it 😂 But I bet you could do it!
