  • Here's a gem for you PT fans. September 29th 1977, London. The video is not great, it's OK though, but I haven't seen another source for this broadcast. Audio is inferior to start from video source then synched from my own analogue cassette recording of the radio broadcast from 4mins in, so is fine from that point. The other half of the show was the legendary Lone Star, I uploaded that too..

      Highly underrated but musicians knew. They toured with Rush and Rush loved them. Go for what you know is a phenomenal live album. I’m assuming this is Nicko on drums. Probably right before he joined Maiden.

      @@tjnugent62 He sure had no trouble filling all the seats at the small football stadium at my high school in Plattsburgh NY Most of the acts that came to town were from Canada, Montreal mainly, which is only an hour away and whose radio stations we listened to since local ones sucked. We didn't get the big-time Canuck bands like Rush (God forbids!), Neil Young or BTO so we made do with Pat Travers (a favorite) Frank Marino, Gino Vanelli (for the chicks), and so on. But proximity to a big city like Montreal had its perks: they had the major British/Irish/US/Canuck bands playing at the Forum or sometimes even the 65,000-seat "Big O" as the Olympic Stadium was known as. I remember the summer of 1977 Pink Floyd and ELP played there. I couldn't attend (sold out) but went there often for major league baseball. Rooted for the Expos (NLB-East) like everyone else in that part of the country. Good times those were.

I didn't get up close and personal until the 90's and 2000's. we would follow his tour dates and attend venues that were close by. He was always cool and friendly and I always sat upfront. I would wear the same thing to every show; a Pat Travers t-shirt that said Real Rock for Real People that I got at one of his early shows.. LOL. Who knows. Sometimes the venues they play at are not as accommodating as the act would like them to be and it sours everyone and they just want to do their show and get the flock outta there.. Is that Pat Thrall on the other geet there yet? I know he was with him late 70's then Tommy Aldridge for a few albums on drums as well with Mars on Bass. Fantastic and magical chemicals at work with that line up. This is cool to see this just at that point when he was now using his Melody Maker instead of the Tele [big difference in sound]. Must be right around the "Putting them Straight" album. Those were the days. Life in London & Off Beat Ride :-)

    Snortin' Whiskey was a single that gave me interest in the band. Whilst they could be great, sadly they were a little too inconsistent to be major players.

    • @HarrisonFord69
      @HarrisonFord69 5 месяцев назад

      @@MaterLacrymarum No doubt about it pat travers and crew were great, another in a long list of amazing Canadian blues rock/hard rock/arena rock talent who never made it "big". Consistently solid tracks.
