There's something about Heljan Mark 1 coaches that just doesn't look right to me. At 6:45 you show the BG in blue and grey. To me, it looks really weird because the windows on the doors look far too small in height and it totally spoils the appearance. Compare the tops of the door window apertures with the horizontal bar across the windows next to them: the top of the window is only just above the bar. Look at a prototype picture and the top of the door window is halfway between the bar and top of the window ie the Heljan door windows are too low by 3-4 mm. The bottoms of the doors windows seem to be about right.

You mean each bogie has a single motor with a flywheel. Both bogies are powered.

The thing about Heljan is they regard couplings as an accessory. And the couplings can't be used with all the buffer detail so something has to go. Weird.

Heljan don't understand the marketplace, they do business in,it's a real shame.Since Ben Jones took leadership, from Model Rail,It just sems to have gone silly, lovely models, mechanicaly that fall apart just by gazing at them, with no consideration for accuracy.

The Ruston 48 'sir William Mcalpine', owned by Lawrie Rose over on the Lawrie's Mechanical Marvels' youtube channel, was actually the unit that Heljan used to take the measurements etc for this model. It is probably the only loco that could get me to go into O scale

I'll buy Heljan locos once they realise that their version of BR blue is way off.

They probably do,Heljan just don't care. When they show case engineering samples of new models and the public point out all the errors, they do nothing. They have no passion for the industry they are in,at least the British market.Their O gauge range of diesels, highlights this, almost every time a new era 7 (blue/full yellow ends/tops) model is released, the warning yellow is a different shade! Then they fall apart in front of your eyes.

My brother worked at Wolverton works in the 70s and each batch of paint was a different tone so no blue turned out the same without a little bit of extra mixing,😊,

Wow. There really are some Heljan
Haters out there. My O gauge class 50’s are lovely!,

these locos are only for the rich people. £600 for a loco, just stupid,

I disagree, it is amazing value for money, the main reason I dumped OO for O gauge. Bachmanns prices sky rocketed, over £350 for a class 47! and it made more sense to change scales.
Dapols 08 at £200 VFM and you dont need an house extension to start in O gauge. Thats just my humble opinion of course.

As I said below to another comment, O Scale is not a small undertaking and I think the product may be worth the price. The market for OO/HO is a different matter but their market research will have placed them in the correct bracket.

Heljan just like bachmann a complete ripoff the way there going with there over priced model's there going to kill there own market, people on low income just can't afford these models

Simples, don't buy them,if the shops cant sell them, they won't order them,if the shops won't buy your product, make it accurate and affordable,or make something else. The Heljan 47 is so bad,but Heljan want more than Dick Bachmann Turpin for a joke of a new model, vote with your wallett.

Why get so bitter. I like cars.
Most i cant afford. So i don’t buy them. And drive a cheaper car.
at least you keep the loco indoors
      Buy a brand new Mercedes.
Someone will open their door on it
or steal it. Buy cheaper loco’s. Simple,

      2 Bachmann tea wagons £100.
      I wanted 5 i got 2. Unfortunately i don’t
know the answer. Perhaps get a better job,

I'd suggest the market for O Scale is not of the low income variety for a huge range of reasons and the research that has been carried out would support their market placement. You are not looking at the train set market for Christmas out of the Kays catalogue paid weekly. Looking at what you get for the money I don't think these are too expensive. OO/HO scale you may have a fair point.
