Does the suspension need to be under load before tightening the upper control arm or the lower wishbone bolt? Im asking because of the bushing. Will it wear out prematurely ? I'm going to attempt this job strut and upper arm replacement. Thnx for the video Jim.
He changed the whole upper arm. I wonder if only the ball joint could be replaced on the control arm actually with ball joint servicing toolset on this model
@@petar443yes I’ve seen videos of it done.but I would inspect the bushings as well ,as it may be better to replace the whole control arm. They come with the ball joints pre installed 😊
This is one of Honda's more bone headed designs where the weight of the car is constantly trying to pull the lower ball joint out of its socket. I've seen more than my fair share of Civics Accords with the front wheel folded into the fender on the side of the roads.
best video I've found for honda accord thunking sound front suspension.
Wow, thanks!
Great video on how to inspect front suspension. Thanks

happy new year jim! changing the ball joint in that steel arm would leave it loose some would weld it the whole arm is the way to go
Thanks Jim, great video as always.
Another great video thanks for sharing it. I hope you are having a blessed fun New Years Day.

@@petar443it is but it’s a pain and I wasn’t able to press it out. Whole control arm isn’t much more

I saw a video of a mechanic using an extension and I believe a swivel and they were able to get the bolts out without removing the struts…. (1Aauto)
Always enjoy your videos, very informative and easy to follow. Thank you.

This is how all double wishbone suspensions are done. The alternative is MacPherson which is cheaper and doesn't control geometry as well.
