    You'd never have guessed that Ireland gets less rain than the UK per annum. Wild.

      Really though? Definitely doesn't feel that way, though Scotland could be pulling up those numbers

    Thanks for making a comparison video, Mark. Much appreciated. I still can't decide since it looks like both lenses come out both as equaly good... I guess it depends on being or a Sigma lover or a Tamron addict. Since I already have the 28-75 f2.8 and 70-180 f2.8, I might go for the 17-28 to complete my "holy trinitiy".

      If ya didn't already own the other Tamron Lenses the Af/Mf switch may have been the decider for you to go for the Sigma. I couldn't split them otherwise

    Thanks for the video bro! Great work. I have the Tamron and I can’t find a variable ND filter that doesn’t have vignette. I’ve tried bigger filters with step down rings too. Any help you could give me? Should I get a square ND filter that is bigger? This is only for video. Thanks! - Geoff

      Vignetting or the X pattern? Once you go above 5 stops on anything wider than 50mm you start seeing vignetting. That's why some companies offer 2 different sets of VND, 2-5 stops and 5-9 stops. Best advice would be to go into a camera shop and try out a 5-9 VND and see if you're still getting vignetting. I would always go for an 82mm so it fits all lenses with adapters

      @@MarkDuffyPhotography I appreciate your response. Thank you! I get the vignette and not the X. Good idea for going into the camera shop and testing it out. That will be better than returning filters by mail. - Geoff

      @Colorado4x4 glad I could help. I have the H&Y 1.5-10 stop VND & CPL and its usable til 5 stops for anything wider than 50mm

    I was on the fence as I have the Tamron 35-150. But the lens switch between auto and manual decided it. I like that convenience- all other things being close.

    I think the prices are wrong, the Tamron 17-28 2.8 DI III RXD costs 799$, while the Sigma 16-28 899€

    • @MarkDuffyPhotography
      @MarkDuffyPhotography  Год назад +3

      The prices listed are what's being charged in Ireland. So you can see how much we are being ripped off by tax on products 😒

    That front element moving makes Sigma a better buy. Either one is great though from many reviews I've seen.

      I had my concerns but I've owned the Tamron for a number of years and no dust has gotten inside the lens, but it is a strange design choice by Tamron

    Does the Tamron have stabilization?

    Doesnt the sigma have horrible distortion throughout it's focal range, like I saw in another video

    • @MarkDuffyPhotography
      @MarkDuffyPhotography  Месяц назад

      I shot them side by side and didn't find the Sigma to have bad distortion. I ended up preferring the Tamron due to its better performance with flaring.

    Tamron has for me an advantage : same 67 mm filter thread as 28 75 and 70 180. I, can use a 75mm square filter holder vs 100mm which is much much more expensive

    Sigma. 1mm is 1mm. I'd prefer to not have the af/mf button if it saved on weight though.
