I could listen to Benny play 24/7 and never get tired.
Robin Gustafsson but Benny will be tired playing 24/7
Is that a new time sig? Benny would know
Micah Carey
Could also be a polyrhythm
@@f-vex 😂
these cymbals are what introduced me to Meinl sticks (as they come with a pair in the box). I got some out of curiosity, and they are by far the best sticks I've ever used. After that, a lot of famous drummers started playing them (as they should, they are amazing). But now I'm starting to believe Meinl is incapable of making a bad product, whether it be cymbals, sticks, percussion instruments, or whatever.
Oh my dear lord yes. YES!!!
Hi!
You are the best drummer of RUclips!
Drum Beats Online I know wow
Brighter than most meinl stuff, but thin so they aren't ear shattering. I like this.
So much for having decided on my new setup...
Same here
Holy smokes, these cymbals sound absolutely phenomenal!! And they’re Gorgeous!
When the cymbals themselves become the actual actors in a leading role. Beautifully captured cymbal sounds and images in this clip. Kudos!
Heavy John Mayer vibes on that Jerry Roe track. These are nice some nice sounding pies.
Any idea where I can buy this Jerry Roe track? I just check iTunes and it’s not there. 🤔
I heard THAT!!! Hope they post the whole piece by Jerry Roe.
Does anyone know what the name of the Jerry Roe track is? Is it “strat copy” as in the description?
Meinls answer to Zildjian Constantinople line? I imagine these are gonna be a higher price point than most byzance cymbals so far.
i was just thinkin the same thing
i think those are more like the paiste masters
I don think so. They are Diril Sweet cymbal line. ruclips.net/video/yeTO0nXBP4o/видео.html
Stefan Aleksic No they are not lol.. completely different.
I thought the same thing
Oh, that was the most beautifully crafted demo video I've seen. The cymbals are just as good as the playing is.
Are we entering the era of cymbals sounding like cymbals again? Thank god.
I was thinking the same thing :-)
ffs yeah if it's too dark or dry for your personal tastes it doesn't sound like a cymbal.
Also how exactly is this new? Do the Byzance brilliant and traditional series just not exist in your world?
Whatever is that supposed to mean lol. There is alot of great cymbals out there, i play rock and Paiste 2002 is the best option by far, atleast for me.. you see we all have different tastes. Can you explain in what era cymbals sounded cymbals?
Hahaha brilliant comment. Also, this is just an artisan type of sound haha
These are legitimately some of the best sounding cymbals I’ve ever heard. Oh my God. If Michelangelo was a drummer, he would create his works with these.
Jerry Roe has an absolutely sublime sound, wow!
Why was every drummer so fire
Amazing sounding cymbals too
This is what all of cymbal production of the last 10 years has been leading to. This is absolutely the sound I've been looking for.
Didn’t realize that first drummer is JP for a minute, all sound great. The third set looks amazing
Who needs vintage cymbals any more when these are freely available?
Boy these cymbals are amazing. That 20" ride is SWEET, ESPECIALLY that bell.
Just wanted to say to anyone considering investing in these cymbals Just Do It . I’ve been playing more than 30 years now and yesterday I bought the 15 hats and the 20 and 22 light rides and all I can say is these are very special cymbals they do it all I feel like I could take the hats and just one of the rides to damn near any gig and make it work they’re so dynamic so full of sound it’s really incredible how much you can get out of each cymbal , a worthy investment so glad I bought these cymbals and you will be too .
This is what I call a good morning!
Me and my dad got to the local drum store a few days ago to buy my first ‘real’ cymbals and as I was looking around hearing every cymbal they had, there was always this ride that was just so beautiful in every aspect. The Meinl Byzance Foundry Reserve 22” light ride. So I mounted it on a vintage Ludwig drum kit and it grooved like craaaazy. By then I knew it was a Meinl ride but I still didn’t know the price and the ‘specialty’ of it because the tag wasn’t on there and I just wanted to see what I would pick only by hearing. So after a good bit of playing my dad asked what the price was... ‘€639 the seller said’, to which my dad looked at me like ‘HOWLI COW’ to which I said ‘ :-) ‘ . So we ended up splitting the bill and going home where I was playing my kit for 3,5 hours straight without breaks for relaxing my ears.
Moral of the story: get these goddamn cymbals!!!
They're on backorder. BUT I did reserve both light rides and the 18" crash, I CANNOT WAIT!! They just beat the hell out of Zildjian!!
i do believe so
I wish meinl would make the light ride in a 24" model. I have the big apple dark 24" but I wish meinl had more options for light to medium light 24" rides. Please consider it making it, Meinl! I would buy it!
Facts. No brainer.
Your wishes have been listened.
Just bought an 18" crash. The best cymbal I've played by far!
wow, that light setup sounds perfect. time to sell my liver
Dibs
looks and sounds pretty cool.. looking forward to test these!
what a sweet sound...totally in love with those Hi-Hats
Whoa. These! I'm floored with excitement for my next investment; this Foundry line.
Oh hell yes... amazing! That 22” light ride🤤
Hey Meinl. Please upload a full copy of that Jerry Roe track. It’s amazing and the recording of the new cymbals sounds incredible! 👍🏻
Zildjian with the special dry.. and meinl reply with this
Samuel Pg 😂 totally man
Meinl are amazing cymbals but I own a 19” Zildjian Special Dry crash and it’s bu far my favorite crash that’s ever existed.
Crazily, Meinl has large selection of cymbal sounds. Just CRAZY!
22" light ride and 15" hi hats sound amazing. I need them.
Me too! 😁
Gonna cost you a cool thou wow.
@@damienswan11 I know, they will be expensive.
the day they make 13 hats for this series will be the day i can die happy
I love how Benny not once really plays the 15" Hihat.
those. those hi hats. those are the ones.
Fantastic!!!
JP is in his bag. Wowza
Benny makes me a fan of all natural drum sound. Really different recorded sound from the bass drum.
Jerry Roe! Maaannnn That was one of the best recorded snare drums i have EVER heard. W O W.
man! the cymbals and the drumming - all superb!
I understand the sentiment of some who might be glad Meinl is releasing traditional sounding cymbals but I became attracted to Meinl through Anika Nilles who was always playing the larger hats and the darker cymbals that I thought were ugly looking but I really liked their sounds. At the time, about three years ago, I wasn't seeing these types of darker sounds from the other Big 3. Maybe they had them, I just wasn't aware of them. It seems Meinl specializes in them and their marketing machine pushed them. All that being said, I'm glad to see Meinl releasing traditional sounding cymbals too because I want them to succeed and be able to compete with the Big 3. Also, I've never committed to any one brand. I have cymbals by all the Big 3 companies but I'm beginning to wonder if Meinl might actually be convincing me to consider brand loyalty and switch to theirs. I just wish there were more places to hear them live before you buy because I WILL NOT buy a cymbal without hearing it first with my own ears. I won't even trust these professionally recorded examples. I have to HEAR them myself, each and every cymbal is different even if they are meant to be the same model
matt fathead it feels as if Meinl has definitely become one of the big manufacturers. I mean, look at their roster of endorsers.
Big four now, eh?
Most of the commenters do not REALIZE being big as a company is always a phase in time! Zildjian was the BIGGEST NAME in the 90's next to PAISTE. it was a decade of music and musicians that needed that sound. As of now Meinl has learned a lot of those companies, but their marketing and effort ( endorsees etc) are also calculated within the price of their cymbals. I am very sceptical toward "brand loyalty" because in the future it will always be possible another name will take over the sound of tomorrow. All is completely relative, the perception of humans. Sound wise or opinion wise
The sounds that i looking for 😍
Sands I own, and are my favorite. Hate to admit, Im preferring these over my Vintage cymbals!
Once again, incredible sounding cymbals! My bank account is going to take a beating! Ha! Stunning!
That 20" light ride!
0:59 this man is so into the sound of the 18” crash.
Dillon Bell Mister Greb grabbing the best out of this cymbal - as usual
That section is what's making me want to buy one...to me a great ride sound for a crash cymbal...I need something for my "Hi Hat & crash/Ride" setup, this might just be it
Gorgeous sounding cymbals. I wonder if what they showed was the entire line? Looks like I might have to switch back from those other cymbal makers.
Best ever Turkish Cymbals❤ best of all İSTANBUL CYMBALS
Now you need to make really good Low Volume Cymbals!
I'm a Zildjian guy. I know all about those cymbals. There's something about the KCon line that feels special, they're a recreation of a special cymbal from back in the day, they're a piece of history. The 22" Medium Ride still gives me chills when I play it, that's why I feel like Meinl just tried too hard when marketing these cymbals, they look identical to the KCons, they come in this special package with sticks and gloves, but as good as they sound, they don't feel special, they don't have that Meinl originality that I've always loved, that "oh this a Meinl cymbal" vibe, essentially they're just another attempt at the KCons instead of Meinl trying to make their highest end line special.
These sound pretty amazing, especially those hats and the crashes....
Now Meinl, when do we get low volume cymbals??? ;)
I like that idea!
I'm actually somewhat happy that I don't like them all that much.
They are great for what they do. A very hissing, very white-noisish / top-end heavy sound. The frequency spectrum seems to have a rather narrow peak with less body and more sizzle. Pretty dry for blank cymbals as well. Great articulation and presence without sounding glassy at all. There must have been tons of development work in that new hammering pattern.
Super thin stuff. Don't like the hats (too thin for me, no tone to the body either), don't like the rides (they sound strange to me, somehow the stick attack is pronounced but it sounds like the ride is muffled after that despite being so thing - weird), I like the crashes a lot though.
Great product, pretty individually sounding, but it's not for me. (And I'm a big Meinl fanboy.)
This series is nice (the hats especially, to my ears), but to me they're q pretty pale rendition of the Paiste Masters series, which does this sound...even better. The initial attack of this series is lush for microphones though, but for a heavily hammered 'turkish' style cymbal they're very clangy and have almost no body.
Beautiful
Wounds like someone wanted to answer to the Paiste Masters Dark series
Well, if this isn't, the best way to showcase a new series, I don't know what is.
This is the right playthrough for me.
These would be the only meinl cymbals I would buy
I see a few are using the 20in light ride as a crash...thinking of doing the same...yes/no or go 18in crash? 🙏
i´m actually a paiste Player but These cymbals sounds very good
Those hihats might well be the best sounding hats I've ever come across.
A pair of two cymbals makes ONE hi hat for fuck's sake people...
@@dxb8086 There were two different pairs in the video...
1:31 is it a proper song or just some demo for the video? I mean, It's amazing! Love the sound of these cymbals in this particular setup as well.
Peace
Trying to find the same...
When do these go on sale? I want them 14” hats and that 20” ride. They sound amazing. Even the 18” crash sounds so ride-able.
it makes me sad how good these sound.
They will make you happy if you buy them 😀😂
I will on hundred percent one day have the 22 Light Ride, 22 Ride, and 15 Hats. I’m so jealous that I can’t play those you have no idea 😂
**Played them yesterday at my local drumshop- They are slightly more rigid and have a bit more articulation than a regular Meinl jazz ride /big apple ride. However for the price tag :over 500 eur ( over here in Europe) I think they are overpriced . My experience with both Bosphorus & Meinl cymbals , the first are more affordable and have almost the same qualities as ( the similar in Turkey )hand hammered Meinls. I sold al my regular Byzances for a complete set of Bosphorus cymbals , the decision I did not regret, because they are far more affordable, have a better/different stick response and are versatile for a lot of music styles. That said, most of those comments are really heavy biased by BRANDING/MARKETING. In my experience I always combine cymbals from different brands to get the sounds I need . As of 2014 my playing is influenced by Bosphorus, Agean, Meinl , Sabian ..and even Stagg cymbals. Why go for one dish , if u can have them all?
Okay the cymbals sound great but can we talk about that amazing opening pocket groove?
"Would you like the extended warranty?"
"Oh I don't even have enough for the cymbals themselves."
I'd say these new menial cymbals are their go at Zildjian Constantinoples, to get a slice of the jazz pie. Maybe a little darker and less mids focussed as compared to Zildjian.
Amazing sound. But what’s that snare drum at the 2:24 mark??
It's a Ludwig 1920's Standard snare drum. I have it and it's one of my favorites. Amazing tone, punchy as hell when tuned low with some muffling. I'll record it next week and put the video on my channel so check it out. I decided to record all my vintage snare drums so people can hear how they sound because some of them don't have many quality videos online.
I didn't know that Ibra plays drums that good!
Go listen to Sabian Artidan series. The meinls sound like a copy of what has already been done. Though they do sound incredible, they sound like Sabian Artisans.
Sweet Baby Jesus Lord God. Yes.
Bennys bass drum sound!! SO Nasty
Gorgeous.
この音に惚れた。
Does Benny have those "CRS cymbal resonance system" on his rig there? I'm thinking about getting one for my ride cym.
who's the 3rd drummer ? that sound with those cymbals omg soung sooo good
Joey Leeuwen Jerry Roe
Could we not get a budget, high quality, B20 line to fill in for the mb20's?
the mb20s weren't budget? they were the most expensive line in meinl's lineup
@@EdenPorterMusic true from when they were made but now with Byzance and it's variations mb20 is budget when compared
@@Jackcident You realize Mb20 has been discontinued for at least a year, right?
No I had no idea that's why I put 'to fill in the for the mb20s' in my initial comment
@@Jackcident oh, true, sorry. regardless though, considering the byzance line's prices have consistently gone up, then the mb20s made in the same place would be going up with them if they were still around. the pure alloy (b12) series might not be designed as a replacement for Mb20s at all but i think they're as close as meinl is gonna get to a "budget-pro" line for a while. sabian XSR and, to a lesser extent, istanbul agop Xist have the budget b20 market pretty covered.
Any info when they are coming to europe?
JP Bouvet is like a ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC haha ;) Amazing stuff!
Those light rides are godly crashes. I can see myself owning the whole line though. Too bad I live in Canada, these will probably come close to 1000$ CND per cymbal.
I liked Benny’s bass drum :) and cymbals of course 👍
Are they more flat and the hammering is different than the Byzance traditionals? Also they are more bright cause the finished, right?
I can`t believe what I`m hearing.
Time to sell all of my drums for a pair of those delicious hihats...
Hi-hat - it'Äs ONE hi-hat. Not a pair. It's a pair of cymbals if you wish, but not a poair of hats - that would be four cymbals. Will you people learn to count one day? -.-
dXb Stop being a douch.
@@dxb8086 u pedantic sad olde twit
@@dxb8086Couldnt care less.
OK, so where can I learn the stuff jp played?
Is it a good idea to play the edge of the hats with the narrow part of the stick just under the tip?
Benny Greb's grooves need their mouth washed out with soap
That's fantastic.
great cymbals! but what are those things on benny's cymbal stands?
www.crsnorway.com ;)
I Love IT!💜💜💜💜💗💗💗💗💕
Oooh, some of these rides are really nice... shame they'll probably cost like $800 CAD...
Paiste twenty concept with turkish branded meinls? Like the options though
All meinls cymbals from byzance line are made in Turkey. Thats Ibrahim Diril factory
@@stefanaleksic4113 thanks for the education :)
Stefan Aleksic No they are not Made by Them lol.
@@vladeguignimusic Can you tell us where are they build? In Germany, Meinl only put stamps on them!
Stefan Aleksic Meinl makes Byzance in Turkey yes, but they are not made by Ibrahim Diril. You are misinforming people about that. I know personally most of the people involved in the creation of this series. Just because someone tells you those kinds of rumors don’t mean that this is true. Meinl Byzance is NOT made my Ibrahim Diril.
waiting to see if anika is on here... 🤔... guess not...
She likes dry cymbals
@@PatrickBuzoDrums man, does she ever. good point.
Anika is featured in a few videos here.
Wow nice.😃👍
Wooah nice ... How much do these go for?
Well, as of 7:40 a.m. on 12 Jan, 2019, a google search reveals no price data.... but I'll bet they'll be in the premium range. I hope i'm wrong. I'd like to be able to afford one or two.
Benny's bass drum sounds like a tank.
oh so meinl is making paiste cymbals now lol
I did not know zlatan plays the drums 😂
PETI T. Fact: Zlatan was the first drummer and is still the best of them all
Sound like Sabian Legacies
