Krake Review, Heide Park Bolliger & Mabillard Dive Machine | Worst B&M Dive Coaster

  • Krake is the Bolliger & Mabillard dive machine at Heide Park. It opened as the smallest dive coaster and it's still the only one in all of Germany. It has one of the most iconic drops in the world plunging into the kraken, but does that save it from being the worst B&M dive coaster?

    While it's definitely too short, I still love the three main elements. The drop is of course awesome, and the Immelmann is easily the best one I've experienced. Its incredible and sustained floater in the back makes it my favorite inversion in the park. And the camelback is also really nice and graceful floater. Krake is probably the definition of 'really short, but really sweet' for me, if that's a thing.

      It's still fun. Just I prefer the other (usually longer) dives.

    I rode Oblivion TBH at Gardaland (the extended version of this) and it was so much fun, it was still short, but all the other qualities it brought balanced it out for me.

      @@NorthernRidesYaBoi I personally prefer Raptor just because you get more prime ride time and it has a much better theme. The theming and near-misses are what makes this ride also a little better tbh.

    I think this coaster is actually pretty great for the park, just because of the imposing drop into the Ship and the huge splash it produces - it's just a really great looking ride. Yeah it's a short but honestly the drop is so great, it alone makes for a fun ride and the immelmann also gives great sustained airtime if you have some space. Out of the three divers I have done I would agree it's the weakest, but I think it still deserves a 7/10

  • @StinnerMatjest
    @StinnerMatjest Год назад

    It's funny, when I was there last summer (2021), that one bunny hill gave some fantasically sustained floater air-time but I've never heard anyone ever mention it being more than just weak floater so I don't know if I was just really lucky my trip.
    Still, it's the only dive I've done so I rate my experience on it quite highly plus that drop is amazing!
    Great video as always my guy.

    Nice review, have to agree with you, the drop feels so much weaker than other dive coasters, the theming is cool though. I found the seats so close together I couldn't even move my arms :D Just as tip for your German pronounciation, generally a word ending in 'e' is pronounced 'uh', so it's Krah-kuh and Hei-duh Park :)

    I’ve only ridden 2 dive coasters in my whole life. This one and Baron 1898. (yes only the 2 smallest ones) because I’m a Dutch guy who doesn’t travel much. Baron is better to me in every aspect. It’s got better theming, the drop is better as well with that really cool misty tunnel and the layout after the drop is better on Baron too. The splashdown of this coaster doesn’t add anything on-ride, it’s just a glorified brake that looks cool off-ride. It literally doesn’t even make my top 3 rides of the park, because desert race was more enjoyable to me.

    Honestly I didn’t find this ride to be as weak as others say it is. I still really loved the ride especially that first drop. The layout kind of reminds me of the second half of Griffon with the immelmann, bunny hill, and splashdown. Still, I’m really glad B&M started working on more unique layouts. Dive coasters didn’t even introduce any new inversions aside from immelmanns until 2015!

    I don't think it's the worst, but I can understand that people may be underwhelmed that this ride is very short in length. That's where I think the other miniature dive coasters do better, is that the elements are better and is better paced.

    Man, these dive coasters get it rough from the coaster community. I personally enjoy the way the G-Forces hit you on the way down on these. I love the theming on this one. Is it the restraints that people hate or the shortness of the typical dive coaster? I do applaud parks adding these to bring a different ride experience.

  • @claudiakruger3595

    I agree that Krake is underwhelming to ride. But it has two nice features: First it is at the center of the park which makes it visible from almost everywhere in the park ... and audible! You can always hear the screams when the car drops, even from a greater distance and the ride looks awesome with the water splash. And second it has this fantastic soundtrack from Imascore: ruclips.net/video/XZFmPaWQD6Y/видео.html
    So overall: a bit boring to ride, but a nice spectacle in the middle of the park!
