    I think I get what Hasan is trying to say at the start about how he doesn't like it, would be lovely if no one felt it was necessary, that not undergoing potentially dangerous procedures would be preferable, but at the same time, like with the first woman, if your natural appearance makes you feel very self-conscious and ultimately unhappy it might be the just about the only real way to feel good about yourself physically. I also feel like the people most often making the argument that natural is best are, like with Hasan, naturally attractive people and as such often comes off as a bit disingenuous for people struggling with self-esteem issues derived from body issues.

    I'm only 10 minutes in but Hasan's comment toward the beginning really bothered me. Granted, I tend to look at everything through a trans lens, but the notion of "you're beautiful no matter what so you shouldn't get plastic surgery" is super flawed. For example, my sister has PCOS and she's always been insecure about the size of her chest, so she's talked multiple times about getting breast augmentation to go up a few cups. This is genuinely harmless and would only serve to benefit her self-image and mental health, as long as she goes to a credible surgeon.
    Like, yeah you should definitely love yourself regardless, but sometimes there's just those things about your body that you can't bring yourself to love. I come from a heavy family and I would never consider getting a tummy tuck or liposuction, because I feel happy with my weight. I like my thighs and the roundness in my face. Would I like to get a breast reduction for gender-affirming reasons and also to ease my back problems? Fuck yes, and I shouldn't be judged for wanting that surgery, trans or cis.

      I agree, he's said some stuff in the past I disagree with as well, he's definitely the kind of person that thinks people can just instantly be confident in yourself. Of course it's good to be confident but it's a very slow and difficult process and there aren't many conscious decisions you can make to alleviate that, sometimes you just have to deal with them or tolerate it if there isn't a solution, however, to many plastic surgery IS a solution. Of course everyone is beautiful, and it would be fantastic if they could just love themselves and think how they look is perfect. But that just isn't realistic to say to someone. I know there isn't anything wrong with my breasts, I wouldn't think anything of it if it was on somebody else. I wish I was confident. But I know my mental state just isn't there and it may never be there, and I would like to get surgery for it in a reputable place and I know it would definitely raise my quality of life.

    So most of the arguments for or against plastic surgery on here are reasonable but holy fucking shit there are some incels on here lurking about. If you genuinely just wanna upgrade yourself because you wanna be YOUR ideal self fine cool. But if you are sitting here rippin Hasan for being pretty and not knowing what it means to be ugly or to have the wrong chin to forehead ratio and that's why you can't find love, stop. You have lost the fuckin plot and you need to reevaluate your personal image before you jump straight to beltsanding your bones.
    I have seen the most "mismatched" couples plenty of times before, shit my best friend looks like a skinny version of sasquatch and his fiance is gorgeous. BUT THEY'RE BOTH WONDERFUL PEOPLE! No invasive surgery required. My point is if you want plastic surgery because other people are making you feel like garbage and not because you want to be the person YOU wanna see in a mirror than you gotta rethink what you're doin.

    Plastic surgery is most often permanent. So shaming someone for getting it is the exact same thing as shaming someone for their natural features. I can assure you it feels equally as painful, despite having it "done to ouselves".

    I don't agree with what hassans saying at the beginning when talking about "being comfortable in your own skin". I think majority of the time you can learn to love yourself but if you have an abnormal shaped nose or a wierd mole somewhere that you genuinely don't like for yourself its fine to get that fixed. Its easy for someone who doesn't have those issues to say "just love yourself, your beautiful".

    I think medically neccessary plastic surgery is 100% okay. For elective plastic surgeries there is some wiggle room like the woman with the irregular boobs or having a "bump" or crooked nose or being trans. But trying to fit an imagine of boobs, ass, certain shaped cheeks and jawline is gross and encourages body dysmorphia. They claim they aren't trying to fit a image by getting plastic surgery but besides the exceptions I listed they literally are.

    • @nothanks13
      @nothanks13 2 года назад

      I disagree about the “it encourages body dysmorphia” part, that is if I’m interpreting it correctly. If your talking about their own self image, then I disagree. If someone’s so insecure to the point that they want surgery and feel that’s best for them, and feel good about their decision afterwards, there’s no problem with that. But if your talking about the society norms side about it, then I kinda agree. I mean if you get plastic surgery and like push that that’s what everyone should look like, then obviously you’re in the wrong and you’re pretty stupid. Anyways, that’s my annoyingly long take, feel free to reply.

I just have to hope I do a good enough job.
