So when I move to a bungalow and I know how much room i have my uncle said he'd make me a raised cupboard thing-a-ma-jig so I can clean their cage out myself. Although I will miss not having free roamers anymore. Back when I did have rats my cats, rats and ferrets all grew up together I don't think they realised they were a different species. They'd all sleep in bed withme on a night too. But now one of my cats, my ragdoll, has never seen a rat and he's 6½ and it just wouldn't be safe for ratties to be out together 24/7 like my others were and of course I want them all to be safe. And I fear they would look like toys to him. So when I do let some more ratties they'll be having cat free ratty time. Well they can be with my other cat as he's one of my kitties that I had when I had my free roamers. So they'll be getting ragdoll free ratty time

And I'm glad that my rats helped more than one person to realise that they're not gross and horrible. But the longer she was watching him sat having a clean and then giving me a ratty teeth cleaning she realised how cute and intelligent he was so after that she was no longer scared of them and would even ask for us to bring the rats to come see her and she'd always have their favourite treats in her cupboards. And would even call them her grandbabies like she did the cats. So I'm glad I could pass that on. The staff in my local shop used to love them and the ferrets too. If I went to the shop I'd always put them In My backpack as obviously members of the public wouldn't like seeing rats and ferrets in a shop that sold food but if certain staff were on they always asked to see them and give them a stroke. (I rarely went anywhere without one or two of them (had 4 ferrets and 6 rats so didn't take ALL of them everywhere at the same time but I always had a few of them if they wanted to go out. My ferrets hand rats had harnesses and leads but my rats I didn't let walk on the ground they'd just sit on my shoulders and my ferrets in public only my big boys I let walk on the ground my 2 tiny female I was always worried a dog/cat may see them as food so they'd hangout on the shoulders/ride in my hoody/bag with the ratties

(Clearly meant as an inuendo) talk about questionable parenting 😹but I felt like a badass. She also let me watch nightmare on elm Street when I was 7. The start of my horror obsession. One person said they buy the food hair clips bc they're a pediatric nurse in a long term ward at a children's hospital, and the clips make the kids smile.
I love crocs...they are very comfortable and durable. The fact that people tell me they hate because they're ugly makes me love them even more for some reason :D

If Vi gets rats for her birthday, be sure to buy young (less than 3 month old) ones, and all non pregnant females. Female rats don't smell as bad as males, and don't have those big "dingleberries". They don't get as big as boys either, and their fur is finer and softer. And males fight too. A group of all females is best. They do have a short lifespan though---3 years at most. I hope she enjoys them, they're intelligent and fun. Don't let them met the ferrets though. They make good ferret snacks. (Jan Griffiths).

My ratties fave treat was scrambled egg. Only discovered this when I found there of them nabbing it out of my ferrets bowl (free roam)
