Also about the pvc quality , cheap pvc feels like a plastic bag to me. You can really see the quality difference. I feel like a lot of people are just stuck in the phase of idolizing kill star. Honestly people would probably get better items from like Etsy shops or other small businesses for the price. I just don’t think it’s worth what they charge.
@@emilybooboo girl I love you!! I found Mary Wyatt through your videos and they’ve become my FAVORITE. there stuff is quality seriously. It’s held up through a new born baby lol. I also had a dress from killstar years ago and it was so amazing i wore it to a wedding it was black see through fabric and layers and I agree with you there quality just isn’t the same anymore. And I don’t get the “I have to have that” feeling when looking at there stuff which sucks because I used to love it. I wish I still had that old dress but it got destroyed when I moved..
It's nice to know I'm not the only one who doesn't really like cross and pentagram motifs on their clothes! Thankfully I lean a little more retro/grandma goth in my everyday wardrobe so I don't have a whole lot of problems finding things without them/having to take them off, but I also wear lolita fashion and there are soooo many crosses on the goth stuff, and it always annoys me when a piece I otherwise like has crosses on it.
Oh that’s so weird! I just looked at my Older Killstar purse and it says “occult luxury”. The recent bags and clothes that I’ve got don’t say that anymore! I also agree with you on the religious symbols. I feel like now they over-do it on the crosses and pentagrams. I don’t want to wear those symbols out of respect for people who use them seriously.
Wow that pvc comparison was such an eye opener. That new dress looked like a plastic garbage bag when you compared it next to your older killstar pvc piece. I have to check out that podcast now and have a listen. Thanks Emily for your honest review!!!
That thin PVC looked terrible, it was like cheap Halloween costume quality. I only buy their clothes if they are on clearance, and nothing with symbols all over them. It's really telling that Killstar didn't publicly announce that they had new owners. The 'businessmen' who now own it are obviously trying to milk as much from the brand as possible. It is 100% fast fashion right now which is a shame.
I still shop with Killstar, but I think they do a high full price is just for the reduction price later 😂 It’s like some company will cheat you with “was”and “now” prices. I always buy from the sale section and also when they do a 30%~35% off on all items.
I kinda agree . The only issue is when a shoe comes out that I must have...I buy them a week or so after they drop and use one of my vip coupons, because alot of the more special shoes sell out fast or for some reason switch to "coming soon" during the larger sales.
This was really useful. I've shopped with killstar but all I have ordered from them is jeans and graphic tops/hoodies. I've never had a problem with any of them. Though- I ordered one of their shoulder bags and the bag strap broke within the first week! I only stick with things I know are safe at this point
Totally agree with Banned, both my purse and bag are from them (in fact, all eight of my bags are from Banned and I haven't had a problem with any of them) xxx
I ordered a backpack from Killstar and the seam split within 2 weeks, when I emailed them they told me they wont refund it because it was my fault it broke! Fuming.
KillStar is too expensive for fast fashion. I have some old things from them that have held up and I still love. However, I hated how some of their prints would stick together and ruin itself after you wash it. I’d have to hang dry them immediately after the wash was done or they’d be ruined. That got old quickly. The fabrics are so thin and cheap. Not worth the money.
@@toxiczombiewolf5692 it’s one thing buying something super cheap and expecting it to be polyester. However, KillStar clothing can be $80+, yet still, be the same materials as some $5 shirts.
@@pennywisethedancingclown2702 honestly I hate polyester I try to avoid it as much as possible not easy since so many brands are becoming more fast fasion which is also bad for the environment. I'm curious if you can recommend any other alternative site would much appreciate 💚
I used to buy from Killstar, but the prices are just stupidly expensive! £60+ for a pair of trousers, with tiny pockets?! No thanks! I'll just stick to EMP or some of the other brands you've mentioned in a previous video. I'd rather quality over quantity for sure! xx
I don't know if EMP is better in the UK, but I'm from Denmark and on the Danish EMP website everything is even MORE ridiculously overpriced than it is on the killstar website 😵😵😭
All I can look at constantly is how the purple frame of the chuckie picture matches Emily’s hair. Appreciate the color coordination even if you’re moving from the green a bit
I keep wanting to buy from killstar, but i just continue to save my money for higher quality brands. I really want to try mary wyatt, it's out of my price comfort zone but if it lasts it'll save me over time 😬 THIS VIDEO WAS AWESOME BTW!! Super well made and thorough 🖤🖤💚💚
Try Devil Fashion. I have had success with all the items I purchased. I have several tops and a pair of brocade trousers. All nice quality materials. Their sizing and size chart has been accurate from my experience.
I have a couple of bits from Mary wyatt, the price is a bit of an arse nip BUT the quality is amazing and it will literally last you forever! It makes more financial sense over time, you get a lot more bang for your buck once you get over the initial outlay 😊
I loved Killstar back in 2013 when they were a t shirt company. Their quality was SO good, but I've noticed that the quality of their clothing has gone downhill and the prices have shot up through the roof. I very rarely buy from them now unless there is something I REALLY want in the clearence.
Ugh, sourcing good quality pvc fabric these days is an absolute mare! Saying that, Killstar are big enough that they can afford to bulk buy it made to their specs, so it's purely a decision to make things as cheaply as possible for maximum profit. As for your friend not being paid for her modelling for going on a month now- that's taking the p*ss. I don't have tons of money to splash on photoshoots, but I've always paid the models I've hired at the end of the shoot. Modelling is a lot harder than people realise, and they deserve to get paid on time!
I completely agree with you on the over saturation of crosses and other symbolic imagery on their clothing. I see an item and I love it it and then I take a closer look at the pattern and I get turned off by it
I would agree that I noticed a decline in quality of this brand, I buy from them regularly - I didn't know they was bought out though! I was really disappointed with my black friday order. Most things looked different to their product photos, sizing has changed, and I was also sent a coat that was XXL with a size small tag attached to it :C Customer service was really nice and gave me free postage to send the coat back and sent another one, but first day the zip broke within 5 minutes of wearing it XD First time I had ever returned anything to them though :O I still want to support the brand because they have some really cool items & I love how diverse & inclusive the models/marketing material is, but I think from now I will only buy things I really really love & when they go on sale or get them second hand :'C
I started buying from Killstar when it still said occult luxury on the tags and bags and the quality seemed quite worth the price. Knowing from this video that the company was sold makes so much sense on the much lower quality, constant new product drops and tiny armholes on everything! I’m so glad I have a lot of my older pieces and they’re still in great condition. The constant use of prints and symbols on Killstar clothing was a huge turn off for me, not that I don’t like them, but most of the clothing would look so much better without them. Earlier this year I switched to buying from Foxblood, and I couldn’t be happier with their clothing. Every piece I have is super wearable and comfortable and easily dressed up with accessories.
I am 5’7 and I’m a size 12-14 Australian which is a M-L and I have to say I always have to size up with killstar, I haven’t had much of a problem with quality and I always buy things on sale anyways. But I’m so glad to hear your experiences and listen to your views on the brand as someone who has been purchasing before the quality drop. I have only known the quality for what it is now! So it’s nice to hear your views
It's sad because they were my favorite brand. Honestly, when you said they'd sold the company it started to make sense. The quality used to be there and the designs used to be on point too but....*sigh. Now, like you said, the prices are WAY TOO HIGH for it to be hit and miss. The sizing of the bottoms is especially inconsistent. I tend to stick to tops because I like mine oversized....and usually I can find them in clearance. I'm delving more into the homewares they've started selling. I have a Cthulhu blanket with matching pillow cases....love it...still too expensive though, lol! Another thing I noticed, because I get their marketing emails, I get sooooo many with new drops. It's like there is a new collection every week or every two weeks and I'm like...I can't keep up! Anyway, thanks for the video and I was so sad to see that you were disappointed about the top you were initially so excited about. That's happened to me so many times! This is why I love when you bring us new brands to buy from! Take care! :}
Killstar is incredibly expensive and I definitely agree that they are fast fashion. I mean, they got a new collection at leat once a month? I dress very androgynous so I always go for men's tees and such. Because of that I don't have much quality issues. The cotton fabric is thick and keeps it shape. I only have one shirt where the stitching is absolute carbage and that I plan to get to a seamstress. But that mens clothing has better quality is common in the fashion industry. Since clothing targeted to men is simpler in design they lovely workers can put more effort in the quality. However I still like to occasionally look at their women's collection and some pieces even look cheap in the photos. They had a black and red lace collection and boi, did the lace look cheap. And paying so much for that quality? No thanks!
for a while there, KS was putting out new drops every week- literally every Monday. And they keep churning out the "limited edition" kreeptures bc they know people will buy them all up as soon as they launch. It's insane how far in the 'fast fashion' direction they have swung since they were bought out.
Killstar is the reason I took up sewing (still a beginner though =S). I like their designs but I dont like the execution and their materials. Also I dont like to wear religious signs so I can keep them off and I can skip the polyester and safe the environment of a bit of microplastic.
I have to admit I've been a massive fan of killstar since 2017 and most of my kinda huge wardrobe is their stuff 😭😭. And I've only ever had an issue with 2 items and customer services have always been great ... everything else has held up amazingly qaulity wise so its definitely interesting to see people having negative experiences .
22:01 I feel so bad for laughing. The way the dress looks like a trash bag, the poor quality, the way you describe everything, the fact that some people paid the full price for this, I know why I only shop big brands like Killstar second hand xD Edit: I saw the label of a Killstar swester and it said "Total trash haute couture" and I think this sums it up pretty well
This does remind me of the art classes I went to in college. They can be blunt at times, but I had a feeling they did it to lead me to the right direction.
I still buy from Killstar when they have things I like but get them when they're on clearance. I've had 90% good purchases and haven't had many mistakes. I have 3 of those Coven lipsticks and they are really good.
Really enjoyed this. I also find their stuff hit or miss. Like you, I got black Friday sale and I also got a cyber Monday sale. Most of the stuff I got was lifestyle stuff because I don't trust their clothing. The few items of clothing I got were nice but most of them were cheap material. I really liked the Bad Wolf dressing gown I got and it was really thick but then the hood scarf I got was the cheapest material I've ever seen and I will be returning. I agreed with the majority- if not all of- your thoughts. Thanks for this video boo face 😈 and makes SO MUCH SENSE they were sold because their quality has DEFINITELY changed for the worse
They have the most inconsistent sizing for a ‘size inclusive” brand. I’m to scared to spend the money because I don’t want to risk the size that fits in one skirt won’t in another
I actually found this video really informative. I’ve shopped at Killstar for years because I love the designs. However, I have also noticed that the quality is really lacking nowadays. It’s a shame, but thankfully I haven’t had too many issues with their clothes (except for the sizing issues, that really pisses me off). I would like to branch out to other brands that aren’t as “big business” as Killstar.
Thank you for this review! I love(d) Killstar but their fashions are so expensive, with erratic sizing and often poor material. I've just been getting bedding & housewares from them lately. ALSO I completely agree with you about crosses and pentagrams on clothing! I feel inappropriate wearing them as I'm not part of those religions. Moons, stars, bats, ravens etc would be better motifs for a wider audience.
I had no idea they were sold! I'm in shock! Ur right I bought alot during the sale and being plus sized and sizing was terrible! Your reviews are on the money!
I always go for a 2xl or 3xl when buying with killstar, I never buy the trousers cause I’m scared that they won’t fit. Yet the tops/jumpers are usually a hit and miss with the sizes. (Either too big or just right)
I've only had one item not fit correctly from them, but the way the item was designed it wasn't that big of a deal. I'm a huge fan of religious imagery and occult imagery so Killstar is right up my alley with their over the top designs. I will agree the quality can be hit or miss, a pair of pj pants I bought were very thin which was extremely disappointing. Other than these two instances I've been very lucky. Killstar needs to definitely have better quality control and increase the quality in general of their garments since there are so many stories of them being hit or miss, hopefully they will listen to buyers and fix these issues.
Thank you so much for this video Emily! When I was first getting back into alternative fashion I was lured into the Killstar craze and while I like a lot of their designs the quality of what I bought Vs how much i'd paid was so incredibly disappointing ( once had a pair of their shoes break at airport security so badly I had to sock walk into departures and buy new shoes and that was only after a month of sporadic wear) this was enlightening and honest and really helped inform on any future fashion purchases, thank you, thank you, thank you
I really wish it was possible to review each item on their site, would make it so much easier to know what to buy considering that the sizes can really vary and the quality of the fabric as well… GREAT VIDEO BTW!🤩
I agree. I used to absolutely love killstar. But the decrease in quality and increase in seemingly random super bright bold cartoon patterns sealed the deal for me. I'll occasionally buy a bag if I absolutely love the design but that's about it.
Thanks for linking the podcast, we really appreciate it & we're glad you enjoyed it! M is on the website now! I really hope she does get paid - that sucks. Love ya 😘🖤❤️
I had no idea they sold. That makes so much sense cause I noticed the difference in quality and the difference in the items coming out. I loved killstar but nothing has been jumping out at me.
Omg someone got me that pvc collar dress for Christmas in a large I couldn't even get it on. Never bought anything myself from there I legit felt so bad that it didn't fit. So glad I watched this
every single article of clothing i bought from killstar came with holes. the seems literally coming apart. i bought a pair of sunglasses and the black paint started to come off a few weeks in. makes me so sad because i love the designs
This video was incredibly validating. I’m not huge, but I have to order things from Killstar in XL and it’s always hit or miss. I’ve kinda just given up. It’s not worth the wasted money and the upset feeling anymore.
I agree I saw a change in Killstar quality a few years ago, I stopped pretty much fully ordering. The original owners selling the brand would explain a lot to me, the fabrics seem so flimsy to me now and their releases have gotten very unoriginal imo. Just the same shapes in different fabrics and prints thrown on them. It is rare when they release a very original collection. I would be happy that they cater to plus sizes now too if the sizing wasn't an absolute joke. I was always size M in Killstar 7 years ago when I started buying from them, now I can be anything from S to L. I rarely like Killstar designs anymore and when something catches my eye, I don't like the fabric (I hate synthetic fabrics) or if it's a dress, it's just way too short (which is not a Killstar problem tbf, I'm 5'8"). The lace collection they had this year was absolutely lovely but I couldn't afford anything, like you said, the prices are SO expensive now and most was sold out before I could catch a sale. I used to think Killstar was medium to high prices and Punk Rave was very expensive, now they are pretty much the same. I can't say I'm never ever going to buy from Killstar anymore but they definitely aren't my go-to brand anymore
Yes to all that 👏🏻 it’s such a shame. I haven’t bothered in a while and idk if I will anymore tbh. Anything they sell you can get it cheaper and probably better quality from somewhere else 🤷🏻
Would of been interesting to see you view some of their like home stuff (I.e bedding, tapestry’s , ornaments etc) , would you ever do a kill star lifestyle review instead? Also loving your hair!💜
I've brought some of their blankets and have found the blankets they sell are really nice and plush, but yet again quite expensive for what they are as I've also got cheaper blankets that are equally as nice
So true! So many things they don't do as well now. I love a lot of the designs, but things like not sending the little velvet bags out for jewellery makes it feel so much cheaper than the pricing. I've never liked their jumpers and knitwear, even back in 2014 when I bought some I ended up sending a load of knitwear back because it all felt awful. I've bought a lot of Killstar in the past year though, and some bits have been great (I love my Broomrider boots, Fortune Lace Duster, Fawn Lace top, and I got the Badlands dress this summer, which was lovely material and well sewn). A bunch of belts I got have all been nice, as have the bags and wallets. No issues there. Some items have had bonkers sizing too. I've had a couple of dresses that haven't fitted me despite being able to wear the same size in other items quite happily. Also, some items that looked divine like the Fatal Attraction bodysuit... but were completely impractical because it was not stretchy fabric and also had no poppers on the crotch, meaning you have to shimmy into the bodysuit through the neckhole. The Harness ur Power sundress had TERRIBLE stitching on it. Considering how many straps were on the front of the dress across the chest, that was problematic and the result is the dress looks cheap. Their shoes drive me nuts though - They look great and as I said, my broomriders are great and comfortable, no signs of wear or issues. But it drives me mad when they cheap out on making actual working laces and instead opt for the hooks that bend and don't have any functional purpose. I got a pair of their boots that were called Lugosi or something, and they were obscenely small for my calves and all the buckles etc weren't real so there was no way to adjust them. I got one dress, the Hades sun dress at the beginning of 2021 and it was lovely, with nice material and drapey fabric. So nice I bought it 2 sizes smaller so I could continue wearing it. And that one was much cheaper fabric. There's one type of fabric they use that's nice, and another that is awful and clingy. I hate to play roulette with items that might be either type of material. It will get worse too. The increases in shipping costs from China will have had a significant impact on their margins so they'll be pushing prices higher and higher to counter it.
I’m only 6 minutes into the video and I have to agree with you on the religious symbols. They just slap me on everything. And the silly part is they love the upside down cross and will have a “hail satan” written on it even though the upside down cross is a Christian symbol. They just slap a bunch of symbols on there and have no idea what they mean half the time.
great vid emily! i also splurged in their black friday sale- their homewares are actually lovely and for the prices i paid im very happy HOWEVER the clothes are so so so horrible, the material is thin and cheap also im a 5”2 extra small and somehow their shirts and a tunic i bought were falling down to my calves (killstars sizing is horrific do be warned) i totally agree with you the clothes are honestly not even worth the sale prices, ghouls trust me, save up and buy something worth it!! :))
The brand being sold explains A LOT! The quality went down and the prices are ridiculous. I refuse to pay full price for Killstar now. Also it feels more like a mainstream brand now and the designs are ott and horrible. I did buy the jack o lantern cushion and the Yin Yang area rug in the Black Friday sales, and only after it was shipped I got a refund and email saying they couldn't locate the Yin Yang rug at the time of shipping so it wasn't included in my order. So disappointed!
I need to agree with all you said in this video. I was buying a lot from kill star few years back and you could feel that you paid for quality. Items were expensive but nice. Now the price is going crazy! When I see dress that is over 70 and then you see the same dress on AliExpress it is really painful. And many of the cloths don’t fit me. I wish they would put prices down a bit. When items go to sale most of the time my size is sold out
I went through a killstar phase a year or two ago and have since sold it all. Now I buy brands that are not fast fashion second hand. I'm finding that I'd rather buy second hand high quality than first hand random quality.
I wasn't aware Killstar had been sold so that makes sense as to why they've decreased in quality! I mostly only get Killstar from resale shops now since I prefer the older stuff. Their velvet is still okay but anything else feels horridly cheap on my skin. Love the "OH! I can FLASH!" moment, you always make me laugh with your raunchy humor! Also I always thought PVC didn't suit me but now I'm wondering if I've only ever tried on low quality PVC and might like actual high quality PVC...
One of the most useful Killstar hauls ever!! l don't know whether the brand has become fast fashion or not but the price point clearly is not. On the KS group some have said that they deliberately raise their prices since most people shop their sales (and they have very regular sales isn't that fishy?)
Very fishy. If they can afford to put on sales multiple times a month then imagine how much their products cost to produce. I refuse to buy full price and only really buy that which is on clearance. I love some the designs but the asking price is way too high for the quality
@@oliviamalone209 the designs look great but l'd rather buy similar stuffs from small businesses on etsy so l know it's handmade however high the price is and that l am supporting an artist. The full price of KS stuffs is ridiculous. The thing is some items sell out a few minutes after release so sometimes if you want an item you can't wait for sales...
Just to put in the comments. For anyone with chronic pain go one size up and the clothes can be too tight sometimes and it really helps me. In case anyone needs this ❤
my long skirt that had a zip just broke so repairing it is going to be fun. my old trousers had to be taken up after flares ripped down up by a dress maker .Had a plasticly see through look when they split.
you're 100% right on some of the necks being absolutely tiny! i have two of the striped jumpers they do, the green and the red. the red one's perfectly fine, but it's a mission to get the green one on if i've tied my hair up or something (which is a shame, because i slightly prefer the green to the red!)
I dropped £200 on the KS sale for my daughter's Xmas presents. 😱 Two separate orders because they suckered me into the sale not once, but twice! When will I ever learn?!? 🙄💚
I know this was so long ago, but for that shirt you really liked the design of, you could cut it, put some trim around the side, and use it like a wall hanging. Or you could sew it to a band and use it like a asymetrical over skirt (ive wanted to try that for awhile but I havent found anything I would do it with). You could cut it, sew it, and stuff it like a pillow and just have a sick pillow. I mean, I know you've probably returned it by now, but I was just thinking for future reference, especially for something that couldn't just be cut and used like a patch.
You are so funny and entertaining 🤣. I had purchased an xl long skirt from them and being a tall with hips it did not fit...I could not even get it to zip...I liked the look so I purchased some strech fabric to make it larger...I have yet to fix it but when you pay high price for garmets you expect fit and quality. Very disappointing. Only things I will be purchasing from them are bat tee pot with cup and saucer and perhaps a few other non clothing Items. You are right that etsy shops are the way to go!!! 🖤
My biggest issue with them was their SIZING. My 4'11" best friend and my 5'7" self have swapped clothes because an EXTRA LARGE WAS TOO SMALL for my medium size wearin' ass. I don't need pentagrams on every other thing, either, and it isn't a religious preference, I just feel it creates a uniform look and makes a piece feel less unique? I do still love their sweaters, though. Love your hauls/anti hauls and your insight and opinions, as always!
I like your honest reviews. Im 5,75 feet and madison dress is short but not as much I mean it is shorter than other killstar dresses but I also wear medium and I still can wear it with my tights. Maybe its just the way of killstar, they do have weird sizing sometimes. And yes it's ridiculously small under the armpits! I like the scorpia top but yes, this is a cardigan and I wouldn't wear it outside without sth underneath (or at least high waist trousers) but those sleaves are dreeeeeeam! The void lipstick is my fav black lipstick ever.
Super helpful vid. Living in Canada means high ship rates and customs and it's usually not worth it to return things. Given my current financial status, I can't afford shoddy clothing that won't fit. Thank-you for taking the time to make this. 🖤🖤🖤
Wow, I'm really sad to hear of the sizing inconsistencies and that the quality on at least some items, has gone down. Glad that you did this review as I have considered purchasing clothing from them several times. I have some of their bags and jewelry, but no clothes or shoes. Do you have any of their shoes? If so, would you be willing to do a review of those unless you already have? Take care Sweetie
Beware - some of their shoes don't have actual working things like laces or buckles. So they look pretty but aren't always practical. I've got their broomriders (great, very comfortable) livia trainers (ok, but wish the laces were proper working ones rather than just to look nice) and the lugosi boots (no way to adjust them despite how many buckles and things are on them. They don't fit my calves yet sady! I've never tried Demonias because I've always heard the quality is trash (would love it if someone could give me perspective on where they sit between killstar, new rock etc) but my go to is, still, New Rocks or DMs. Those things are built like tanks!
Bummed out that they've upped the prices, I found it too expensive for the quality before they upped the price, definitely not gonna be rushing to buy anything anytime soon
Our main seller of Killstar items in Australia is a store called Beserk. They have proper measurements for every item. I had no idea the official Killstar site didn't - good to know.
I’m glad you gave them a 2nd chance 🖤 It’s my all time favorite shop 😅 (I remember the first comment I left on your channel was on your anti-haul, I said something like « I love this shop and never had a problem with them » and thought oh gosh I hope she won’t take it as a hate comment! LoL You answered me very nicely and I follow you since that day 😃) I love your videos and your cheerful personality! xxx from France
I bought a dress from killstar once. It was very comfortable and it fit perfect and it looked nice from the front but the collar didn't go around all the way which made it seem very costumey which was sad
Really enjoyed this video and appreciate the honesty! The full prices for everything is very expensive, people need to be sure they're getting their moneys worth. I love Restyle, although often takes a long time to get here due to them being overseas, the quality of their tops has always been amazing. Having said that I'm a bit too cautious and haven't branched out into anything else from them because I'm worried the fit and quality won't be the same.
The only thing I've ever ordered from killstar is home stuff and bags. From the quality of the bags, I'd never order the clothing. Ever. I also noticed the quality from the bags a few years ago to now have declined massively. So much so I've actually not bothered looking at their website for time now. Your review is justified. I think the people that get mad at you over killstar are just either noobs, or just don't know quality 🤷♂️ much love and respect, Queen xx
I've only bought from Killstar once, and that was accessories, not clothing. All my stuff was good. Thank you for an honest review of your items, and now I know I won't be buying clothes from them. I'll stick to thrifting and secondhand. (Jan Griffiths).
Girl u should do a reveiw on kvd beauty or whatever they're called now. They used to me my all time fav, they had catered to us spooky chicks in a store we could easily access and now I try to get some cool make up and I look at them in sephora amd I'm heart broke! All red and nudes like wtf! Alternatively what products do you use and love for your spooky looks cause I'm so lost right now without my go to 😭
sizes are 100% inconsistent. I have to get a 4X in almost everything (I'm not a 4X anywhere else), and even then I have a 4X top that doesn't fit well. Low key wanted the "reality sucks" top seeing that it's oversized, but it's sold out.
I like to shop their sales at best, i started to get into thrifting and diying more like i used to in my school days, brands in general with inconsistent sizing though definitely hurts the market, you dont want to shop with brands that leave you guessing what size you need, especially if its relatively costly. I usually wear xl, or l but in killstar i often have to go plus size to fit
You’re totally right about killstar. I have tops from there from like four years ago that are incredible but recent buys are much less impressive. The size thing is also 100% true and I noticed that myself before I saw people talking about it so I am really happy and validated to see other people saying the same stuff. I used to shop killstar with confidence that the sizes would be what they say and the quality would be good. That’s all opposite now which is a real shame. My current method with shopping killstar is by going a size up from what I think I would need to get. I’m usually a size 6-8 au but with most killstar I’m a 10-12 au regardless to what their measurements might say. When it comes to their relaxed fits though I size down because they’re huge so I’ll either keep it an S or if I can go down to an XS. ( side note that reality sucks top does look mad cute on camera. I’d wear it as a dress with tights when I’m having a not giving a shit day or to bed which is how I wear my own since I had a similar situation with you when I first brought a relaxed fit from them and sized up instead of down lol ) I feel like the sizes ( at least for the non relaxed fit stuff ) right now are very matched with Asian sizes. Killstar right now have sizing that seems to match Punk Rave which is Asian based. Asian size standards are much smaller than what we outside of China/Japan/Korea are used to. Despite me being an extra small to small in local sizes in Asian sizes I’m typically medium to large. I’ve even got things from Asian companies in “plus” or xl / xxl that just manage to fit me, this is a particular problem with the bust area. It’s kinda mind blowing as someone who is considered of a very petite / small build in my own culture. But yeah it seems killstar have made their sizes the same as punk rave / dark in love which are Asian and that’s why the sizes are very off for western customers right now. 😔🖤
Not sure if I have mentioned this in a previous comment on one of your videos, I've worked in clothing retail for 30 years. Everything from low end to high end clothing stores. Majority of those jobs I worked in the stockroom. I can usually tell most of the time from the photos on the website if the material is quality. Killstar could be the go-to company if they invested in skilled factories, higher quality materials and only put out two or three fashion lines a year. The alternative crowd is very diverse. Goth people do not want to look like each other, they are very individual when it comes to their esthetic. It would be a good idea for the owners of Killstar to constantly keep up with what their target consumers are doing on the street & in the clubs when it comes to their own creations. I have one Killstar piece I bought in 2018 & I'm a tiny woman and the size is a medium, it's really an extra small. It's held up well especially in the washer but I also don't wear it much. I rarely if ever buy fast fashion because I know it won't last for only a couple years but I also take realky good care of my clothes so even those cheap items are still in good condition.
I appreciate the honest reviews! If I do shop with them again I prolly won’t order clothes…I don’t order clothes online because I’m an odd fit anyways lol. Im sad their sizing is all over the place. That’s always frustrating!!! I do love the pleated skirt and cardigan you got though!!! They look fantastic on you! ❤️❤️❤️
Yeah killstar sometimes has issues with providing correct sizing especially for tops, I was suggested a large with a button up (I'm a 40 D) and I can't get them buttoned up over the girls 😭. I have been pleasantly surprised but the bottoms though, using the suggested size even with the extra covid pounds. Totally agree though, I wait for sales to get anything
Holy shit the generation hex dress looks AWFUL! I nearly asked for it as a Christmas gift but chose a different dress. Glad I did as would have been mortified by that thin wrinkly mess 🙃 I also thought the collar was white PVC Limp ass sad looking collar :(
I got a killstar skirt last month and I'm actually really happy with it. The fabric feels good quality and is very comfy. I wear it to work everyday as a part of my uniform (cos some d-head said my black jeans weren't black enough! 😈 ). It has straps like a pinnafore with crosses on them which I don't like that much, but they're removable so I obv don't wear them at work. 100% satisfied!
I honestly really like Killstar. I’ve had more than one horrible experience with BlackCraftCult and Killstars customer service has always been on point. They are pricey so I wait for sales and clearance unless it’s a must have. They’re quality has always been fantastic too. Unlike the other company I mentioned.
It’s so interesting seeing other people’s experiences! I’ve bought from killstar for so long and have many things of theirs and have only ever had to send back 2 for not fitting right. I do get the sizes tho, I usually get a large/xlarge even though in most other things I probably would be smaller.
I remember buying a Ritual hoodie back in 2016-17 and the material was SOO thick and sturdy and I was so pleased! Recently I’ve bought 2 dresses.. and they’re so thin and the boob-age area is always WAY too small. Ugh.
This!!
ALL OF THIS!
I LOVE shopping on Etsy for home decor and witchy things...why I didn't think of clothes is beyond me...🤦♀️
@@emilybooboo girl I love you!!
@@mommybat2941 Mary Wyatt needs all the love ❤
It's nice to know I'm not the only one who doesn't really like cross and pentagram motifs on their clothes! Thankfully I lean a little more retro/grandma goth in my everyday wardrobe so I don't have a whole lot of problems finding things without them/having to take them off, but I also wear lolita fashion and there are soooo many crosses on the goth stuff, and it always annoys me when a piece I otherwise like has crosses on it.
The amount of pentagrams on Killstar clothing is absurd tbh.
Banned apparel has cheap bags and they are pretty decent quality! I recommend them!! Restyle bags are also nice but they are very hit or miss
Totally agree with Banned, both my purse and bag are from them (in fact, all eight of my bags are from Banned and I haven't had a problem with any of them) xxx
I also bought a shoulder bag from them and the strap broke on mine as well! :(
I ordered a backpack from Killstar and the seam split within 2 weeks, when I emailed them they told me they wont refund it because it was my fault it broke!
Ikr its such a shame I hate fast fasion I try get most stuff in cotton and not polyester crap, but it's so difficult on a budget.

I'd rather quality over quantity for sure! xx

@@dorym.tomaselli6739 Oo I've never heard of that before! Ill check it out 🖤
I have a couple of bits from Mary wyatt, the price is a bit of an arse nip BUT the quality is amazing and it will literally last you forever! It makes more financial sense over time, you get a lot more bang for your buck once you get over the initial outlay 😊
@@MsNattsuko Thank you for your response! Quality over quantity any day for sure!!
So glad this was helpful
It's sad because they were my favorite brand. Honestly, when you said they'd sold the company it started to make sense. The quality used to be there and the designs used to be on point too but....*sigh. Now, like you said, the prices are WAY TOO HIGH for it to be hit and miss. The sizing of the bottoms is especially inconsistent. I tend to stick to tops because I like mine oversized....and usually I can find them in clearance. I'm delving more into the homewares they've started selling. I have a Cthulhu blanket with matching pillow cases....love it...still too expensive though, lol! Another thing I noticed, because I get their marketing emails, I get sooooo many with new drops. It's like there is a new collection every week or every two weeks and I'm like...I can't keep up! Anyway, thanks for the video and I was so sad to see that you were disappointed about the top you were initially so excited about. That's happened to me so many times! This is why I love when you bring us new brands to buy from! Take care! :}
I bought the Cthulhu bedspread and shams too! No complaints there, although I should have waited for a sale.
Very glad to hear you've had positive experiences
22:01 I feel so bad for laughing. The way the dress looks like a trash bag, the poor quality, the way you describe everything, the fact that some people paid the full price for this, I know why I only shop big brands like Killstar second hand xD
Edit: I saw the label of a Killstar swester and it said "Total trash haute couture" and I think this sums it up pretty well
This does remind me of the art classes I went to in college. They can be blunt at times, but I had a feeling they did it to lead me to the right direction.
I still buy from Killstar when they have things I like but get them when they're on clearance. I've had 90% good purchases and haven't had many mistakes.
I have 3 of those Coven lipsticks and they are really good.
I was really impressed with their lipstick. It smelt amazing!
You don't even know how many times I've gone to cart something and then zoomed in and there's a bloody pentagram hidden somewhere.
Where's the pentagram!? a fun game for the whole family! 😂

EXACTLY occult luxury!!!!! I DEFINITELY noticed a decline at the exact same time. I even remember telling my partner about it!
That would make a huge difference!
I agree. I used to absolutely love killstar. But the decrease in quality and increase in seemingly random super bright bold cartoon patterns sealed the deal for me. I'll occasionally buy a bag if I absolutely love the design but that's about it.

They would be more interesting too!
"im not used to a floppy wand" thats what she said? XD
Damn… That hair goes so well with the green in your top and the wall! It looks amazing!
That PVC dress is a strait up black bin liner 🤣

Loving the new hair 💜🖤
Me too
My biggest issue with them was their SIZING.
That cardi with the cross is absolutely stunning. the £30 one - would deffo wear that
That was lovely tbf!
I love the purple hair on you, great color💜
I don't have any of their shoes anymore i'm afraid. I have heard that their heels are good but not anything with a flat platform x
“I was going to take the cross off.” Me too girl
Bummed out that they've upped the prices, I found it too expensive for the quality before they upped the price, definitely not gonna be rushing to buy anything anytime soon
Our main seller of Killstar items in Australia is a store called Beserk. They have proper measurements for every item. I had no idea the official Killstar site didn't - good to know.
It would make such a big difference!
Thank you so much for sticking around :D xx
I bought a dress from killstar once. It was very comfortable and it fit perfect and it looked nice from the front but the collar didn't go around all the way which made it seem very costumey which was sad
As a 4'10" teapot I would have LOVED if you had reviewed their trousers, LOL! (Seriously though, I feel your pain and this is why I live in leggings.)
I do like Restyle. Their leggings are a bit hit or miss but their tshirts are amazing!
I have that cardigan too, ended up buying another as love it so much. Their sizing is nuts I have small up to 4xl! I like the ones labelled small 🤣
The cardigan is lovely. Definitely wouldn't have paid full price though x
That chucky frame behind you terrifies your daughter, Violet to this day. 🤣😂🤣
I’d wear it as a dress with tights when I’m having a not giving a shit day or to bed which is how I wear my own since I had a similar situation with you when I first brought a relaxed fit from them and sized up instead of down lol )
I feel like the sizes ( at least for the non relaxed fit stuff ) right now are very matched with Asian sizes.
“ she has pockets, she’s a witch! “ 😂
Glad I did as would have been mortified by that thin wrinkly mess 🙃 I also thought the collar was white PVC
Limp ass sad looking collar :(
That i didn't notice until editing, the collar isn't even central!
@@emilybooboo it just gets better 🤣
I made the mistake of buying it before watching this video 😭😭😭
yeah i bought it cause im dumb lmfao big mistake
I got a killstar skirt last month and I'm actually really happy with it. The fabric feels good quality and is very comfy. I wear it to work everyday as a part of my uniform (cos some d-head said my black jeans weren't black enough! 😈 ). It has straps like a pinnafore with crosses on them which I don't like that much, but they're removable so I obv don't wear them at work. 100% satisfied!
Very glad too hear you're happy with your purchase :)
I'm 4ft 10 and its so nice you show outfits for little size lol!
Most of those things look like bad hot topic clothing. Not good! Thanks for this. I won't wast my money. Love me some Boo!
You could hear the difference in the skirt vs new PVC dress. I do feel like 7 items was a good haul but not if you only wanted to keep 3
I remember buying a Ritual hoodie back in 2016-17 and the material was SOO thick and sturdy and I was so pleased! Recently I’ve bought 2 dresses.. and they’re so thin and the boob-age area is always WAY too small. Ugh.
