This post is for those who are struggling to choose the right optional subject in the UPSC journey. Save this post, and re-read it.
There are many misconceptions about the optional subjects in the UPSC Civil Services. Here are some of them:
    1. Misconception 1: GS is more important than the Optional
For Prelims, this is absolutely true. However, Prelims is only a qualifier. Whether you like it or not, your rank, your services, and your cadre in the civil services will be determined by your performance in the Essay, Optional, and Interviews. While there will be massive averaging in General Studies, the variability in the Essay, Optional, and Interviews will make or break your chances in the exam. Therefore, preparing for the optional subject well in advance makes a lot of sense.
    2. Misconception 2: You should choose an optional that you have studied in your graduation
This is pure nonsense. It is totally fine to choose an optional subject that you have not studied in your graduation. Many BA/MA graduates in Political Science and IR have scored much lower marks than those who studied engineering/physics/chemistry/Medicine/Accountancy and still chose PSIR as their optional. Why does this happen?
Candidates from different backgrounds often adopt a more structured and analytical approach to studying new subjects. Success in the UPSC Exam is not just about knowledge but also about exam strategy. Additionally, candidates who have not studied a subject during their graduation might approach a new subject with a fresh perspective, leading to a more analytical and comprehensive understanding of the material.
    3. Misconception 3: Choose a specialized optional in Physics, Maths, or Chemistry
It is totally fine if you are in love with these subjects, but ideally, choose an optional that overlaps with the GS papers. You will start appreciating this feature in the two months between your Prelims results and the Mains exam date.
Subjects like PSIR, Public Administration, Geography, and Sociology often cover topics relevant to GS papers. While this might not seem important now, it becomes extremely crucial during the time frame between Prelims and Mains. Additionally, this overlap is advantageous in the interviews as well, as your board will evaluate your performance in your optional subject. They will ask questions around your optional.
At the end of the day, no matter which optional you choose, your goal should be to be among the top 1% of those who chose that optional that year. A subject that you are passionate about will be the subject you will study passionately, which can sustain your interest and drive, leading to better results.
On 15th July, we look forward to starting the journey of Political Science and International Relations at MisFits. This is an optional subject that I have not only studied in theory but also practiced in real life. Our goal is two-fold : number 1 : make you fall in love with that subject, and once that happens, we will ensure that we achieve a score above 310+ in this beautiful optional.

We are absolutely thrilled to officially announce the launch of the Political Science and International Relations Optional at MisFits. The journey from here on will be an experience of a lifetime - as I get to cover a subject that have lived and experienced for the past 10 years - not just in theory, but also in practice.
This module will be Live and will be directly taught by me. Recording accesses will also be provided to those who wish to go through the recordings of the same module (after work/office/classes at their own pace).
This module is designed to help you score above 310+ in the optional paper of Political Science and International Relations in the UPSC Civil Services Mains Exam.
In designing this module, we have meticulously crafted case studies to provide comprehensive coverage of the syllabus, along with insights and strategies to excel in the 10 markers, 15 markers, and 20 markers.
Our Episodes will focus heavily on solving test papers, answer writing, and ensuring foundational learning. Often, some of the worst performers in arts subjects are those who studied arts in their undergraduate studies. Therefore, we will follow an exam-centric, practical approach to excel in this paper - if you do not have a background in international relations and political science you will be at an advantage (because you'd do a lot of unlearning).
As part of this module, you can expect:
    1. In-depth lectures covering all topics
    2. Interactive Q&A sessions to clarify doubts
    3. Strategy sessions on how to approach the exam

    Hi Naman sir,
I have seen your several videos now. Really like it..
Earlier I love the diversity of India, so many religions living together like no other country. But now For 4-5 years as I have travelled to so many states for education n then job. I feel little different and with our history of 1000 years being slave. Can you make a video on Bengal, Kerala, Kashmir and north east states where conversion of religion or suppressing minority is on high alert. You speak truth always, so please share your views on this also.. Thabkyou..

I want naman sir to discuss about the latest govt order of UP CM to mention the names of owners of dhabas and stalls on the way to kanwar yatra. If someone marginalize someone in any way in democratic country will disturb peace. Now it's time for justice for such innocent hardworking indians and to protect there livelihood. I believe without justice there will be no peace. We have to ensure them that still we indians are alive and we will raise there unheard voices.

Same goes for halal businesses n economy...that also isolates all apart from one community boosting trading amongst like only

    • @7Seasons-wn4xh
      @7Seasons-wn4xh 2 месяца назад +1

@@vibha3776 Respectfully i disagree with you sister/brother. Our country is democratic country and everyone has right to choice. There is a difference in this order and Halal. Halal will not stop you to use it for business. Halal never asked you to mention owner name before selling. Beef exporting companies like kabeer and Al kabeer exports, Al noor food and Arabian exports owned by hindu brathers export halal beef but no one questioned them bcuz halal doesn't stop anyone from eating and earning. And you the best part the Same govt in Central not stopping them from mentioning halal for exporting bcuz they get electrol bonds from beef companies. This order will devide people intentions are clear when they ordered fruits and tea stalls owners to mention names. It's better instead of passing such orders the govt should take charge and should open govt owned stalls, hotel and dhabas for kawadis. This order promotes untouchablity nothing more nothing less. Jai Hind🇮🇳
