However, this tax should be very low, similar to the subsidy on gas cylinders, to avoid discouraging investment while still contributing to the economy.

Increased no.of. retail traders, so government deciding to earn more by imposing tax burden on them. 2nd thing is sebi saying high potential of destabilization... Maybe fii and dii these many years manipulates the direction these many years... As retail investors arrival and trading decision is not informed to fii and dii.. So they may facing loss. So to "stabilize" their market, they trying to restrict retail.

If government really worried about people losing money in F&O they can block F&O trading , they can allow F&O only for hedging purposes who already have stocks in their portfolio

If govt announced business income considered by speculative income while income sourced by F&O or Invest in Indian market may paid by Every Rs.300/- for Earning Rs.1000/-

I believe it will not create much impact, because after Oct 2021 no fresh investment from FIIs, only outflow is there, however still our MFs are pumping money and our market goes HH every day, this will continue in coming days I believe.
