“I genuinely don’t think, there’s anything to gain... by keeping him around” one of the coldest lines of all time
when i saw the show for the 1st time, i would have bet at least 5 dimes that Tony was going to get rid of his future brother in law. but the creative writing of this
show took us to Janice and why she had good reason to get rid of Richie
Perhaps only rivaled by “She slipped.” It’s one thing to say something cold BEFORE whacking someone, but saying it AFTER you’ve bashed in a woman’s face...now, that’s cold AF.

Silvio's always interested me as a character. He actually has many qualities that would in any other context be admirable. Extremely loyal, intelligent, good at communicating, capable of making the right decisions on his own. Always follows the "rules".
And yet he's cold, ruthless, calculating, remorseless. He's someone capable of murder without a moment's second thought, and it's that sociopathy that ultimately makes him a mobster. He's a truly evil man, despite his disarming virtues.
Best I've seen it put. Great actor. Wish he was in more stuff.

Silvio's smile after telling Adriana that Chrissy is going to be fine while knowing he's about to kill her. I never noticed it before but those little quirks REALLY add to the scene. You can fully see the hate in his face for her.
It isn't personal, strictly business.

Sil: Measures were taken..

Charmaine: I fucked Tony.
Silvio comforting Adriana when she cries, acting like a good friend during an elaborate plan to kill her.
Yeah man. Crazy. One of the most allegorical scenes in the series.
Like Henry says in Goodfellas, “If you're part of a crew, nobody ever tells you that they're going to kill you, doesn't happen that way. There weren't any arguments or curses like in the movies. See, your murders come with smiles, they come as your friends, the people who've cared for you all of your life. And they always seem to come at a time that you're at your weakest and most in need of their help.”
It always gets me how she's looking around, KNOWING she's about to be executed and Silvio KNOWING she knows and stops even half-assing being coy, only for when the car stops the reality kicks in and she acts shocked and Silvio is surprised she's so shocked.
It reminds me of a scene in OZ where a female prisoner makes her peace with the fact she can't get out of getting executed, and walks to the chamber with a surprising serene grace...
...Only for all that quiet dignity to get thrown out the window once she saw how they were going to kill her. Awful.
Best part: she starts sobbing and Silvio replies with: "why you cryin he's gonna be fiiiine" followed by a subtle psycho smirk. Fkn love it.
There's a reason he was Tony's number two
Also:
You can literally see Silvio's aura changing from the fake concern for Chris, to the murderous executioner he's about to become.
It's really brilliant acting.

@@James_Price79 You are right though that's not a common skill for one to have . Now while Sil may have never had any affection for Adriana you'd think being around her due to her being Chris's fiance would make him feel somewhat guilty about what he was about to do.
@@BlackangelKatakuri indeed sir, he is definitely a lot more laid back about things! Tony has always been a lot more emotional than Sil. I guess that comes with the territory. The actor playing Jimmy pulled the reaction to the gun off perfect. Notice when he thinks it’s Christopher he’s not even shook (since he outranks him). But when he hears Sil’s voice (the #2 to Tony), he knows his fate has been sealed.
When I noticed the new upload, I came all over the sun visor.
Part of what makes this show great is it doesn't follow the classic TV mentality of 'This character is lying/has other motives, so even if they lie like a normal person in real life, they need to make some sort of side glance or expression afterward to show this'. Part of what makes the scene with Adrianna so terrifying is that Sil is acting the exact same as he normally would be, it makes how he acts and what he does when the car pulls over so much more chilling.
He's my favourite of the bunch because he's usually very level headed, but this and a few other scenes remind me that he's a calculated psychopath.

"I genuinely don't think there's anything to gain by keeping him around" -- one of the best line deliveries of the show, made better by the fact Silvo is mostly diplomatic
For me it’s the way Sil seemed to personally have it out for Adriana, while she’s riding in the car with a literal busted lip from Chrissy putting his hands on her, which Sil knows he did all the time. Knowing that Ade is a civilian, and knowing that she got trapped by the FBI, and knowing that she actually came admitted it to Chrissy. Sil is a monster. Him getting put in a coma was the easy way out for him, that man deserved to be put under the jail. Just being loyal to the acting boss and to the game doesn’t mean shit when you’re a sociopath and a murderer.
despicable piece of trash, like most carachters on this show and the overwhelming majority of people involved in organized crime in general.
That's literally the only time it matters
She was talking to the FBI, he had a right to defend himself.
Chris Tony and sil either didn’t really know or just didn’t care that Ade had almost nothing to give the feds
I like to think that off screen, Silvio's shots were just warning shots. Then he told Adriana, "Yo, let that be a lesson to you about talkin to the Feds, capiche? Alright, get up, stop crying, lets go, we got a flight to Fiji to put you on, you got to lay low for awhile."
🤣
Underrated part: When Sil tells Tony about Burt playing both sides of the fence, Tony’s incredulous and disgusted look followed by him saying “BURT?!?!”
As if to say “Even a low level cock sucker like THAT is trying to take me out?!” 😂
The true varsity athlete is yet to reveal himself
For a low-level guy who'd just been made, Burt had a nice place. Chris was closer to Tony than Burt ever was, but he was still living in a one-bedroom apartment with Ade when he got his button.
Once Chris got his cut it was up to him to do what he whatever he want with his pay and Chris never struck me as a guy who was ever great with finances.

I always feel sorry the way Silvio ended up getting shot and on life support in the hospital until I remember how mercilessly and cold-heartedly he killed Adriana. I know she was an FBI informant but damn Silvio did her dirty when he lied to her and gave her hope that she was going to live pretending to take her to the hospital to see Christopher only to take her into the woods and drag her out of the car and kill her while she begged for her life.
You call that begging?
Yea well whaddya want? Because she was an informant that was the only way to get her in the car she didn’t take omertà but she knew better than to talk and she also tried to flip Christopher
Sil's a scumbag like the rest of them, him executing Adriana is the show reinforcing that it doesn't matter how close you are to someone over the years, they can decide to kill you without hesitation. I felt bad for Ade, but holy shit she was one of the dumbest people on the show, she brought it on herself instead of trying to get a lawyer or asking Chrissy for help when she got pinched by a charge that wasn't even bad.

6:03 this scene would have gone very differently if he had a German shepherd or pitbull. To me Silvio was obvious yet he kept Tony happy and happy enough to be close enough to always hear what he's thinking and never allowed to give the impression he was smarter than Tony while keeping his ear to the ground -- very smart counsel and at the end, he went too quick because the show was ending but he was the closet thing to 'taking over' as anyone could be in his position.
