Know that feeling too well. Met so many people back then on an old account, and i recently checked the account's friend list, and it hits hard when you see that some people haven't logged in for over 3000 days, hits hard man
We are looking at it with rose tinted glasses. It was a hated game at first. People bashed it non stop. The final version is how we remember it and it took a lot of work to get to that point. I had hoped that BF2043 would scratch that same itch but it never did.
@@TheEmolano we have made quite a few advances in game hardware and software technology. Apart from visual improvements there is also room for a more mordern physics engine.
@@NandR Very true! I think the difference is that the issues BF3 and BF4 had after launch were mostly performance-based, but people generally liked the game and wanted it to work. Meanwhile, in BF2043 there were a lot of gameplay mechanics that were changed fundamentally which faced a general lack of understanding and disapproval by most of the community, since they were seen as a downgrade or a step back from where the series had been. Combine that with the performance issues and the blatant ignorance and insult of the EA higher-ups towards the games fanbase and you end up where we are today.
I absolutely love that you honored that 10th birthday this way so well! That game seriously brought a lot of enjoyable moments in life especially given that the people playing were pretty much always very kind and just having tons of fun together, incomparable to today's average gaming (looking at Insurgency: Sandstorm nowadays sadly). I genuinely met a lot of lovely people on BF4 initially on PS4 for me before then life went on and I built myself a PC to enjoy it even more. And yeah, the sheer appreciation I have for all the involved developers and creators is way up there!
@@tommason6197 I disagree. I was a huge fan of BF3 but since I've migrated to BF4 I'm never going back. BF4 has better netcode, more players and better counter-measure weapons while many BF3 servers are heli-abuse fuckfests. BF3 is the legendary game out of the two though and has overall better maps.
@@matenagy9244 yes, BF3 has not a lot of players, but on the weekend you still find many servers, the netcode is definitely worse, BUT the maps are so much better, and there are no bullshit like active radar missiles, op mortars, ucav, mbt law, active protection, rgo impact, ecc. , all things that make BF4 frustrating because you get killed in a very cheap way. Every time I give BF4 a chance I always go back to BF3 and enjoy it so much more.
@@tommason6197 I see your point. If only had they nerfed heli, BF3 would still be my go-to game. BF4 is frustrating sometimes, but it doesn't force me to find another server because there's a no-life heli abuser farming servers 24/7.
I remember playing this game for the first time in an arena with around 40 setups next to eachother at a large convention in London, I believe during the beta, what an experience, as a long term battlefield fan, this footage really put me back in that seat, thank you ❤
Incredible memories from BF4. Still installed and I play a round every now and then. Mastering the RPG heli takedown was my favourite. The pilot's comments were a treat to read. I recall wandering the maps for the little boxes (even though I had them already) and calling them out for other teammate (who were happy to pop over and collect). Even told the other team when I got no bites from my side.
This was the game I used JackFrags settings and REALLY honestly enjoyed more. 2013 I think was the time when "gaming" PC peripherals was a thing. I got headphones and put myself right into BF4. I was a year late to the party, but loved this game on PC. GG's jackfrags.
Probably my fave ever shooter. So many good memories! Dragon's teeth is my fave DLC they released. I don't think I've had the feeling of wanting to jump into a game as much as I did back with BF4.
The conversation around CTE servers is really important. I'm not really up to date with how Dice runs things now, but if they aren't running those community test servers now to influence their games then they really need to. They're so important!
I miss BF4, i remember playing the Beta too and despite the glitches it was an absolute blast. It's easily one of the best games DICE have ever made, and they've made some masterpieces.
One of my favourite games of all time! I remember the day this came out, the terrible months that followed, not being able to load Dawnbreaker, the buggy net code, no sound… But the devs and community persisted, and it has evolved into perhaps the greatest FPS multiplayer game ever made. So many great memories with friends. 🙌
My gosh im Old, BF4 & Bc2 Still my favourite's until today. Still people playing every single day on Ps3 , PS4 and Pc, and I believe this game will never die.
Hey Jack, a week ago was Battlefield 2 Modern Combat's 18th birthday. The game is now back online on ps2/ emulator thanks to a dedicated group that has just revived it. It is to this day the most fun battlefield i have played. I just want more of the community to experience a classic title again that was the start to battlefield on console. I think it would be awesome if you could show this classic game to the battlefield community.
The story, journey and feel that surrounded Battlefield 4 was/is god tier and will never be repeated...the world was a different place back then too! My most played and enjoyed battlefield to date...countless late nights and sick days playing with mates....the laughs too, endless!
Awesome memories and alot of hours spent in this game!!! I remember playing the beta and everyone knocking down the building in this map! I still plan BF4 constantly till this date!! My favorite battlefield game besides Battlefield 2.
I was ten years old when I first played the game, it feels weird going back at 20 and getting flung back into the game as someone mentioned above about having not seen an old friend in a long time and just hitting it off. Amazed to see where it’s come, I genuinely hope it’ll be considered a classic.
Man this hits home, still remember having the soundtrack on repeat on my IPod. A new BF akin to 3 and 4 with a bit of BC2 splashed in, man that would be it!
10 years already? I clearly remember how hyped I was after the beta, but I never actually got hooked like I did in BF3 because of the awful launch. But over the years I have jumped back and played here and there, and it still holds up amazingly honestly.
From the beta day one until Battlefield 1 came out, I loved and played the hell out of this game! Great memories! BF4 will always have a special place in my heart
I remember your first footage from 10 years ago. I remember watching you going into this parking lot and I remember having my mouth wide open. I knew the game would be an absolute amazing, genre-defining, game.
I love how jack titled this because it was NOT ok when it released and very few people mention that when talking about bf4. They say oh it’s the best battlefield, etc when it started out as the WORST at release. Save files would delete, the hit registration was delayed, it was a mess. Dice turned it around though jus like they have with 2042 and it’s a big reason why I personally had faith in 2042. There’s still no excuse for 2042 being released how it was, but bf4 showed me dice wouldn’t leave it behind
I remember meeting some older guys when I was in high school playing this game. One of them liked my custom emblem, it was a Korean flag. And asked if he a can get the emblem too. I added him and gave the emblem and we play together ever since. They treated me like a little brother and we had so much fun together during those times. I miss them all honestly and those times.
Used to play this game with my friend in high school before he passed away. I still have a clip of us doing an air-ground stealth jet swap. Good memories and great times.
I still vividly remember playing this on the 360. Feels like yesterday we were all playing through the messy bug filled game and seeing where it went at the end is just incredible
One of my best memories from this game was playing with an old mate I met on halo reach. He was from NZ I was from Aus and we never met but I knew if I ever went over I’d have to meet him one day. Unfortunately he passed away in a car crash a couple years back and I never got to meet him, but seeing footage of bf3/4 will always take me back to those days. 🖤
Thanks DICE for Battlefield 4 and for the happy childhood you gave me, I was a kid and I remember pre-ordering this game on the PC store, I remember that a new DVD smell, I remember all the greatest moments that associated with this game, this time came quickly, and the game world still doesn't see anything better than this😢
I rented a server on Xbox 1 last night and had a blast with a buddy playing 1v1. Even in its simplest state, it’s an amazing game. Sad day when the servers shut down
It was a very interesting birthday present 10 years ago! Still remember launching it that day, and even though there were issues, it was still a really fun experience!
One of my favorite gaming memories come from playing the beta on xbox 360. A buddy and I were playing obliteration. He had the bomb and was holding off guys on a rooftop. I was in a chopper frantically trying to get to him as I heard his screams for help coming over the coms. He literally had to jump off the roof into my chopper as guys were pouring out of the elevator shooting at us. It felt like a scene from mission impossible. 10 yrs later... I still play with that friend.
Been playing BF with a bunch of guys I met on the ChicagoFragFest Team Speaker server in 2003. We have played Battlefield every Saturday since. Not many of us left anymore, unfortunately. Some have passed away, others have had life just keep them too busy. But BF4 was our heyday and without a doubt our favorite. Miss those days and my dear friends!
Such an incredible game, and the CTE is something I wish we'd see more game devs do. The ability to work with some of the devs in a direct, person-to-person way is incredibly valuable, we all collectively got so many things fixed and/or improved that otherwise would likely never have been, it was such a cool experience.
I was never much of a BF fan until BF4, I got BF3 for pennies once BF4 came out and really just fell in love, and then once I’d got to BF4 everything was “fixed” and it was just glorious. The thousand hours I have in locker alone speaks for itself. Naval strike was… just the most amazing dlc I’d ever seen, it was exactly what I wanted and it delivered. Those maps were beautiful and big, it was so good. 2042 has no… freaking.. naval combat..
I still play this very often on PC. It's still really fun and you get to meet a lot of funny people. I'm glad it's still quite popular, and I hope it stays that way forever
Jack I’ve been watching you since I was a preteen that had just fallen in love with BF3. It’s funny how you’ve become like a childhood classic show that just feels good to watch even though i may not be as interested in the content now lmao
This was my one of two games I built my first computer for. I had a Ps4 pre ordered 3ish months before its launch but just wasn’t excited for it. Decided to build a PC instead. Wanted to have the best rig for this game and Crysis 3. Its unreal that a decade has flown by this quickly.
The phantom program made this game really special as well. The whole community united to solve the riddles with you, Jack at the front! Amazing to look back.
For those of us on console: This was the start to actually seeing large scale gameplay. 7th gen version was locked to smaller versions of the maps capped out at 12vs12 but the 8th gen systems introduced the ability for us to play at its full potential. Was super exciting back then. I very much remember the rubber banding problem playing on PS4. I thought I was alone or something but then Jack actually made a video talking about it. DICE finally fixed the problem a while later, but Jack's vid was my first time seeing someone talk about a problem that I thought I was alone in having. I thought it was only particular to PS4 version because I remember him jumping on that version when he discussed it since he played the multiple different versions of the game.
I played this game when I was 9 years old. It all started with my dad telling me to play for him while he had to do a quick errand. And after that I just kept on playing. Been there since the start so I can kind of say that this game was my childhood

Happier gamer times of my life. I even remember getting up saturday early, like 10 am y login. And all the good players of my area were at that hour playing, you know, the best clans. And it was no discord for me to join although I´m sure they were communicating at some level and I just had the best times with them and they made me a better player too. Other times I played with my friends and it was always hilarious too. But all my footage was on fraps so it´s deleted. All in my memories now. Happy ones.

depressing, i played this game for 1000 hours back when i was like 14 to 16, met so many friends on this game i no longer talk to. Tough time in my life but this game gave me happiness
Know that feeling too well. Met so many people back then on an old account, and i recently checked the account's friend list, and it hits hard when you see that some people haven't logged in for over 3000 days, hits hard man
I really hope to see the day a gem like this gets re-made.
We are looking at it with rose tinted glasses. It was a hated game at first. People bashed it non stop. The final version is how we remember it and it took a lot of work to get to that point. I had hoped that BF2043 would scratch that same itch but it never did.
Why? It din't aged at all.
It’s my favorite
I’m still playing til this day , 4500 hours on ps4/ps5 version and now playing on pc since July 💪🏻🔥this game will never die
I read servers go Down in december
@@torek1006only for 1943 and bad company 1 and 2, bf4 servers aren’t going anywhere anytime soon
@@B58_Nickyou re a legend man 💪 dont let bf4 die ❤
You got maybe 2 years left til this game gets the servers taken down.
@@Shuganuttz Would be a crime since I bet the servers are still popping then
I absolutely love that you honored that 10th birthday this way so well!
This and BF3 was masterful! Best times playing these two!
Along with BF1
BF3 is so much better than BF4
I remember playing this game for the first time in an arena with around 40 setups next to eachother at a large convention in London, I believe during the beta, what an experience, as a long term battlefield fan, this footage really put me back in that seat, thank you ❤
Video hits the feels. Remember staying up late playing this with my best friend on school nights. Thanks man
Good Ol' Days
This game holds a special place in my heart ❤️
The conversation around CTE servers is really important. I'm not really up to date with how Dice runs things now, but if they aren't running those community test servers now to influence their games then they really need to. They're so important!
Battlefield 4 is still the best Battlefield game ever. 👀
One of the best.
Agreed
Personally, I find battlefield 2 better, but battlefield 4 is still very good. Close second.
BF3, BF BC, and BF1!
The BF2 to BF1 era is just untouchable, the best FPS games ever made.
I miss BF4, i remember playing the Beta too and despite the glitches it was an absolute blast. It's easily one of the best games DICE have ever made, and they've made some masterpieces.
One of my favourite games of all time!
I remember the day this came out, the terrible months that followed, not being able to load Dawnbreaker, the buggy net code, no sound…
But the devs and community persisted, and it has evolved into perhaps the greatest FPS multiplayer game ever made.
I remember Backstab was my favorite map for BF2 Modern Combat.
@@johnwstruhar Backstab needs a modern remake ASAP
This game got so many memories man 😢 idk why, but everytime i looked BF4 clip/gameplay makes me sad and want those days come back again.
This game holds a special place in my heart. It got me through some tough times ❤
Thanks jack for reminding us all of our own mortality, time never stops moving.
Wait, do you hear that clock ticking in the background? Unus annus unus annus unus annus
Basically my same experience
I turned 20 recently, and I started playing BF4 when it first released, so I've basically played it (on and off) for half of my life
Still my favorite Battlefield game. Legendary.
From the beta day one until Battlefield 1 came out, I loved and played the hell out of this game! Great memories! BF4 will always have a special place in my heart
I have played this game a lot. I hope they will make a reboot of it
Why? thousands of people still play it. There a servers for every game mode, including DLC maps.
@@mickvd4 to make it huge again. And for better graphics.
@@Deregimate Graphics hold up very well today imo
@@Deregimateon PC it still looks amazing it’s aged really well.
This is my favorite game from the Battlefield series. I will never forget all these unique Easter Eggs and great time spent with my friends
Love the Battlefield videos Jack, keep em coming
Bf4 also launched Jack’s RUclips career. The best gift of all.
Still my favourite game of all time.
the title aged me another 10 years THANKS A LOT JACK
One of the best games ever made in my opinion!
I still vividly remember playing this on the 360. Feels like yesterday we were all playing through the messy bug filled game and seeing where it went at the end is just incredible
Amazing how a lot of COD is abandoned and a lot of BF games still have full servers
Thanks DICE for Battlefield 4 and for the happy childhood you gave me, I was a kid and I remember pre-ordering this game on the PC store, I remember that a new DVD smell, I remember all the greatest moments that associated with this game, this time came quickly, and the game world still doesn't see anything better than this😢
Picked it up in 2021 on Xbox for like $6 can still find full conquest servers, it's still so good
BATTLEFEILD 4 is that one game that i'll forever love, no game today can compare to how good it felt to play bf4, even the bad games were so much fun!
I rented a server on Xbox 1 last night and had a blast with a buddy playing 1v1. Even in its simplest state, it’s an amazing game. Sad day when the servers shut down
this game makes me so emotional.. so many great memories tied to this game i refuse to let it go. I wish I could go back to those days
Have very happy memories of my dad. bringing me this game near release, played with him all the time with our ps3
Wish it wasn’t so old 😢. Best gaming moments and best “only in bf” moments. Why couldn’t 2042 just be like this. All we asked for
I still play this very often on PC.
I'm still playing it. One of the best fps with amazing sound experience.
Lives in my heart used to play this with my best mate who has since passed away. I just wish we could go back to this level of dedication and passion
SOOOO many memories are coming back watching these old clips ... really THE. BEST. BATTLEFIELD.
I played this game when I was 9 years old. It all started with my dad telling me to play for him while he had to do a quick errand. And after that I just kept on playing. Been there since the start so I can kind of say that this game was my childhood
Man, bf4 was my transition from xbox 360 to xbox one and I was obsolutely amazed by all the differences. Went from 12v12 to 32v32. Bf4 was my childhood
For me one of the creaziest things is that i feel like Jack is my friend. I mean, ive been watching him since the bf3 machinima i think its 12 years. Im 22 years old, ive known Jack for 12 years. Tutorials, late nights, shenanigans. Jack i just came to a realize that you influenced me so much even in my game style, you made me a gamer mate. tought me rendezooks, tricks, tips, which games are good. All i wanna say is THANK YOU and that i feel old too. Man its time for a face reveal comon
For your own good, look up parasocial relationships because you're in one mate
my favourite game , played from late 2014 to mid 2021 every single day. had more than 4 accounts with all unlocks , so many memories , such a good game
All due respect to BF3, this was the one. And having A Theme for Kjell playing in the back is very nearly tearjerking.
I’m 24 now and wish I could have that magical immersive feeling of playing this while I was younger. I hope the gaming industry and FPS games change for the better and we can all get that dose of 2013 BF4 again one day! Those were the days I recall the most
Damn thats nostalgic! Started BF4 2013 on X-Box 360, later i switched to X-Box One and now i still play it on the Series X. Loving it!
I love how the severs are still going strong I was a cod kid all the time and I was like let me watch this gameplay of bf4 and I was hooked and completely switched to battlefield. I love it
so many memories with this game. remember the anti-thermal suit you could unlock by flipping little switches around dragon valley, and then having to transcribe morse code to unlock it. lol. we might never get a game like this again in our lifetime, but at least we were here to experience it.
I remember being 15yr old coming home from high school and playing this!! What a good time!!
Being able to take part in the CTE from the start was amazing. I remember at the time I was playing those servers more than the actual game.
The one thing I remember is playing BF4 and just never, never, never getting bored. I want that again for BF
Sound design, levelution, realistic art design, and tight gunplay.....still can't be beat to this day
Happier gamer times of my life. Happy ones.
this kind of footage is so special to me Jackfrags. Just remembering the insane beta games, they had the craziest energy every time
Man.. i miss bf4. I miss watching the collab squad up videos too! Xfactorgaming, matimio, jackfrags and levelcap.. good memories
