Hey brother, the two-pin receptical is made for the Dometic and arb fridges. The 12v plug from the coolers unscrew in half & then plug into the 2-pin receptical. Then screw it to the plb and it won't vibrate out. Great for overlanding or anytime really. The spring pins on the plugs lose their rigidity over time so they eventually slide out. Not good to get the campsite and the cooler has been off because the plug came loose. I figured you knew this but maybe others didn't. Thanks for your videos. Keep em coming. Ken.
Awesome! Stoked you are enjoying the Dometic gear as well. Since the review, I have still been using the set up everyday. It is so nice being able to keep things safely chilled in the summer heat! That CFX 25 looks like a great alternative for saving space too. Thanks for sharing your experience with us! Take care - Sean
Hey Sean. I just stumbled upon your channel. Great video. I have the exact setup! I've had the Im55 for about a year now and it is a game changer. Just recently picked up the PLB40 and will have it's first use in a couple of weeks for a 4 day trip. I currently have a Jackery 100w portable solar panel which I hope can re-charge the PLB40, but I like your idea of the Renogy panel on your RTT. I have an Ikamper Skycamp hard shell RTT and I think the Renogy setup is my next step for a more permanent solution for recharging the battery. Thanks for the inspiration! Happy trails.
Hello Mark! Thank you for the kind words! Stoked you are enjoying the Dometic set up as well. It really is a game changer. Just got back from another camping trip and it kept all of our food and beverages perfectly cold. I think you will really enjoy the solar on top. The PLB40 makes it easy to integrate. Take care and happy trails! Sean
Hello :) great video! I am currently trying to figure out this setup with my dometic and dometic battery. The solar panel I bought is bougeRV. Do I need an MC4 adaptor cord? Thanks
Good review Sean! Just wondering if that beeping sound from the Dometic PLB40 at night time ever stopped? Or if there was ever a better solution than plugging out the solar connection every night? Also if you ignored the beeping would that be okay? Like it wouldn’t damage anything if you kept it all plugged in overnight
Hey! Thanks for the nice note. Sorry for the delay. Was at the Overland Expo (lots of cool gear!) The PLB40 stopped making the sound eventually. I dont think it was because of fault. Maybe the speaker got tired!?! I wound up going with a Goal Zero battery about 6 months after this video (more watts, more connections) and have not had any issues.
Will the rear 100W AC port in the 4Runner charge the PLB40? Obviously only works with the truck on, but wondering if that port provides enough power to charge the battery while still running the cooler of the battery at the same time.
When you sleep in your tent at this cold temperatures, don't you have a heater running, like Mr. Heater Portable Buddy? You could place your PLB40 in your tent to keep it warm. By the way, what kind of solar panel are you using?
Hey Rafael! I don’t use a heater when camping. I do have great sleeping bags and quilts though! Good idea on using the PLB40 for that option though. The solar panel is a Renogy 100w flexible. It’s so good! I will find the exact model here in a bit.
Hey man, recently bought one of these and hooked it up to the exact same 100watt solar panel that you have and when charging through the solar I receive a warning light and bleeping. Think it might have something to do with the panel charging current possibly overwhelming the battery? Just wondering if you experienced anything like this with your set up?
Oh man! I have not encountered that before. So weird. I would call up the solar panel company. Hope that it is an easy fix. Sorry I am not of more help with this.
Hi! First of all, I love your videos, always great content! I was looking to purchase this fridge but I am concern about the riveted seam inside. It looks like humidity or water could leak inside the walls, what are your thoughts/opinion about that? Thank you very much.
Thank you VERY much! I really appreciate that :) Good question. I have been using this everyday since it came in, about 6 months ago. I have not had any water leak inside the walls. The construction seems to be top notch. We have been loving this set up too. Hope that helps you my friend!
Nice review. The only thing I would disagree with you on is adding a locking mechanism. That just makes it worse if the 2 legged animals decide they really want something out of there and tear it up to get in. I'd just rather they take what they want and leave the fridge. IJS

Hey Ken! Thank you for sharing this. I am sure it will help a lot of people. Really appreciate you!
This is the exact same setup I’m looking at running with a roofnest/solar panel. Thanks for the review!
Awesome!! Super stoked this helped.
Sean, Terrific talk through on your setup. Gave me some ideas.
Awesome!! 🙌. Glad to hear that. Thanks for the great note! Happy adventures!
I get mine in next week, I can't wait!
Sweet!! Stoked for you! You will love it.
Great products from Dometic. Have the same cooler and battery. Also picked up their new CFX3 25 for day trips to take on the beach 👍🤙

Anyway you could share the solar panel information?
Thank you!
Here is a link for 10% off. It’s the 100w flexible panel

Hey mate, is there a need for a fridge there? I’m from Australia where it’s frigging hot!
Great information, I really appreciate you.
What type of solar panels do you run
Thank you very much! We started using these late last year. Love em - ruclips.net/video/J22oWup2oPc/видео.html

That is a great question! I have not tried that yet. But can! I expect it will, as it has more wattage than the solar panel does.
@@Engearment thanks for the reply. Interested to hear how it works if you get the chance to try it.

@@Engearment Yeah I think I may have to, Thanks for the response!
I just got a plb40 and cfx3 35, I tested it at home, I filled the fridge up with food, pre chilled the fridge and got 68 hours out of the battery
That is fantastic! Very helpful. Thanks for the good test on the fridge and battery. They are impressive units and we use ours daily. Take care!
What cable did you use to connect the solar panel to the pl40? Was it included with the panel?
Yes, the cable was included. I will find the exact name of the connector. It’s fairly common though.
@@Engearment so you did need to buy a connector? Was it mc4 to Anderson?
@@chasebasile8767 I did not need to buy one. I believe it is an Anderson Power Pole.

Thanks for the great video! Does the cooler keeps the temperature low even when it's really hot outside?
Yep! Used it on 105F days. Takes more energy from the battery, but it works perfectly well.
@@Engearment Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer!
@@mironclaw Happy to help!
Great video thanks for sharing! Wondering if the handles are removable?
Thank you Mountain Man! Loving this cooler. I will see if the handles are removable and get back to you!
Just checked, and can confirm, that the handles are removable.
Which solar panel did you use up top?
Renegy 100w and 75w - amzn.to/3bzAX5Q

That is good insight. I did not think of that. I am usually more worried of the two legged animals LOL
$2000 + solar panel? Seem a bit extreme in cost, especially for not working in the cold.
Jackery all the way. PLB40 is just overpriced. My Jackery 1000 runs my CFX3 45, four to five days. If I need more I plug in two solar panels.
Good to know! I will reach out to them to learn more.
