Do you have to take the dc plug out of the car if you are camping ? Or does it see it doesn't get any power from the car anymore and closes that 'port' until it gets power from the car again ?
I got it today and I am loading it before first use right now. Everything was ok untill it stucked at 96%. What is going on? And I have a second question. Can I get any storage bag for it?
tiDEHUNter Dometic states that their PLB40 will last 2000 charge cycles at 80% discharge per cycle. (Discharging deeper than 20% remaining battery may shorten that lifespan, so 80% is a good rule of thumb with Lithium batteries).
Hi, Great review. Please inform me. Do you have any test or any info on how many hours the CFX 75 DZ can run on the PLB40 fully loaded on the standard settings for the 75 DZ?
Does the dc cord for the battery also have the removable end and 2 pin plug? I would like to install the hardwire kit to use with my cfx3 but if i buy the battery, i would like to keep it plugged into the vehicle so it charges whenever the ignition is on. I would definitely prefer to use the 2 pin plug on both connections. Fridge to battery, battery to vehicle.
There's a charge controller in the PLB 40. Here's a good video from Mark in Australia on the PLB and the Dometic solar blanket. ruclips.net/video/hVPejHc0ZU8/видео.html
if i run a cfx75 duel in a fridge and freezer mode(fully loaded) with a dometic 150w blanket (on a sunny day in full sun light)would it run cfx75 and charge plb40.or would you recommend a larger blanket?
THE KRAKEN If the 75 is fully loaded it will consume about 1Ah. A 120W Overland Solar Charger, for example, will produce 6 Ah in decent sunlight (these panels do well in off-axis situations as well), so you sould net positive. If you have a solar charger that needs full sunlight across all cells, be sure to monitor its position to get the best out of it.
@mainlineoverland Thinking about this fridge and the ARB elements fridge. I want to run it in the bed of my truck where it is open to all the elements. Would this fridge hold up in the bed of my truck? Is it durable like the ARB Elements fridge?? Thank you in advance.
The Dometic Fridge is designed for mostly interior storage and occasional outside deployment when tailgating, camping, etc. It is pretty water resistant, but it is important to avoid submerging the compressor vents in wet conditions.
TAMBI KHOUT Fridge performance is always subject to the ambient temperature the fridge lives in, and the extent to which the fridge is full. With a full fridge it would draw about 1Ah for both temp zones, or .5Ah for just one zone.
Dara Chukwuma Raphael This is a DC power unit for use in remote areas, or for charging fridges and devices when AC or “shore power” is impaired or unavailable. It can be re-charged with solar, so it is suitable for boondocking or during extended power outages.
tiDEHUNter The PLB40 provides 40Ah of charge, and the fridges draw roughly 1 Amp per hour-so should last most of the weekend on one charge. You can also charge while discharging, so if you are driving you can have the PLB40 connected to your car while it is powering the fridge. Adding a 120W Overland Solar Bugout Panel (plugs directly into the PLB40) will provide the same recharging capability while at camp. All of these items are available to browse or purchase on mainlineoverland.com 👍
Dometic uses their own "variable speed" compressor design. This allows the compressor to cool down quickly to get the fridge down to temperature, then cycle when necessary to maintain temperature.
@@MWDAdventures The PLB40 provides 40Ah of charge (40 hours, or essentially a weekend), and was designed around the CFX40W Fridge, which is one of their most popular sizes. Ambient temperature and how full/ empty are also factors into the rate of cycle on the fridge.
That is a very impressive piece if equipment. When you Show an item to the camera. Please stop moving the item around in your hand and show it to the camera. You move it so fast and take it out of frame so fast I can’t see it to look at it.
MainLineOverland Thanks. I’ll look there. I’m older and hard of hearing. It’s hard for me to keep up with all of you fast talking young people. I will look there. Will you be At Overland Expo East? I have my attendee ticket and will be there the entire weekend. I am looking forward to extreme overland gear porn overload.........and solar.
Thank you for your job, man!

Wil blp battery will suffer if i will left it charging from AC and run coooler all the time?
What a terrific review and video coverage.
Thanks, great review.
Does it have to be used with the fridge or is it a power station for small appliances?
How long is the lifespan of the battery? 3 years? 5 years?

So you probably won't use this thing in a single day so that's basically 2000 days and up
Awesome setup

Super awesome review. Thank you!

The 12V mail plug does unscrew to a 2-pin screw tight option.
Solid review and great camera work!
Pixel Bokeh Productions Thanks!
Do you have any insight into using a solar charger? I’m confused by dometic. They say

Is this special edition still available? Shipping to US? Thanks...
Will it run a waeco fridge as well with there cords
Waeco and Dometic should use the same cords- traditional push-in DC or screw-in 2 pin DC plug.

@@MainLineOverland cheers for the reply
If charging from home. No over charging?
tiDEHUNter The PLB40 has a built-in BMS (Battery Monitoring System), which keeps the unit from overcharging.

Thanks alot , for how long can we use with 75L dometic?

I have the cfx 75DZ constant at 5 degrees, the outside temp 30 degrees, I could use it for 38 hours, when the plb was empty.
What's the economic benefits of this product, since there is stable electricity supply

Is it possible to send to Brazil ?
Andrea Schloss We are only able to ship to U.S. addresses. Check Dometic’s website for the region that ships to your area: www.dometic.com/en-us/us

Stop shaking those plugs when you demonstrate them... 😀
That's AC supply
great idea, but over priced even when on sale, why waste your time on 40 amps, need 100 amps min
Higher Amp options on the way 😉
