11:07. Correction. I made a small mistake. The ‘Aero Top’ or ‘Targa Top’ used Aluminium for the removable roof. Coupe hard top was conventional steel.

Awesome Review! The best Supra review I have seen in a long time! You really did your homework and I learned a lot of new stuff about the Supra. And I thought I knew everything about these cars. The Supra interior was highly criticized for being to plain for such an expensive car.
But that was Toyota's goal to keep your eyes on the road and not have to reach too far to get to the controls. The auto climate was the simplest and easiest to use out of all its competitors. Just a push of a button and 2 quick turns of the dials and you were set! No fancy pictograph climate screen here.

Also the Celica Supra was badged as the Celica XX for the JDM market in both generations. The A70 was the the first time the Supra badge was ever used on a JDM car. Great channel, I love your enthusiasm and knowledge and the clear passion that is evident in all your videos!

The a80 looks good in all forms. I took a spin in a 550 horsepower single turbo. It can do 750 but kept it as a street friendly to enjoy

Great in depth review, but one more small correction: the 2JZ-GTE first appeared in the JZS147 Aristo 3.0V before the A80 Supra.
Also, have you ever found out why Toyota used the letter V on its turbo inline 6 90s sedans? Both Aristo generations, JZX90/100/110 Tourer V’s, JZS171 Crown Athlete V

@@moisesezequielgutierrez yup, I've read somewhere a guy in Japan takes his mk4 out to track sessions, & people are surprised to see the supra on-track. I guess people just assume supras are either dragsters, high power streetcars or dyno queens.

@@izzdin6228 Yeah, the A80 is not the best or the perfect handling cars by any means and compared to the other Japanese sports Cars of the time, but it's really good. I'm not an A80 owner but with the right mods, tunings, and settings, and enough driving skills, these "Japanese muscles" can handle really well and show some nimble movements.

I've wondered if the reason why 1/2JZ engines are so good at being durable with power mods is due to Toyota planning to increase the power output in anticipation to the Gentleman's agreement being lifted. Either that or they just wanted an extremely durable 325 hp engine that will last 200,000+ miles. Great review! It would be cool to see a similar review on a JZX100.

These videos are phenomenal with the info and the Japan setting makes me feel like a watching a real Tokyo Extreme Racer video game or the early days of Gran Turismo on the early playstations. His info and presentations are just some of the best online to date. Especially with one of our all time favorite JDMs of all time! The Toyota Supra! I completelly understand the owner of this A80 he has the same opinion and feel on this car. Supra's don't need any bodykits or crazy exterior additives at all, the body lines are perfect in any means. Sometimes factory option is the way to keep. The only thing Supra needs is to unleash all the locked potential it hides, I'm talking about the factory could easily released this chassis with 550-600hp back in 90's. Thanks JDM masters, good video!

Imagine if *JDM Masters* added an additional segment to each review in which they'd take the car of the day to a circuit to test it at the level the car was built to perform at.
This extra level of scrutiny would be especially helpful when reviewing cars - such as the MK4 Supra - that don't seem to be known for their prowess as time attack machines, providing a way of assessing just _how good_ the handling supposedly is.. it's one thing to say that the handling is excellent when you're driving at the speed limit on a minor road - or even worse - the car is parked in a bay!
You two are the so called *JDM Masters,* and at least one of you has probably possessed a race license at some point. Let's put that prestige to the test; given your frequent high quality content, I don't see why it would be out of the question...
Just think: Hot Ones, but _in English._ Imagine the views! One guy's tuned Supra Vs another guy's tuned Supra on the circuit. Given the owners' choice of aero and power upgrades, which is more effective?? Stock Supra Vs 600HP Supra. How much faster is it and is it worth the money??
If you say you wouldn't watch that you're lying.

divinasion Thank you for your suggestion. It’s is something that we have in our vision for sure. Yes. Both of us have done circuit before. Myself as a competitor in series. So we always have that in mind. As the channel is still young and we are building resources from basically private funding, to have a circuit test for each car is something not really feasible until later. There will always be that opportunity for similar cars in such an environment. For now real world testing for the everyday man where even on the mountain roads (Touge) is possible and realistic to extract handling characteristics.

    • @divinasi0n
      @divinasi0n 4 года назад +4

It's really great to hear both you and your audience share the same ambitions for the channel! It's totally understandable that you wouldn't be able to produce such high budget, TV grade content just yet, however given your rate of growth since the channel's recent inception, it shouldn't be too long before you can make millions of JDM fans' happy. (Yes, millions. Just look at the traffic some other channels get, despite a lack of any authentic connection to JDM motorsport.)
I'm willing to bet that many of your subscribers are of the same mind; that if you're a RUclipsr and the purpose of your channel is to build out sports cars to do burnouts and highway pulls, you've missed the point entirely. I look forward to seeing you test the characteristics of a car with an aero kit equipped _to make it drive better_ - not just to make it look cooler. (also, everyone and their mother seems to have a Patreon these days. I don't know if that would help but just a thought ;)

I agree with the FD RX-7 and Supra part, where the design and body is so good, beautiful and cool.

I lost it laughing when you started shuffling through the center console. Looking through the mans things, all out on display.

If you do another Supra in the future, why not an A70? There are plenty of JDM-only A70 models that are quite interesting, notably the Turbo A and Twin Turbo R. Hell, even the 1G-equipped models are interesting due to their narrow body compared to export models.

Георгий Комогорцев Yes! The Colt Ralliart Version R does have a Getrag gearbox. One of the fewer known cars with one.

Great video. I like the presenter, nice guy and clearly has done his homework on the cars he is describing. As an Evo enthusiast I really liked his other 2 evo videos as well. My 95 Evo 3 arrives to the US next week and I own an 05 Evo 8 MR which I've built into a racecar of sorts. Cheers from the USA!

This still looks better then the RX7. The design still looks modern where the RX7 with the flip up looks you know right away it’s a old car. The Supra can’t be beat design wise.
    Great video man

17:07 Did no one see that the camshaft ventilation is open ? Very clever spitting oil on the exhaust side.

MKIV Supra fuel tank is made from plastic, the part touched was the external metal cover.

John Brown Yes. That’s right. 👍The main tank is made of plastic. But for safety the cover was still made of metal.
