    A great review - thank you. And congratulations on having reached the 3K subscribers mark!
    A while ago, I wanted a twin prop in MSFS and didn't want the Seneca for various reasons. I was intending to buy the Milviz 310 but, back in March before it was released, I received an email from TDS to say that using their GTNXi was being included as an option in the Flysimware 414. I hadn't even heard Flysimware were making one. However, seeing that it was in beta and therefore reduced in price, I decided to buy it instead of the 310 - the main reason being that the 414 is turbo-charged and has a pressurised cabin, letting me fly higher and faster than the 310 would allow. Witnessing its evolution into the aeroplane it is today has been very interesting; I've enjoyed flying it from the day I bought it and don't regret my choice one bit. Seeing how much work has gone into the 414 to date, I am sure that if the possibility exists for working CBs and maintenance elements to be included in future updates, they will be.
    Congratulations Flysimware, and thank you, for having produced such a great GA aircraft for MSFS; I know it's been a labour of love but believe me - all the blood, sweat and tears have been worth it!

    Brilliant review, thank you! My new criteria for a "study level" addon (including in X-Plane) is the Fenix A320 and the Flysimware's Cessna 414AW is very close behind. In the cockpit, I can almost smell the characteristic mixture of plastic heated by the sun and engine oil like in the C172 from my private pilot lessons and the sound of the engines is like music that I never tire of! Circuit breakers that don't work won't interest me until random outages are programmed -A subscriber to your very professional and informative channel.

    Hi there.
    I just wanted to state that your content is exactly what I was looking for.
    I have a SEP PPL and I am a (former) Cat B1 and now Part-145 QM that simply lives for aviation.
    Due to financial constraints I barely fly twice a month, usually Diamond Katanas that I utterly hate.
    Your video drove me to get the 414, which I love from minute 1.
    The fidelity of the model and its‘ flight modeling just takes you away.
    This is -so far- the closest to real flying.
    By the way, your comments on the 337 are -for me- spot on.
    It really compares to flying a 210, which I am quite used to (I am a big Cessna and Piper high wing fan boy).
    Pleas keep on doing those videos as they are amazing, especially for real life flyers.

      Thanks! Generally if it’s small and doesn’t burn much fuel we have lots of them. C150s and 152s are really popular, as are Pa28s. Our company operates Diamond DA42s as they run on Jet A fuel, which is much cheaper.

Such a lot of informtions brought me to buy this plane a few minutes ago✌🏼 One thing: your friend on the mic is very hatd to understand at the beginning because he is speaking so fast… Your stall manouver at 01:32 looked to me as a spin finally which you could have recovered with right rudder (against turn direction) maybe. But thanks again for your great work! Boris 🇨🇭

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  Год назад

      Yep, we’re trying some different things to improve Nathan’s audio for future videos. Yes I’m aware that we were in a spin, I had full opposite rudder and down elevator held in throughout! The 414 is very hard to recover from a spin promptly and we didn’t have much height to do it in. I also think the wing level function was inadvertently applying aileron which wasn’t helping!

  • @adjuaadama6623
    @adjuaadama6623 2 года назад +3

    Yeah, this is a plane I've been using/updating since the beginning, and I am very impressed with the level of detail and feel the designers have given it. This, to me, is the G.A. smaller twin equivalent in quality as what Fenix and Fly-By-Wire have given us regarding the A320, minus the circuit breakers. I'm not surprised that this is based on one of the designer's own C414, as an aircraft owner would attempt to meticulously model what they enjoy flying in the real world. As far as the Garmin, I use the TDS since that uses the exact Garmin trainer as the basis. The PMS model does not even though it's a good unit for the sim. But some of the features aren't modeled properly since it works in line with the MSFS 2020's FMS systems in general. I've used the 650 in a twin here in the U.S., and any addon that uses the Garmin trainer works absolutely like the real Garmin units. The TDS does that, just like Reality-XP does for other sims.

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  2 года назад

      I’ll have to try the TDS at some point - the only thing that puts me off is that I think you can’t update the AIRAC cycle on it?

    • @adjuaadama6623
      @adjuaadama6623 2 года назад +1

      @@FlyFromHome Correct, though there is a 'database' button option that appears when it first boots, so I don't know if they are building an option for that later, but its primary database remains the same because it uses the Garmin trainer database that comes directly from the company. I think you can update that one if you have a Garmin subscription for the real units in the plane, though. But that database is fairly recent still - from last spring of '21, so it's fine for the vast majority of approaches and fixes (at least here in the U.S.). But for those who want to learn the real units and all of their features/behaviors, you'll want those that use the trainer; it gives you everything, and as it is. Its interaction with the autopilot is also more realistic: For example, MSFS 2020 draws a course line when you hit 'direct', and the plane flies back to that line before going direct, whereas with the TDS, you hit 'direct' and it will turn immediately toward the fix from the present location, unless you chose 'activate leg.' It can also fly fully coupled LPV approaches in the sim as well.

    FSW did a wonderful job on the C414. I flew Cessna 404 and 421s early in my career and the 414 is very similar. I noticed your mention of lots of right rudder on takeoff. That may be a sim-ism. I do not remember the need for lots of right rudder on takeoff and climb out on the 400 series airplanes. It’s been 20 years since having flown a twin Cessna, but overall, this is a wonderfully accurate add on airplane and worth every penny.

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  Год назад

      That’s probably just my cheap, lightweight plastic pedals then 😂 I have to have the sensitivity turned down to avoid over controlling with them so any rudder inputs are quite exaggerated.

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad Год назад +1

      @@FlyFromHome the rudder input is required on my PC also. The huge amount of rudder input must be a MSFS characteristic. There have been times full rudder is required to keep the airplane on the runway with just a 10 knot crosswind. The rest of the airplane makes up for it and the rudder input isn’t the fault of FSW. This is the only airplane I’ve flown in MSFS for the last three weeks. It’s great fun, it brings back memories, and flying it is like putting on an old pair of pants.

      The logic is that it’s very hard to maintain the 5 degree AoB and slip ball position on instruments in hard IMC when you’re stressed out trying to work out why your engine just stopped lol. Lots of debate to be had on the subject though I’m sure!

    • @dahenriques
      @dahenriques Год назад +1

      @@FlyFromHome : I'm afraid we'll simply have to respectfully disagree on this one. Naturally there is a LOT of stress involved when an engine goes down in IMC. This is ASSUMED in good multi-engine training. This however doesn't change the aerodynamics involved with the situation. Hard or easy, with an engine down the aircraft is either configured to handle sideslip or it isn't. A centered ball forces the aircraft to maintain sideslip and this isn't considered good practice ( over here with us argumentative colonials anyway :-)
      The objective with solid training is ALWAYS to place the emphasis on what is best for the aircraft as opposed to what is "easy" for the pilot.
      I would be hard pressed to discover even one solid source in our training manuals over here that advocates centering the ball with one engine out.
      But with your permission I'll depart this exchange at this point in the interest of international relations and simply assume we have a friendly disagreement on this issue.

    Couple of general flight questions for you & nathan if you don't mind: (apologies if I missed them).
    - The electric fuel pumps have a sound a little like an alarm, do you fly with these on always even in normal cruise? On for takeoff and landing and not sure on postion for climb/cruise?
    - The gear warning for pulliung back throttles - can it be silenced when doing manouvers or not?
    - RPM Manifold for cruise are 2300 rpm? and 3000 (manifold?) little unsure of target needles for climb, cruise and decent
    -The autopilot IAS selector? little confused about this plane doesn't have auto throttle does it? Is it just a pitch for speed control?

      - Electric fuel pumps go off in the cruise, unless you have a mechanical fuel pump failure
      - Don’t believe there’s a warning horn cutout (there isn’t in the aircraft I fly irl either!)
      - It depends if you want a fast cruise or something more fuel efficient. There’s a power settings table in the manual I believe.
      - The IAS mode is what you use to climb and sometimes for descents too. It pitches the aircraft to maintain the selected IAS.
      - White arc is always the most limiting flap speed aka the third one. The speed placards are next to the levers for the limiting speeds.
      - WT version uses the WT autopilot, which is more fancy but I believe requires the PMS50 GTN750 instrument installed.
      Hope this helps! I’ve got a bunch of other videos where I fly the 414 if you need any more inspiration.

    I have definitely had that spin happen with the same results unexpectedly with several top rated paid aircraft in msfs 2020. Every time it happens I lmao because it’s “not how it’s supposed to work” but it’s always amusing. I think they tried to model people making the mistake of putting the plane into the hard spin a little to well. You can get it to do it intentionally as expected but sometimes it happens when it shouldn’t as well. Either way it’s always good for a laugh unless it’s the end of a long flight about 500 ft from the runway. Something else to think about, prop sync wasn’t on and this as you pointed out is an aircraft props spin in the same direction. I would expect putting it into a spin should be a little easier than one with counter roaring props. Anyway, that’s not the worst uncontrollable spin I’ve seen or had in msfs 2020. Always good for a laugh. Still watching the video but I’m wondering if engine damage is correctly modeled. Milviz apparently did well on the 310 with that regard. Great review so far thank you!

    I bought this Cessna 310 from Milviz and I want to point out one thing people should know. All those systems make it very difficult for my CPU (AMD 5800x) to keep up, normally my RTX 3080 graphics card is around 99% utilization, but with the Cessna 310 it's down to 58% and inputs from my TrackHat are a little bit delayed which clearly indicates that the CPU is a little behind with all my inputs, which makes the feeling of flying less realistic. I get about 80 fps so it's kind of fun 🧐. So if you are unhappy with the performance of the standard planes you will definitely regret buying the more advanced ones.

      3 days later I finally finished watching ...
      Well: my own conclusion on this is I wish the team had done the 310! ground handling on this feels much better and I agree generally it's got the edge - some bits of the 310 just aren't quite right from the POV of someone who's job was amongst other things to analyse behaviour/kinematics - but... it's a very wierd aircraft to have in a sim. The 310 is a GT car, a bit heavy, not too big, fairly maneuverable, and this is like ... a 7 series BMW or something, a bizjet for people who can't afford to run a jet - so it's a cumbersome beast that either feels underpowered for travelling, or unwieldy. It's not the fault of the model at all, it's just the plane itself. Maybe it'll grow on me, it might be something I'd like flying in a group. Also, I will try and do a bare metal retro paint...
      The A2A Comanche is going to be interesting.

While your friend's voice has been recorded with much better volume and clarity than last time, nothing can be done about the fact that he's from a certain part of the UK that us 'Mericans can't quite follow.
