"Best to just swim for it, AYE?" good to see the kiwi lingo rubbing off on ya Taku, by the end of your trip you'll be signing off vids with " CHUUUUR THE BROS"!
Hey Taku, not sure if you're still here in New Zealand or not, but if not, next time you're here you really need to see if you can into some of our Koura, (fresh water crayfish) they are absolutely amazing to catch and eat. Sweet and delicate little things I think you'll love! Please keep enjoying and show casing this beautiful little country of ours!
Greetings from Redondo Beach CA 🇺🇸. Watching this video brought me to this place from the comfort of my home. Nothing beats a fresh caught fish 🐠 for sashimi.
Another great vid, was a pleasure to meet you at the Bunnings store in silverdale the other day, couldn’t believe my eyes as I was walking out and you were walking in 😂 happy trails.
Hey Taku if you guys head back up north try around Whangarei. There’s some wicked land based spots out Whangarei heads were I’m based and also just north of plus plenty of hidden gems to camp at , there’s a nice treat of a spot to park up at not far from where I am
Nice, been watching and rewatching your vids ! Loved your visit to visit relatives in Japan... Been harvesting butter clams and surf perch for great ceviche... mussels with wine ! 26:55 "I'm really craving Soy Sauce and Wasabi..." aye mate where's your Mac's beer ? BIG shout out to Joslyn ! Keeping the camp fires burning !
Dude I live in NZ would love to take you back country trout fishing love your videos makes me proud wen your in my home country keep up the awesome work
Yo, reach out to Briggsy, Brooksy, and Cavy, the MorningTide boys! Im sure they would love to co-lab with you! They do a lot of land based fishing in that region. Briggsy and Cavy also do occasional catch and cooks.
Fantail Bay at the top end of 'Da Mandelz' on the Firth-side not the Pacific side was my weekend getaway spot. Kahawai, Kingz, Snapper and Trevz, nice Squid too. Spot you paddled out to looked pretty promising, i would have just dropped a berley bomb in the wash right at your feet or in that gap between the rocks at the end 🤷♂️ Getting the combination of the turn to incoming tide with first 2 to 3 hours from crack of dawn is the key for the freight train Kingies. Also try Tipitai Point/Wattle Bay/Orpheus in the Awhitu Peninsula for massive Kahawai, Trevally and biggest Kingies ive seen other than White Island... launch your kayak at Wattle Bay to get to Tipitai Point (known as Cake Island by us local boys) but be warned... the current of the outgoing tide is freaking insane, like deadly😮 Big Crays, Octopus, and Great Whites😮 Dead low to incoming first 3 hours then book it outta there in last hour top of tide, dont be paddling when it turns to go out😬
What! I mentioned in your previous episode that I have only just tried Kahawai (aka Australian Salmon) after catching them for many years. I love Sashimi! Know what I will be doing with the next one I catch! Thoroughly enjoying your channel…
The fish caught at 7:15 is known as a hiwihiwi. Other non-native names include eastern kelpfish and surgefish. Apparently the flesh smells pretty bad but I've heard of people that do eat them.
I've eaten them in the past, long time ago from memory they're ok similar to other local kelp fish but less bones. I do spearfish with a Japanese dude who does rate them mainly as sashimi.
Hey Taku, use way smaller hooks to get them. I think the stick bait profile is too big too. I tend to use mid size so that both kahawai and kingie takes them too. Easier to get them hook as well. Those size are much more suitable for boat fishing. Loving your NZ series tons. Please do more of this!
Actually just had my first athletic a few months ago that someone randomly gave me. First non- alcoholic that I'd ever had. And honestly didn't even notice a difference till I looked.
Every time my daughter and I watch your episodes we feel like we’re going on an adventure!!!
wow swimming out to retrieve is another level of dedication. respect.
Our new adopted kiwi Americans. Thanks for sharing and taking us on a journey in our backyard.

I admire your dedication to keep casting lures. After 30 minutes I give up and think just wrong lure or wrong time...

Find Gidos Fishing Adventure while you're out there! That'd be a great collaboration.

My grand father call them pecker, because when he was younger. every time they go swimming, those fish always peck at their testicle
Woof woof. Thumbs Up 👍🏾 Everyone
Just ordered some Athletic Brew, very intrigued!
you need to hook up with Milan and Nathan from the Lateral Line, Milan is the Kingi master in the Coromandel

The background is insane
I’m new to the channel, when’s a little adventure in Hokkaido 😀
That is my favorite method to have sushi, wasabi and soy sauce. Heavy on the wasabi and a very cold beer.

I was always told to let the sinker hit the bottom, that's where the fish are.
Actually just had my first athletic a few months ago that someone randomly gave me. First non- alcoholic that I'd ever had. And honestly didn't even notice a difference till I looked.
Big kingfish you say… you need to catch up with Big Angry Fish/The Lateral Line
Try eating blue maomao ...fried in butter ...or smoked in a fish pie..
