I've been rocking a Galaxy Tab S6 with the SuperAMOLED 10.5" screen for 3+ years. It was a flagship in 2019 with a Snapdragon 855, 256Gb and 8GB RAM. WiFi-only, that works seamlessly with my Pixel 4a5G. I bought it specifically to fly my drone with a bigger better monitor than my smartphone. Tab S6 just got progressively better with each iteration of OneUI, now at Android 12 (4.1.1). Maybe my fav device, was a mint/new refurb with warranty for $320.
Personally if I could give any advice is: get as much storage as you can seriously don't get anything in the double digits storage wise if you can get between 256gb and above great but at least get 128 seriously as someone whose used a cheaper iPad model as a daily driver and even to as a tool when I got into art school to work anywhere and on my desktop. Storage has been the biggest deterrent to my workflow over time and its made a huge impact on how I do things on my iPad it's gotten to the point were the awful 32gb I had were putting me at risk of losing progress on heavier pieces just because of file size and how it slows down the performance of my tablet. Please future-proof I've been using my iPad for 4 years and in the 1 year I've drawn the most and have used it to make assignments for my classes I now need an upgrade just because of this.
I finally caved and bought an ipad Pro 11" (etched screen). While I love the feeling of drawing on it, I absolutely LOATHE the ipad OS. It's clunky, user-unfriendly, counter-intuitive, restrictive and ugly. It's everything that I dislike about Apple products. I simply can't fathom how people use Apple devices on a daily basis. Even something as a simple as installing a font becomes a ridiculously convoluted task. It's an utterly absurd experience. If there was a comparitive Windows device, I'd jump ship in a heartbeat. If Adobe Fresco ever comes to Android, then I'll sell my ipad immediately.
I may be biased, but the fairly recent XP Pen Magic Tab has been a great product I've used so far. It is on the higher end ( I believe somewhere between $400-$500), but the stylus is very well designed and I feel is the Android equivalent to Apple's iPad and Pencil
Anyone watching this and are considering the s6 lite. Stay away from it. Don’t get me wrong it’s a decent tablet but it’s not very future proof. The 4 gbs of ram and 64 gb is realistically 2 gbs of ram and like 50 gbs. If you play games it’s only has 60hz and it’s not the smoothest experience. I ended up returning mine and getting the s10 plus cause it fit my needs better. Definitely go with the s9fe that usually on sale for around $329. Which is worth the extra cost from the s6 lite. If you want the full dex experience go with a renowned tab s8 that you can get on amazon around $340. I guarantee the experience would be much nicer.
What about the XP Pen Magic Pad. I'm finding it great for sketching and animation work, it's light and really fast. And it's got a massive wide screen.
Forgive me if you mentioned this and somehow I missed it in the video, but one thing to point out - the ninth generation iPad for $199 only comes with 64 gigs of storage. The Samsung I believe comes with 128 gigs and I’m not sure, but many of their tablets also have a microSD card so you can expand the storage even further.
I use the s9 fe plus and I love it, I use clip studio art on it and I bought a Dexnor keyboard for it and a wireless true bluetooth mouse and i play minecraft on it and it runs really smooth
i got the 2020 version 3 years ago + other than audio switching off when i went into ibis + screen ghosting, it still works perfectly fine. I'm upgrading to an s9fe now, but my sibbling's gonna take the s6 lite + hopefully it'll last them for another year or 2, we'll see
Yes it does , stay far away. Unlike apple . Android apps are not optimized for low ram amount. I have my ipad 2021 3gb ram . Procreate works like a charm . No performance slow down. But on Android, 8 gb should be the absolute minimum you should go to
A pencil, paper and eraser and a good course on drawing and shading, that's the best way to start, very old school, but you learn so much from doing that a year.
btw if you’re purchasing an m1 air or an older pro, you might be able to snag a deal on the Apple Pencil 2: both used and new ones often go for quite a bit cheaper than msrp as there aren’t any current gen iPads that support it
Seems like you are missing the Lenovo P12 tablet from your reviews. I believe it has a matte finish and a laminated screen. Can use it with the precision pen.
for art I don’t really use any of the features of the newer pencils. I’m pretty slow when it comes to drawing anyway, which might be part of it, but i generally just click the buttons and adjust everything on the screen manually. When note taking, I use the squeeze feature a lot to switch colors/tools (btw: for a great note taking app and a pretty good pdf viewer on the iPad, Noteful is amazing. The free version is alright, but Pro costs $10 one time, it’s great) but it never really comes in handy when drawing - too many options to choose from and modify for it to be useful.
I’m trying to choose between the Huion Kamvas 16 (2021) and the Kamvas 13 (Gen 3) which would you recommend I don’t really care about the size between the 2, just quality size which one you would recommend?
Hey would you consider looking at Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 2025? It is only 230$ with the pen on Aliexpress sales and it comes with a 144hz screen and Dimensity 8300 which is comparable to the Snapdragon 8 gen 2 of Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 ultra. I've also heard the pen improved dramatically too but I've been wanting an artist opinion about it. It's arguably the best value tablet right now
I would like to suggest if you could mention which variant to spend on. Also, is samsung tab s9 fe with 6gb ram and 128 gb rom paired with exynos 1380 processor good enough for drawing even at a tight budget???
The S9 fe has a newer processor and 5GB RAM, it will easily cope with drawing Apps. I have an S8 and that runs Godot / Clip Studio / Krita etc etc without any problems.
Great video Brad. May I also add the s7fe. It is available on amazon generally refurbished or if you dont mind used on Ebay. But the price is super low right now from what ive seen and its still a pretty powerful tablet right now. It doesnt have the juice others have obviously. But price to performance and the screen size to me may be worth it to kind of just get started.

I heard using Procreate app significantly drains the iPad's battery life, if so, does it affect an artist's workflow? like suddenly causing downtime (requiring you to set it aside to recharge first) at a time when inspiration n creativity strikes
Nah procreate is super optimised because it’s designed just for ipad. I just came back from an art class and procreate drained like 14% in 3hours on my ipad 10th gen which is great imo.
Find a Samsung Tab S8+ for a good deal (like $350-400) and you'll be set for a loooong while (like next 5 years with smooth experience throughout). If you go for s6 lite... well... it's not smooth to begin with, and it'll choke in a couple years with the way how software and internet gets bloated.
Hey Brad about the ai generated voice over... it is speaking in Hindi but the choice of words are too old. We don't use those words in our day today lives. Some of them I am not even sure what they mean.
For me, it's an iPad Air 13 or an iPad Pro 11 inch. I have had a Samsung S8 for 2 years now and the Art Apps are just not there I'm afraid. I don't like Krita or Clip Studio and I have a Universal licence for Affinity (not available on Android) and I like the look of Godot on iPad (Xogot) compared to the version sitting on Android.
@@-The-Golden-God- Having used iPads and Samsung Android tablets for years - it makes little difference to me. Android is just not getting the Apps that iPads get.

Accidentally/for error, I used another language for the video. Which sounds... not like you. So I was scared that you where "stolen" your yt channel. Glad is not the case.
I already have pass for galaxy s pen, galaxy s6lite, ipad 9. Seriously, the ipad and apple pencil bouth amazing. I recently swap my ipad 9 in a ipad 10, i hate that button, remindsme of iphone buttons broke all the time. If i knew the quality of the ipad and apple pencil in the beginning, i wouldn't have bought the previous tablets.
I always enjoy your videos but I notice you always place the caveat about pen tablets as something to steer away from. I don't think it's that hard to use them since most people can use a mouse pretty accurately without having to look at it. And let's not forget learning how to touch type without having to look at the keyboard. 🤔🤔 Just something I noticed. 😁😁
The IPad and Samsung tab are pointless for those who do art on the PC. The learning curve isn't that bad on the screenless tablets, and they don't break as quickly. Mouse users are already half the way there. It's the same in that you need to coordinate your mouse position with the cursor position on the screen. Also, once you learn how to use the non screen tablets, there is no bonus to having a screen tablet. Only down sides due to the added tech. If you don't want to do art on your PC, then the iPad or Samsung tab is fine to use. But you're limiting yourself.
I tried a screenless tablet and hated that not only I have to sit at my desk, but also have to stare at my monitor instead of screen. For me tablets like this are about comfort and seeing what I'm drawing, like with paper but better. I sold a screenless tablet. To each their own.
Agreed. Although I do have an S6 Lite (2024) and love it, I use a pen tablet on my PC. I do draw on my S6 Lite but it's also used for other tablet things when I am out and about. But I have little use for it once I get home with a full-fledged PC and 27-inch monitor.
@@youarebymyside Yes. I use both. When I'm at my desk, which is often, it's easier to draw sitting upright with a big monitor. When I'm away from my computer or want to be away from my computer, I use my S6 Lite.
Buy a PC thats the correct way. Also you don't need to pay for software most of them can be found pirated for Windows on certain sites that I can't name here 😂. Also Windows is a full fledged operating system so it will not cripple your creativity by not doing what you want it to do. If you already have a Samsung or ipad just get the Easy canvas app and then use those tabs as pen display for your PC.
Krita is literally free and open source too, so you don't really need to crack as a beginner! Heck, you can even still use krita for professional work..
@@BenMalas Unironically you can after all Mini PCs and Handheld PCs like Rog Ally exist. And those can literally charge using a smartphone power bank. So yeah PCs are still the best option.

I just wish ipad OS wasn't abysmal.
@@-The-Golden-God- Having used iPads and Samsung Android tablets for years - it makes little difference to me. Android is just not getting the Apps that iPads get.
AI Translated Audio is nice to have for people that don't understand english. Nice feature but where can I disable it? I know that I can change the audiotrack back to original but everytime I watch a viedo of yours I'll be greeted with a strange german AI-Voice. If I can't disable this feautre I will no longer watch vieos like this. It is to disdurbing and annoying.
As I watch all of your videos I will say that SAMSUNG TAB slite is your favorite.
Accidentally/for error, I used another language for the video. Which sounds... not like you. So I was scared that you where "stolen" your yt channel.
Glad is not the case.
Hey brad there is no link for the s9 fe
I miss the ending music XD
I already have pass for galaxy s pen, galaxy s6lite, ipad 9. Seriously, the ipad and apple pencil bouth amazing. I recently swap my ipad 9 in a ipad 10, i hate that button, remindsme of iphone buttons broke all the time.
If i knew the quality of the ipad and apple pencil in the beginning, i wouldn't have bought the previous tablets.
The main reason why I use iPad. Adobe Fresco 😂
But I have little use for it once I get home with a full-fledged PC and 27-inch monitor.
used a screenless tablet for a few years before getting a Samsung tab + it has definitely helped me a lot
@@youarebymyside Yes. I use both. When I'm at my desk, which is often, it's easier to draw sitting upright with a big monitor. When I'm away from my computer or want to be away from my computer, I use my S6 Lite.
Bummer, I got 3 s6 lites 2022.
can you make a discord server pls
I recently buyed GAOMON graphical tablet 🔥🔥

Affordable pc / laptop + graphical tablet is the way to go ...for me

Is NA4C vide comine
Buy a PC thats the correct way. Also you don't need to pay for software most of them can be found pirated for Windows on certain sites that I can't name here 😂.
Also Windows is a full fledged operating system so it will not cripple your creativity by not doing what you want it to do.
If you already have a Samsung or ipad just get the Easy canvas app and then use those tabs as pen display for your PC.
Can you take your PC to bed or in a corner table at your favorite coffee shop?
Krita is literally free and open source too, so you don't really need to crack as a beginner! Heck, you can even still use krita for professional work..
@@BenMalas Unironically you can after all Mini PCs and Handheld PCs like Rog Ally exist. And those can literally charge using a smartphone power bank. So yeah PCs are still the best option.
pc are still expensive
@@Testingflirt You can literally make one under $180 😒 BRUH STOP LYING. ALL YOU NEED IS GOOD ENOUGH CPU WITH INTEGRATED GRAPHICS, ATLEAST 16GBs RAM, AND A 1TB STORAGE, YOU CAN GET A BOTTOM OF THE TIER MOTHERBOARD, CASES AND POWER SUPPLIES ARE CHEAP, CHEAP DISPLAYS CAN BE FOUND ANYWHERE, BUT SINCE YOU MIGHT ALREADY HAVE A TABLET YOU CAN REUSE THAT, NOW JUST BUY A TABLET OR REUSE YOUR SAMSUNG OR APPLE TAB. THERE YOU GO PROBLEMS SOLVED.
JUST SAY THAT YOU GUYS ARE LAZY CUZ IF ANYONE GAVE ME THE OPTION TO PERMANENTLY OWN A COPY OF CSP EX I WOULD HAPPILY GET A PC SINCE CSP IS JUST THAT GOOD. BUT I GUESS THE US IS TOO MUCH POPULATED WITH IPAD KIDS 🤣. Btw you can add a GPU WAY DOWN THE LINE WHEN YOU FINALLY HAVE EARNED SOMETHING OR WANT TO PLAY GAMES TOO SO YEAH PCS ARE STILL BETTER
👍

Использовать яблочный карандаш для рисования в 2024 году это в целом плохая идея, независимо от его модели.
