I didn’t know that! I need to see old joy. YLT also does music for some of the painleve films also on criterion. They are underwater films about ocean life from the 40’s, pretty cool if you haven’t seen it
@@mitchellbarry8019As well as Painful and And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out. All three are some of the best indie rock and pop you can listen to imo
Comforting to see Yo La Tengo is still around. Seen them live for the first time back in 1992 when they opened for My Bloody Valentine. MORE musicians doing "closet picks" please.

Wow, I want to see the Criterion version of "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", I had no idea THAT movie was given the full Criterion treatment! I always thought of it as a guilty pleasure! I feel strangely proud!
Besides being a fine film, I Wanna Hold Your Hand has the striking distinction of having quite a large number of actual Beatle tracks playing throughout the movie, I highly doubt any other scripted film has even close to that many (I'm not just talking about Beatles songs now, I mean their original recorded versions). These days even if The Beatles reps allowed it it would cost a small fortune to get it done.
They have done numereous film soundtracks, but it's worth mentioning that the parents of drummer/vocalist Georgia Hubley were animators John and Faith Hubley. ruclips.net/video/0SvwDef67Wk/видео.html
Did Criterion release 'the Uninvited ' ? It's the best Ray Miland movie. Did you know Ray Miland was the personal guard for the Queen in Buckingham Palace. ?
There should be more lesser known comedians who do a lot of sketches and commercials in the closet. Maybe ones with large tiktok followings who have large physical media collections. And host a wrestling podcast. More of those. 🥺
Yeah .. because they are the right choice to this kind of thing.. the laidback attitude of “ I was just bicycling here in enjoying a organic smoothie with strawberries and listening to this podcast from a left wing comedian and is a little bit sleepy because I just got finished reading Anna Karenina by Tolstoj and listening to this new feminist lesbians indie pop band I found in the record shop yesterday and got little late because of that plus that organic wine which was perfect to that vegan dish we got while watching Breathless.. “ that the people they want .. because that is the people who watching this program wants or something like that..
Nice to see them going ”deeper into movies” :)
I couldn’t love Yo La Tengo more than I already do 💜
Yo La Tengo did the soundtrack to Old Joy, also in the Criterion Collection & a personal favorite 🤟❤🤟
Amazing film that not a lot of people talk about

That movie is bold and subtle at the same time. Very interesting framing.
@@jimreplicant They Shoot, We Score (rad title) has all their soundtrack work from four films (Old Joy, Junebug, Shortbus & Game 6)

I adore Yo La Tengo. Their film selections are sublime.
Amazing choices from a band that I must take a listen too. Great choice on Tokyo Story and I Wanna Hold Your Hand.

Does this mean there'll be a Jean Painleve Blu-ray upgrade???
They have good taste in movies!
more like that, people we like who are not in the movie business, talking genuinely about films
Makes me wanna find all the films they scored.
