I apologize for my absence from my channel as of late. In July I became severely ill from black mold toxicity which ended up with us having to abandon our apartment and lose everything in the process down to the clothes on our back. I'm now settled in a new place but the neurological effects are still effecting me so going forward it will be a challenge to be as productive as I have been on this channel. The hope is that with time those effects will wear off but there is no time table and some don't recover. Worth pointing out DTS Virtual X and Dolby Virtualizer sound different because they are upscaling the content, the 360 Spatial Mapping is more accurate I believe and I have run multiple scenes vs friends 5.1.2/7.1.2 systems and 360 is placing sound in the correct places in my room - effectively recreating those systems. The other two are putting them in other places in the room, probably due to the upscaling.
Do you ever plan reviewing the theater quads? I would be interested in a comparison between the quads with a sub vs the bar 9 with a sub and surround speakers
I'm trying to see if I can get them but have to wait on Sony to see if it's possible.

Im convinced for 1200 dollars you are way better of getting the Q990 from Samsung. Same price, comes with subwoofer and surrounds included. And the bar itself also has more drivers.
Would definitely love to see a review of the Samsung 990C or 990D to compare with this setup. Hopefully you can get your hands on the surrounds and a sub for the Sony as well to see how much better that makes it. I would also be very interested to see how the new Sony Quad system with a sub would compare.

Just got a brand new q990c for under a grand. Comes with a sub and surrounds and sounds awesome. I think Sony needs to create a better value bundle with a sub and surround speakers.
@@brunan-gi147 True but it is a pretty horrible looking sound bar and rears, my partner was happy for me to spend more money to have a more aesthetically pleasing system. :D

@@rafael6693 The samsung soundbars are in a league of their own. Watch Andrew Robinsons review of the new Q990D. They are absolutely incredible, with more total drivers, both in the bar itself and with surrounds. I have the Q990B and i have not heard a better soundbar for movies and series.

i own the Samsung HW-Q990D which is an incredibly good product. I wonder how this Sony Bravia 9 bar compares though. There's always fanboys that will say this/that brand is better than all others just because they have always had that brand. Have you been able to compare this to others like the Samsung? i've heard, like you said, that the Sony is really good even without the rear speakers. For me personally though, those rear speakers are a must have. Great video. (edit: By the way, my mom also has Meniere.. sometimes so bad she can't even get out of bed, she will fall as everything spins. Luckily it doesn't always persist. comes and goes. She has medicine that's supposed to take care of the nausea but they don't really work all that great, had to drive over last week in the middle of the night because she fell pretty bad.. very annoying disease, especially when you lose balance going up or down the stairs)
Do you have any recommendations for headphones for TVs that support Dolby Atmos? I prefer using headphones rather than a soundbar

The most killer setup out of a sound bar currently is grouping a Sonos Arc system + 2 rear Era 300 + Gen 3 sub, with another 2 front era 300 + gen 3 sub. The grouping of them works phenomenally and the sound I get is out of this world...
I would love to put them up against each other but unless my channel gets as big as Andrew Robinson my pockets aren't that deep lol

I bought the sony ht a7000 with rs5 and sw5. So should I upgrade to ht A9000. Is it worth it.
Because I haven't heard the a7000 it would be hard for me to say how much better it could be.
If your buying this soundbar make sure that your Sony TV does not make a hissing sound from the tweeters, when using the TV as a center speaker. It is still is a common issue across the world with the J, K and L series. I bought an X90L TV from a company that had good customer service and returned both the TV and Soundbar. Some people unfairly notice after its too late to get a refund. Appareently many have had the motherboard changed but sometimes it doesnt work. Sony are terribl for sending out so many faulty unit and not being honest and recalling them because there are so many TVs out there with this fault.

@gemjarv No one else in this comment section maybe, but its definetely on other videos in you tube and the Internet. There's no reason to lie that's there's loads of people experiencing this issue. If I don't here/see of any 'acoustic centre sync hissing' issues with the latest gear I will take another chance.

I’m guessing you did not use a 4K Blu-ray to test that sound did you? Because you’re talking about streaming when you mentioned avengers. Anyone that’s gonna invest this type of money into a sound bar is going to want the premium experience when it comes to sound and you’re never going to get that from streaming. so what was your experience like with a Blu-ray or 4K Blu-ray in terms of sound? This type of sound bar is the type of town bar that is targeting movie enthusiast they’re not ever gonna stream know your audience.

I don't see why not. The only thing that wouldn't work is the ability to use the TV speakers as part of the center speaker image, other than that you should be good. Bonus points should you use my link!

I don't understand the point of these expensive soundbars. Spending this much is more than mid tier tv's. It's insane.
I'd personally go for a receiver and speaker setup which is what I have but if you've got the money and just don't have the space or don't want all the components a soundbar of this quality is worth it imo. It WILL make a substantial difference if you want that home theater sound vs tv speakers.
Keep in mind here that 80% of the experience that you have from watching a movie is derived from the quality of the audio. This is why people will often spend FAR more on their audio setup than they will on their TV. The quality of the audio literally MAKES the experience!

As far as soundbars im soundbar worn out I'm going to buy real speakers 🔊 with a real good wired powered subwoofer.

Apparently these 2 new Bravia bar 8 & 9 do not use the TV display like the HTA-3000/5000/7000 did. I guess it us easier to use the app than hunting for remote.
We have the HTA-3000 on my wife's TV.

I'm really impressed with it so far and really like the Acoustic Centre Sync which brings another dimension to the sound stage.

@@paulpoco22Hello Paul, don't know where you got your information from but it's wrong. I have just bought and set up the Bar 9 and I can change all the same settings that are in the app using the quick settings menus on the TV screen. In fact this is my preferred method for adjusting the sound. 😊

The bravia theatre quad 🙌
That soundbar was great but adding the sub separately was rather disappointing. Sounded like it had a blanket over it every time I tried to use it. JBL, Bose, and Sonos subs are all way better but the soundbar itself smacks around the competition.
if you were impressed by this you should really review the Sony Home Theater Quad...it's amazing

Yes. I just got to hear that at a Sony event the other day and was absolutely blown away by it. When they say that a $2,500 Sony Theater Quad system matches the performance of other similar set-ups priced at $25,000 from other companies, they aren't kidding. It's THAT good. If you are looking for really immersive surround sound system the Theater Quad literally takes the cake. It's one of the most impactful surround sound setups you can by - at ANY price.
I would reccomand going with Aktive speakers at the price of 1,4k just get some KEF's and upgrade them when you feel the need or Nubert, canton what ever you will be happier with those than with a standalone soundbar tbh
Cambridge Audio min22 plus Cambridge audio subs and a budget available received much better value
The soundbar alone was 1k on amazon when I got it a few days ago. Besides the app, it comes with a small remote.

Only issue I have with Sony is they lack a competent rear speaker compared to the era 300s
The Era 300s are great, but as rears they alter the surround sound quite dramatically in a way that is different to a traditional rear surround speaker, which has resulted in many preferring the more neutral, directed and unaltered sound of Era 100s as their rear option. They are great but they take quite a bit of getting used to, particularly if you have had a dedicated AVR with speakers. The Sony RS5's are now far more competent and better integrated with these new Bar 8/9. I have the 9 with RS5s and a SW3 and it is superb with the RS5s now performing like a traditional rear, except with the bonus of an upfiring driver to simulate ceiling speakers.
