Thanks lol. I almost did put it up but I held back. I actually cut a lot of his stuff. But he WILL be back in more episodes as a regular. They are just time consuming to shoot. 😂
WAIT WAIT WAIT.... 4:50 He forgot to sit down while forging.. And since he's a master he should have at least two strikers doing the hard work 🤣 Jokes aside, great work!! Always enjoy a good cane sword video, it came out looking sweet! Lovely damascus and clean fittings. Cheers!!
Thank you brother. Yes you right, especially old men like me. 😂. Hey I’m about half way through you’re build and I was smiling the first 30 seconds in. Love it!
Very nice work, and an interesting take on the challenge. As a man who has carried a knife in some form or fashion since I was about 6, walking hiking and camping I can appreciate having the blade with you like this. I often joke that I'm 40 going on 80 y/o particularly these days due to a chronic illness. Because of that illness I carry a can with me at all times when I'm not at home and frequently while I am at home, I could appreciate having it with me.
Thanks! I’m in the same boat my friend but I’m over a decade older than you and I feel it every day. I too was raised with knives on my hand. They have always been tools I used everyday whether fishing, hunting or chores around the farm. When I was in school, teachers would borrow our knives for a task. Them days are long gone! Thanks for watching. 😁
Excellent video, lots of information on the build process and materials. Awesome build idea with the hidden cane blade. The finished product came out looking really great, good work!
Thank you my friend. I appreciate the kind words. It was a fun build and Bubba enjoyed it too for the most part. He’s off on another adventure right now. 😂

Any time BRO I enjoyed watching the samurai come to life. There one of my favourite swords. And very expensive to buy. I didn't know hear in London UK you need to own a licence to buy and own a real samurai sword. And thanks for your reply bro I appreciate it
@ryanmcgrath339 thank you! Yeah the world has gone crazy for sure. Tools we use everyday to eat with (not swords) are also demonized. The knife is the basic tool of mankind for ages.
Ain't that the truth bro. I'm a knife collector and I can't buy no good I'm up anywhere. I might get lucky in a flee market. But I can't buy no benchmade knives because they always get sent back. If got about twenty knives what iv collected
I freakin *LOVE* this video… and *ABSOLUTELY ABHOR* the way RUclips volume boosts its ads. I have this playing on a Bose speaker. So I’ve got the volume up to where I can hear the video, but then… an ad runs… and the volume of the ad in comparison to the video is *ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS.* Som’bitch bout blew my right ear drum out just now.
@@TonySeverioKnives it’s cause they wanna suck the dicks of their advertisers, but never their content creators. Typical soulless corporate entity behavior. Lol
Why didn’t you Tig Weld the Copper instead of futzing around with the soldering. Thin copper stock just uses Argon for shielding Gas no different than welding steel or aluminum, thicker copper requires an Argon/ Helium Blend or even pure Helium for really thick copper. Now for Filler Metal you can just open up some Romex Electrical Wire that you might have and use the bare ground wire as the Filler Metal as Electrical Wire is always virgin copper and will be very clean/ pure.
Yes I could have tig welded it. I tig weld aluminum, brass and copper all the time. But if I would have done that, someone would have said I should have soldered it the traditional way. 😂
@@TonySeverioKnives Tig is a stronger bond but many people don’t know you can Tig Copper. I do understand the traditional aspect though but you were were already veering off traditional anyway with the build so don’t think that would matter. Nice build though, so far one of my favorites from anyone who isn’t a judge
@peltiereric6497 yes it’s much stronger but it’s never going anywhere. I was also soldering it to maybe help other makers on how it’s done. Many makers can’t weld or tig weld. But the tensile strength is very acceptable. I appreciate your feedback and thanks for watching. 😁
LMAO. no one expects anyone to make a Japanese blade the "Traditional" way. going out and getting chunks or raw iron and forging those is archaic. That being said. it is super lazy work to just get a flat bar and shape a blade out of it. so, thank you for being "traditional" enough to make your blade out of a billet.
Actually it’s starts with iron ore not chunks of iron. But that being said, it is way more efficient to use well refined bars of steel that is far superior than any medieval steel. It’s like using an iPhone instead of sending a letter. I call it smart not lazy. But thanks regardless.
This is one of those ridiculous comments from an armchair warrior who has never made anything in his life. Go back to your couch and leave the smithing to the rest of us.
@@TonySeverioKnives yes. Thats what i meant. But yours is a more accurate description. What i meant was that you arent just shaping a single bar. You are cutting and stacking which is like folding. Others will just cut and hammer a bar into shape. When you do this, there is no Hamon (pattern). And it is less durable. Even I could cut a bar into a sword and grind it down. It is lazy.
I like your work. I would say that your idea of a hidden tanto was quite interesting. Some viewers like your "clown", I must say that it's absolutely stupid and that it takes away from your work . Also, it's insulting and inconsiderate from you to make fun of people who are born with this condition. I do like your work, but do you need the "clown" to attract attention? Please make fun some other way.
Thanks. I think you may have misunderstood who the "clown" is in this video. The clown is the audience purist or TROLL. Those who liked it, including two of my Japanese friends, GOT IT. Thats who the clown is directed to...not a culture or anyone born a certain way. My connection to the Japanese culture is long and respected. I have played this character in two tv shows and one feature film for sci fi channel. You can search me on IMDB for reference. He was not created for THIS video. Hès also been in other episodes of my RUclips videos, has his own channel and Facebook page. I respect that you may not like the character, but you are dead wrong on it insulting or being inconsiderate to anyone. Thanks for watching..
@TonySeverioKnives I have read and still don't quite understand it, with that said I do respect your work and will continue to watch and subscribe to your channel. Holy smokes! That's really nice work, sir! 🫨👍 It kind of reminds me of the nodachi sword from the movie "blind fury" with RutgerHauer. Always wanted that sword ever since I seen that movie 😏👍

One of my favorite builds so far. Something about a weapon hidden in plain sight just makes my inner child giggle. Great work.
Thank you my friend, it was a fun build. 🙂
As far as alter egos go, you give Scooter from Kentucky Ballistics a run for his money.

BUBBA'S BACK!!! Awesome Tanto!!! I'm totally building myself a bamboo blade walking stick one of these days!

I'd prefer a longer (Zatoichi style) medium sword
I hear ya. The guy that bought it wanted a tanto so it worked out great! 🙂
As long as the design is of the traditional shape, I still consider it a Japanese style Tanto.
