    Those look like a native mulberry that grows here in Missouri. We have several varieties that have different shapes of leaves. They are all mulberries. Each produces different fruits. Some great others not so much. It looks like your tree”s graft for the white mulberries didn’t take and you got whatever root stock mulberry the white one was grafted on to. We have had that happen with peach trees we ordered. Frustrating when you get peaches that never grow big and don’t ripen correctly.

    Hello Danny and Wanda, mulberries around here are just about as invasive as kudzu. We can’t cut them fast enough. Every single one has the small lobed leaf, in fact I’ve never seen a mulberry with a long leaf before. Toughest tree there is. If you cut it for firewood, in the spring our wood pile starts growing mulberry sprouts.
    Keep making videos. We love them.

    Danny when I was a little girl everybody had an old pear tree at the back of their farms. I tried to find out what kind they were, but nobody knew. They were so hard but so good when they were canned.

    • @almostoily7541
      @almostoily7541 2 месяца назад +1

      We always call them canning pears 😂
      My dad had a huge tree that succumbed to a storm several years back. It was the only pear tree my pawpaw was able to start from seed. He gave it to my dad when he bought the property in the seventies. I cried when it died.
      We have one here at hubby's family homestead. It's really old and I have to keep the suckers from taking over. Parts of it are starting to die. We keep nursing it along.

      @almostoily7541 Not proud of this so bear with me. I have a twin brother and it was our job to make sure the chickens were put up at night. Needless to say we would busy playing and forget the chickens. The chickens would use that old pear tree to roost in. So we would use the pears to knock them out of the tree. Like I said, I'm not proud of it,😊. Lord, you could not the back window out of a car with them pears they were so hard.

      @@junkinjodi lol
      Until we had a dog that would kill our chickens, we let ours roost in the trees at night.
      Now they are confined to a pen.
      My little chiweenie puppy follows me inside but she doesn't dare even chase them. She gives them a wide birth since the roosters let her know whose house it is 😂
      I laugh at the bees every year when they suck the rotten pears under the trees. The squirrels take a bite or two and drop them and they ferment. I used to throw them over the fence to the cows but we don't have cows anymore so they ferment.
      It's so funny.

I`m trying Cape Gooseberries this year for the first time and finally got over a dozen growing after numerous pest attacks and very slow germination. Maybe the armadillos won`t destroy everything again this year. I got mint oil and a huge bag of red pepper to hopefully repel them.

I’ve noticed some years the berries look like tiny knots and other years the berries are bigger.

    It just looks so cold there this morning. We have had some beautiful warm days, but we're going backwards again. Expecting a foot of snow in the mountains. Ugh!!!

    I miss my loquat trees from my old house. The bees and other pollinators loved their blooms. My mulberry tree has the same leaves as yours. Little black berries too. The birds love them!
