Good day from Kamakura, Japan 🇯🇵! I just planted my onion starts last week and am hoping for a good harvest this season. I’m hoping for all sizes, big and small, for various uses. Have a good week everyone. 🤩🐶👍🏾
Love seeing the onions coming out of the ground. Even better seeing you both enjoy the porch at the cabin. Thank you for a nother inspirational video. Hope all have a great week.
I’ve been watching y’all’s videos for days. There is just something soothing listening to you two sharing your world with us. I have a small farm here and love it with my whole heart. I just wanted to let you both know you’ve been helping me with a bit of anxiety I’ve been enduring. Thank you very much. You two are like the best grandparent ever. ❤ bless you both.
I grew onions for the first time I pulled mine last week. They were falling over the reds got real big, but my whites got small pulled over 175 onions. Definitely thankful for that.
Your channel has helped me grow my first decent garden Small but decent. Raised beds almost exclusively. I just cut up my first red onions ever. Many thanks from north Texas
I have onions in the ground right now. I'll have to go check on them. Very busy this year, I kind of plant and go. Your videos keep showing me, or reviewing info I've been shown before, what I need to do. After about two or three years, I will get it straight. Thanks 👍👍👍
I just got my onion sets in - yes I’m late lol. But, been converting my ground garden to all raised beds with very dark black organic garden dirt. Plan is to put tops on the 12x4 beds for plastic and / or shade cloth use.
MR Danny and Miss Wanda, Those are some really nice looking onions. Thanks for walking this community how to tell when they are ready and how to dry them out. We appreciate your knowledge and sharing it with us. Blessings
Mr Danny and Ms Wanda you guys do an amazing job with your garden and deepsouth homestead and pecan Grove I live above the 35th parallel in Ontario Canada I've built a greenhouse simular to your high tunnel just not as long I'm hoping to build a longer one your videos give me so much incouragement to work on these green houses because of the weather in my area in my videos last year I grew inground and in containers and in the greenhouses I'm hoping to have a good success rate this year thank you so much for your videos ❤❤❤take care stay safe and God bless from my crooked little homestead
Good Morning and Happy Monday DSH. Onions are looking excellent. Hopefully everything else grows as well as your onions. Stay safe up there and keep on growing 🤠.
Nice onions, I just got my shipment from Dixondale a few days ago. I live in New York State, so we plant in April and harvest in September. We are "long day" onion people up here, LOL.
Hi Danny and Wanda. You have some wonderful and big onions in spite of the freezes. Yours are huge. I have some huge ones I grew inside and waiting for them to cure now. I didn't think of the leaves telling how big and how many layers. So good to know. Your so blessed with this onion harvest. It sure is looking beautiful there. Everything is behind here due to weather roller coaster ride but I'm getting there with things. Thanks so much for sharing and rich blessings to all you put your hands to.
It is 4/24 and 50 degrees. I am late on everything this year. Other things come up and I will still finish my planting. It has to warm up for me. Good to have a minute to catch up on you 2. GOD bless and stay safe.
I grew onions for the first time last year, and I could literally "smell" todays video! LOL! Thank you again for sharing your homesteading experiences with all of us. You have a beautiful property.
Rabbits are looking good. 😊 My onions are about ready to pull. Freeze hit them hard so mine are gonna be small but like you said thankful for what we get.
I planted some of these , hope they turn out .mine in the orange sandy dirt .110 days from now I'm gonna be cutting it close? .. Tuscaloosa AL ... your my time stamp .. thanks
Those onions look amazing! We were between 70-80 degrees about 3-4 days ago and today and yesterday we were under a freeze warning. We still haven't planted anything as of yet. This rollercoaster ride with the weather has been crazy. Even though some have started planting around here, I have held off because I just new we were going to have a couple more freezing temperatures. With today being 28 degrees I was afraid to even put my grapes and blueberries in the ground. I'm excited to see the rest of your yield. Thank You for sharing. Much Love from our family to your family 💞
Good morning Danny and Ms Wanda! Those onions look good. 🙏 We all have a good harvest this year, considering the crazy "weather" all around us this past winter and this spring. ❤️
I started my own onions for first time but also got my normal order from dixondale as well just in case mine didnt work out.. I planted them outside today and in the greenhouse as well.. fingers crossed.. yours look amazing.
Great onion crop, growing from seed is the way to go if possible. I planted short and intermediate onions and they are starting to bulb. Hopefully I am dialing in on growing them successfully in my area.
That's interesting, Danny. I save all our eggshells, toast & crush them, and put them in the rows when I plant. Onions, garlic, tomatoes and peppers at least. That doesn't seem to be quite the same as calcium nitrate though.
My daughter was born almost right at 6 hours before the time on your watch on Wednesday at 12:08 here in lucedale. Love watchinh your videos and learning from y'all. Have a blessed day.
Nice looking onions. I put the little ones aside for shish kabobs and chunky relishes. If I have more, I freeze them for roasts and soups in Winter. Our favorite tho is shish kabobs.
My seed started onions were beautiful until freeze but I still harvested nice ones. Planted bought transplants to be sure I’d get some onions also. Onions did pretty good in spite of cold weather here in Louisiana.
Danny here in central VA when should I start seeds and when to put them outside. Also I think you need to add a book on growing onions to go with carrots, peas and sweet potatoes!!
It depends if you are in zones 6 or 7. You will probably need intermediate day variety. Check out hills mill homestead Mr Mickey a friend of mine is in Tennessee. He grows onion's very well in zone 7.
Danny, if properly cured, approximately how long in your experience will onions keep on the shelf? I sure wish that I could afford a freeze dryer… 🙏🏻 praying to make it happen some day. Thanks for another great video. Have a blessed week.
Awesome onions. I successfully grew some bulb onions for first time & just pulled them this weekend. Definitely appreciate the videos & you'lls knowledge. Have a Blessed day.
I have put out onions about 200 plants. I have some bulbs that I need to stick somewhere for green onions. Living in the city it is hard to find space, but a lawn with grass is overrated. LOL
Danny and Wanda, I have realized that the way your videos come up on my screen your livestream vids are separate from regular videos. I have missed many livestreams. So to everyone, check out the livestreams! If they do not come up on the screen, you have to look for them.
Lovely!! Thank you for explaining the curing process.Still a beautiful harvest. Here in NH I'm planting from seeds right now, and the peas have started pushing through the soil. WooHOo
Thank you both!! I learn something from you every video. Never knew that the tops determine onion layers. Mine are just about ready to pull also. Love your praying tree ❤
Hey y'all morning, Question: I'm fixin to get my onions in soon. We gotta grow long day onions in Minnesota. I am wondering would it help to add some sand to the area where I'm fixin to plant the onion starts. It does have some clay there and I add manure compost every year but if I add the sand will it let the onions push out and get a little bit bigger? I do have the fertilizer schedule down well I use a schedule a mix of yours and the OAG's schedules and it works well just wonderin about the sand amendment. God bless y'all be safe bye for now

Congratulations on your onion harvest. Those must have been some determined little onions.

Gardening is very therapeutic.
Nothing wrong with those onions right there! The ones I grew from seed this year did better than the plants I bought.
I'v always had better success with seeds myself.
I grew onions for the first time I pulled mine last week. They were falling over the reds got real big, but my whites got small pulled over 175 onions. Definitely thankful for that.
Awesome job

Congrats! Excitingly waiting on my first "from seed" onions too. So satisfying!

Very nice onions! I'm growing mine from seed for the first time this year and hope they do as good as yours.
I chuckled when you said your "elderly neighbors". It seems like 'elderly" gets older, the older I get. It just keeps moving out farther ahead of me.
LoL you're right.

Blessings sweet folks and thank y'all, julie
Great onion crop, growing from seed is the way to go if possible. I planted short and intermediate onions and they are starting to bulb. Hopefully I am dialing in on growing them successfully in my area.
Use calcium nitrate two inches out from them to get an extra boost in growth.
@@DeepSouthHomestead thank you. I just ordered two bags.
That's interesting, Danny. I save all our eggshells, toast & crush them, and put them in the rows when I plant. Onions, garlic, tomatoes and peppers at least. That doesn't seem to be quite the same as calcium nitrate though.
