- As most of my friends know, IRL or online, #Control is a game that consumed my life when the pandemic hit. It spoke to me in a lot of ways and the game quickly became a favorite of mine.
It was also the FIRST Remedy game I played.
I was able to catch my reaction of the first time seeing and playing through the Ashtray Maze sequence on stream and this genuinely was my favorite memory playing this game. I had no idea this song was made for this game until the song progressed and it's truly a top 5 gaming moment.
I could probably talk about Control for hours... maybe I'll do a deep dive into it one of these days for a video!

Man... Control is just a barrel of surprises. I didn't expect much at all heading in initially. It easily became a favorite.
@@chaoticlizsama I expected SCP meets Warehouse 13. Close enough. Main character is a little wooden, but gets better as the game goes on. The director is great through and through.

This maze is meant to be played at rush speeds, chaining your movements and attacks to "flow" through the level, and experience the culmination and sense of awakening of Jesse's character... it truly is a magnum opus experience in gaming... the entire games pacing and reluctant heroine attitude of the protagonist sheds off and the bird soars... truly a definitive and unique experience...
I think that's why I hate watching people play games. The song start and they stop and try to listen to the song and it messes up all the timing. I feel like in alot of games the makes try create a flowing experience, but streaming has made people play to an audience instead of just flow with the natural way a game is played
@@prettzx my thought exactly as I watched. Actually playing and jamming while effortlessly plowing through the enemies and the House bends around me was one of the best gaming moments of my life. Watching her tiptoe through a rock ballad was rough
@@sciguy98agree 100%. The music is good, but it’s better in the environment. It’s like pausing a movie every two seconds to admire the background. You lose the impact by doing this. It’s lame.

We really did. I've been wanting to do another nostalgia stream since this, only to go back to more nostalgia. I may do that since this video always brings back the best feels. With some gameplay as seasoning, of course 😂
Poets of the Fall wrote this song specifically for this game. It's a special one in sense that the song will adjust to your playing speed. If you play through the maze faster, the song will be shorter but you will not hear the seams.

I had the same reaction. Streamers and youtubers are so desperate to let people see that they are enjoying the game instead of just actually enjoying it
The best part of this is how unexpected it is, and the feeling you get on the first time when you have never played or seen a video of it is awesome….. the only downside is when it’s not played correctly. Like standing still or not going forward fast enough on a few parts, where the visuals match the changing of the room in the moment. The song has loops to give aid in the experience, but, like for example, the slow part with the whole wall moving forward or when it goes into steps at a part, it throws it off. I’m trying to find a video where it’s done perfectly, just because I like watching this from time to time. I tried to watch a speed run, but I didn’t like it, because the song changes too fast. The best experience on this is playing it perfectly the first time you ever play it, when you’re surprised by it. All in all this is one of the top video game moments I’ve had. 10/10
I tend to go looking for people's reactions to this scene, and yours is probably one of my absolute favorites.

Poets of the fall need to get more credit. They made this song in a way so the game could make it fit the state in the game. Even loop it on certain stages when you take longer. It always feels like it was meant to be exactly as it plays but it never is.
Yes, the song extends if you stay in a certain place longer, it is so cool! I absolutely loved this stage in the game... I've been itching for a replay.

Me too! I've genuinely never experienced a moment quite like this in gaming before. Props to Remedy, the excitement I have for more musical moments in Alan Wake 2 is killing me 😂
