Have you ever considered adding clean water from the top while draining the media and maybe adding some air from time to time while cleaning. I noticed you clean each barrel twice, but the water clarity doesn't seem very clean. Maybe consider cleaning it more than twice.
It’s almost impossible to completely clean out the media with two cleaning cycles but it’s sufficient to maintain the crystal clear pond and to keep the system going until the next cleaning time.
K1 is ok but I think I would like K2 better as it has more spokes (5) to trap more dirt/debris. However only K1 was available in my area and I had to order K2 from California via eBay. So I only use K2 in second barrel.
Hi from AUSTRALIA I've had trouble with turning the pipe valve on and off (arthritis joint pain) either draining or slowing down the water flow on my pond pipes so I made up a PVC pipe with a T handle cut out knotch that matches the valve handle, so easy now to turn off and on now.! what's the Vacuum? is it blowing air out to agitate the media?
It’s the shop vacuum/blower. Yes, the blower option was used in the cleaning process.
