I rest on the day the Lord rested after he created life on our planet--the day he rested again after he had redeemed Adam’s rebellious race. AND I think it would be better to be a protestant who believes we are saved by grace alone through faith alone than to rest on the day the Lord rested and think I’m better than those Christians who work on that day. The sabbath is the rest we enter as we learn to trust the Lord. The sabbath DAY is a God-given symbol of that relationship of trust. Some Christians avoid work on the day the Lord rested and do so as a symbol of not working for our salvation. The true church consists of all those who are learning to trust the Lord, regardless of our denominational affiliation. Which is another way of saying that, although the church may be organized (and I think it should be organized) no organization of the church IS the church. Whether to stop drilling for oil is a political question that should be discussed in the political arena. I believe for a man to lie with a man as with a woman is not only a sin but an especially egregious one. To suggest that any civil government should enforce a religious prohibition is exactly the opposite of the way I understand the third angel’s message.
Roger Metzger - So you have been duped to believe, unfortunately. Read and really study God’s word and you will know the truth. That is believing in Jesus - Trust and obey. If we can’t keep God’s commandments here and now, with his power of grace working in us and through us, we won’t be restored back into the image of God - hence, we will not receive citizenship in Christ’s kingdom. Believing in Christ means we BELIEVE he will have the Holy Spirit lead us into all truth and give will change our selfish hearts into one of love - just like God’s. We cannot keep breaking God’s 10 commandments - His universal and eternal laws if we want to live in His kingdom.
