    I've been trying to get the SOSPES knife for a few years now. I guess LT is no longer making these Tarzan-type knives which is a real shame!
    Please let LT know we would greatly appreciate him putting this beauty back in production and if you're wanting one please let LT know it!
    Just looking at the SOSPES knife makes me feel like fighting an alligator! ( I NEED A SOSPES!)

      Battle Horse Knives, a sister company to LT Wright Knives, makes a knife similar to the Sospes. I say sister company because Blind Horse Knives used to be a knife manufacturer that split into two companies: Battle Horse Knives and LT Wright Knives. Also, I'm not sure what the relationship is with the Pathfinder Knife Shop and Battle Horse Knives but PKS also makes a knife called the Mountaineer, which is very similar to the Sospes, for Self Reliance Outfitters. I'm inclined to think that BHK consulted or designed or helped manufacture the Mountaineer for PKS until PKS built up their facility to do it themselves.

    I own this knife, and it is the real deal for sure. The only draw back is this thing will rust like nobodies business due to it being O1. I had to end up putting a patina on mine.

    • @SurvivoTek
      @SurvivoTek  4 года назад +1

      That's definitely a drawback to any tool steel, but if you're ok with a little patina, then it can be a wonderful metal to work with. I really like O1. Most of my knives are in it.

    Love the review! How is the high scandi edge holding up? I’m looking for a large Bushcraft/wilderness travel knife and this seems to fit the bill.

    • @SurvivoTek
      @SurvivoTek  3 года назад

      Thank you so much! I appreciate the support. I thought the high scandi held up great during the testing process. All scandis can be "fragile" because of the nature of the grind, but LT usually does a minor buff edge that creates a slight secondary convex to strengthen the scandi. Hope that helps!

    I had this knife and sold it because to me at least the handle is too short and too thick . Making this knife not well balanced all the weight going to the heavy too thick blade. This put a lot of strain on my hand when chopping at thick pieces of wood. It just was not right for me though others may like it and everyone is different . To me the handle of the knife is real important so I will stick with my LT Wright GNS instead it does all I need and is comfortable to my hand.

    • @SurvivoTek
      @SurvivoTek  5 лет назад

      I really appreciate your comment, my friend. Some people have a tendency to get upset when others have a differing opinion. I love my GNS and use my Sospes for heavy work, but you're right. It's a bit heavy and stout for a lot of fine tasks. Thanks again for the comment!

    I had a sospes, literally just sold it in the POUT HOUSE. Its actually a really big knife that can do small tasks. In one hand I'm kinda sad I let it go, but in another hand I REALLY wanted another 3/32nd AEB-L next gen !

    • @SurvivoTek

      It's one of those blades that is so underrated and so useful! I did the same thing a couple years ago. Traded my original for another knife but regretted it soon afterward. I'm lucky to have regained this one. I've never worked with a Next Gen or AEB-L. Heard great things about them, but never had the opportunity. Thanks for the view, my friend!
