Aww this was me and my brother's first real roller coaster. We rode it over and over and over and over :) I hope to ride it again someday to relive the memory
The steel ones are newer and smoother so that's why people tend to ride them than the woodies. They think the wooden roller coasters are too old and rickity and some of them actually have the reputation of being rough.
I dont know much about the smaller Ohio Valley/East Ciast parks, but this park looks slammin'. Best woodie I have seen in a while [keep your comments to yourself]. Great job.
I just rode this ride on Saturday and it was awesome! I'm so glad I over came my fears and broke my promise because this ride was the best that I had time to ride.
Went on this yesterday with my little sister. It was her first roller coaster xDDD we both loved it and for a wooden coaster, it really isn't all that bumpy.
This is my all time favorite roller coaster. It's "relatively" smooth for a wooden and the 1st 2 drops are sheer fun!! The only one I'd compare it to is the demolished Texas Cyclone.
Hmm there is a wooden rollercoaster in the great escape park near me in New York called the comet. It's from the 1940's. Favorite rollercoaster of all time.
My mom got on the comet last year all by herself. I was so proud of her. She got on the very last cart, thinking it would be the safest place, but actually it's a place you don't wanna be if your sensitive to roller coasters. So by the time the ride was over. My mom was on the bottom of the cart in armadillo position screaming to the top of her lungs. -___- an older lady turned around in her seat & asked my mom "are you ok???"
this one doesn't look as steep, but you're right about it hurting I tilted my head for a second on el toro and it was stuck like that for the whole ride
My first roller coaster. My wrist hurt for a month after my trip to Hershey. Pretty sure this ride is the reason because all I rode after this was Great Bear and went to the water park. This coaster had so many drops and it jutted you around so much. I wasn't expecting it at all. Also, if you wear glasses, DO NOT wear them on this ride. I was too focused on keeping them on my face cause they were so close to falling off EVERY second of the ride. And with all those repeated drops. It was awful 😂 People say it's a great ride for beginners. If you wanna get used to the drops, I guess it is. But I will never forget my first roller coaster. That's for sure. 😂
@Jakethesnake340 That's a good thing, Jake! Air time on the Comet's backside bunny hills used to be so much better, before the lame lapbelt and tighter seat padding of the last decade. You got a small taste of the good ol' days!
athletichic2012, this was my first coaster also but that was back when it was still at Crystal Beach in the early 60's. In those days this was a heck of a scary ride.
This was my very first coaster!! I rode it on saturday And i was amazed, Lol i knew what a rollercoaster felt like but that first drop got me for shock, i didnt know it would go that fast lol and the second drop, i feel sorry for my cousin his first roller coaster was the farenhiet so we had to tell him that he shouldnt of started of on a very big coaster. it was a little rough for me but it was a load of fun..
This was the first roller coaster I ever went on as a kid. I remember explicitly because going over the first hill I was excited about my first ride...but when we went over the first lift hill, and down...at the bottom my head snapped forward, and my face hit the lap bar. My hands covered my aching face the rest of the time. Hated roller coasters ever since lol.
today was my first time ever being to Hershey Park and my friends and i rode it and it was RIDICULOUS! the first drop freaked me out but the rest of the way i was laughing hysterically more than screaming!! :D
Well, what I meant by saying Comet is smooth, it's smooth compared to most wooden roller coasters of Comet's age. I've seen videos of El Toro it looks like it is really bumpy and rough.
One of my first coasters... I almost wanna see what Rocky Mountain Construction could do with their hybrid track/construction on this coaster, but at the same time I might cry if they messed with it.
@jean3tte i would say start with the comet. its a nice and easy coaster to start with. the airtime isnt really that bad. in my opinion, the comet is really fun. i used to be terrified of coasters but my brother in law told me just not to think about the ride. just think of the fun you will have. once you get on, you will have a blast. =)
For the classic wooden coaster feel: Ride this beast in the back, unbuckle your seatbelt when you reach the top of the lift. The ride's 3x more awesome.
It's just like thunder on lighting racer it's not like sky rush or great bear it's a normal roller coaster that I have never been on but I might try Thursday that's when I am going
Princess Sarah You should try it! Comet is a lot of fun and if you can ride Lightning Racer than you can ride this and also the same with Skyrush and Great Bear, you can definitely ride Comet.
I got scared of the Comet in Lake George and it's half the size of this one. That was 3 years ago on a band trip. My band it going again this year, and I've been practicing by going on Space Mountain in Disney World, Splash Mountain in Disney World, Thunder Mountain in Disney World (Lots of DIsney Coasters). And finally, my final test, was Superman Ultimate Flight at 6 Flags over Georgia. Since nobody would go on with me I had to wait an 1 1/2 hrs in line by myself and ride y myself. I'm Ready!!
@jean3tte oh and another thing. if you go on the comet, i like the front seat. if your not ready for the front, i would say pick the 3rd or 4th seat. i wouldnt chose the back beacuse i never really liked the back seats. i hope my advice helps. and if you did go or you are still going to hershey park, have a blast because its one of the best amusement parks ever. =)
I went on this with my cousin, and there's now a lap bar and a seat belt and we both went flying up from our seats into the seat belts and the lap bar. I guess i'm overreacting but i was a little scared though. Still an AWESOME ride though.

Aww this was me and my brother's first real roller coaster. We rode it over and over and over and over :) I hope to ride it again someday to relive the memory

This was my first roller coaster, and when I went on it I loved it!
Smoothest wooden ride I've ever been on! Worth the wait!
How come some people think wooden coasters are scary but love steel ones . Are steel ones super scary? I love the wooden ones!!
I wrote this comment back when I would NOT go on many big coasters. Now i love to do them all, especially the steel ones
The wooden ones are scarier than the steel ones.
The steel ones are newer and smoother so that's why people tend to ride them than the woodies. They think the wooden roller coasters are too old and rickity and some of them actually have the reputation of being rough.
I went on this ride before and it was...... AWESOME!!! thANK YOU Hershey Park for building this ride!!
I went here today for a field trip, this was my first big rollercoaster. I was scared as hell but I was confident.
Did you ride SooperDooperLooper too?
I just love wooden roller coasters. They are beautiful and remind me my first roller coaster, Stampida from Port Aventura :)
I love Comet. One of my favorite woodies.
I just rode Comet Saturday and there was nothing to it. I was suprised at how smooth that ride was. ♥ Comet and Hershey Park!
Thanks! I use a Flip Video, works great, especially in HD. Glad you liked it! The Comet rocks!!
I dont know much about the smaller Ohio Valley/East Ciast parks, but this park looks slammin'. Best woodie I have seen in a while [keep your comments to yourself]. Great job.
I love this coaster! Even though there are no corkscrews or loops, you gotta love the old fashioned wooden coasters.
Going to Hershey on Saturday...Getting on EVERYTHING
I Went on this at night when the lights were on, IT WAS BEAUTIFUL :D
this was the first rollercoaster i've ever been on. i was scared going on it. but now i love roller coasters
The Comet @ Hershey will always be my first love! Thanks for bringing back some awesome memorys! ;)

Mine too I was so scared but now I LOVE roolercoasters. Some reason some like pressure or feeling made me love them
Went on this yesterday with my little sister.
Awesome ride, dude! Great hand-held POV too, nice and steady!

Hmm there is a wooden rollercoaster in the great escape park near me in New York called the comet. It's from the 1940's. Favorite rollercoaster of all time.
I rode this coaster once, when I got off I felt like I was still moving LOL.

I get on the Comet everytime I go to Hershey Park (I only live an hour away) and the line waiting time is about an hour, but it is always worth it! :)

This ride is so awesome

We rode this ride 7 times. No joke!
This was my first rollercoaster, I remember my friend explaining what he wants to eat during the ride.
This was a good ride. For beginners

+Twin Street Girls Same.
Wooden coasters are always epic.
I went there last week!
i liked that ride.it was very simple.1st rollercoaster!the line was really fast,like 20 minutes.
@Jakethesnake340 That's a good thing, Jake! Air time on the Comet's backside bunny hills used to be so much better, before the lame lapbelt and tighter seat padding of the last decade. You got a small taste of the good ol' days!
man when you laugh its hilarious. plus love the rides. awesome view and stuff!
Comet's one of the greats, up there with Thunderbolt and the Beast!
Well, I think It's your hobby - riding rollercoasters in front seat with cam in your hand and enjoying the ride without screaming. Nice.
athletichic2012, this was my first coaster also but that was back when it was still at Crystal Beach in the early 60's. In those days this was a heck of a scary ride.
awesome ride! very smooth and having a single bar allows for great airtime 🖒
This was my very first coaster!! No. It was my first roller coaster and it was more fun then scary. I suggest going on the trailblazer and the wild mouse first though :)
I always enjoy a good wooden roller coaster. Though when looking up the lift I've always wondered why they don't straighten it out.
awesome this coaster kicks ass!
today was my first time ever being to Hershey Park and my friends and i rode it and it was RIDICULOUS! the first drop freaked me out but the rest of the way i was laughing hysterically more than screaming!! :D

It's a Classic!

Well, what I meant by saying Comet is smooth, it's smooth compared to most wooden roller coasters of Comet's age. I've seen videos of El Toro it looks like it is really bumpy and rough.
the first drop is actually the greatest.
I went on it in 2012 and I covered my ears and screamed
One of my first coasters... I almost wanna see what Rocky Mountain Construction could do with their hybrid track/construction on this coaster, but at the same time I might cry if they messed with it.

I'm deathly afraid of roller coasters but I'm going to Hershey park tomorrow with my school. I'm gonna try this one...I'll probably cry...most likely.
@Acmore2 Mine too and I still love it almost 20 years later!
My first roller coaster!!What made it scary was that you felt like you were gonna dive onto the water
It's just like thunder on lighting racer it's not like sky rush or great bear it's a normal roller coaster that I have never been on but I might try Thursday that's when I am going

This is the only roller coaster I have ever ridin. Scared the shit out of me and I haven't been on one since
I am deathly afraid of roller coasters but this one doesn't seem so bad, I'll go on!!
very good ride
Your POV's are awesome! Better than the ones that I've seen. What type of camera do you have?
my first coaster, it ruled
Great retro coaster. 80 years this one made the paying customers freak out. Imagine what a coaster will be like in 2090.
