I could ride this all day and never get tired of it. It may not be the tallest or fastest or steepest ride in the park, but it is by far the one I’ve always had the most fun on.

I've won every time I've ridden a racing roller coaster except for that time. I got my streak back at Kennywood a few months later.
***** I think more than anything with how those cars win is basically, which car has the most weight on it, so lets say Lightning has a full train and Thunder has about half, then Lightning will win the race, but if both trains are full it comes down to which train has the most weight on it. I've been on roller coasters by myself before and I know that it's stalled on me a few times and one roller coaster nearly got stuck and that's because at that point, I may have weighed 60 pounds, so it was like the roller coaster was running with no one on it.

This feels just like the first Cars movie! I recently went to Hersheypark to ride this ride before going home, and I rode the red Lightning train, and it was going against the green Thunder train. The Thunder train beat ours, of course, like how Chick beat McQueen--by cheating! Yes, I know it's not a real race thing, but that's what makes it fun. It's unlike any roller-coaster I've ever seen!

This is the wooden coaster(s) to go on at Hershey Park. So much better than that headache and whiplash inducing Wildcat and even though the Comet is good too, but this one (or two I should say) is by far the best in the park.
My dad, my sister, my brother, and I went on both of them for the first time today, all 4 of us got in the green one first and then we realized that the red one goes higher SO UHM- WE HAD THE TIME. OF. OUR. LIVEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
That's tough to say. I love both sides. LR is non-stop power, speed, and sweeping curves. If you twisted my arm, I'd say Lightning is a bit more exciting. But try both, and make your own judgment. Love to hear others' opinions here...
As I noticed earlier today, the thunder and the lightning cars always alternate wins. That was the case about all day (I was 2-0 on the ones I rode. Thunder early in the day, Lightning later on.)
Honestly my favorite ride. It's long, fun, and usually has a short line. Wildcat is more intense which I like but it's way more rickety than Lightning Racer.

the winners of the trains are predetermined by the park operators in booth... braking friction in the tracks and the chain drive speed on the climb up

The Lightning side is a bit longer then Thunder meaning Thunder always wins. Most of the time.
I think it has alot to do with the weight of the combined riders on each train. The heavier train wins. Usually.

I went on Lightning and I noticed the turns were more sharp and intense than thunder. I absolutely loved it! Sooo much fun! 🤩😁
