I just found your channel, I did alterations for about 15 years, but quit of having a lousy vision, I had surgery and can see better now and am loving this. This is great inspiration
Thank you for doing these hacks. It shows that these fixes can be done easier than I thought. My patches never look that good. Now I know to use a thinner needle and smaller stitches than I have been doing. I will use the skirt hack too. The sheer dress looked great. You are sweet to do a job in an hour. Tfs!
Congratulations momma! A big accomplishment for both of you❤ brought back memories of my make for my daughters grad…same story…last minute cause she couldn’t find what she wanted. And used similar fabric/colour. So pleased for you, a big step in the parenting journey 🎉
I subscribed a couple of days ago after the button hump jeans video. If all your video are as good as these your gonna grow so fast! I Loved these hacks/ alterations! The elastic one for the neckline is perfect! I have had dresses I got rid of after the baby darts just ruined the look of the neckline. As a hobby home sewer I don't always now the tips tricks and hacks bit I am loving your channel so far! You go girl! 💖💖💖💖💖
I loved the humor and with all the Cosplay happening you may have to welcome Martians, and Venetians sooner than expected. When altering a neckline using elastic, where do you begin the sewing and how far can you sew, without changing the grainline. I know it's different for each garment, but perhaps you can suggest a few rules to use/remember. I have some tops I'd like to try this technique on. Thank you for all these great videos.
I love your channel! I have learned so many new tips and tricks from you. I would love to share a tip that I was taught when doing a patch like you did in the linen trousers. Cut the patch as a rounded shape with your pinking sheers. Removing the corners help to make the patch less noticeable from the right side of the garment.
Very useful tips, thank you so much for showing all your tips and skills..... love your videos and all your alterations. It has helped me so much....🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️
This is great!!! I learned so much. I hope you charged the rush job extra i.e lack of planning on your part doesn’t make an emergency on mine. Or just tge “hassle tax”.
@@DowntownTailoring Dindog22 is correct, your excellent results and attention to details are worth so much more than just any tailor. Some tailors in my area do very sloppy jobs, and still stay busy. And they tell you up front, they aren't responsible for any damage that occurs. You are an excellent instructor and I am learning so much.
I think I like this elastic neckline fix better,. Yes it is easier, but I think it really looks better, maybe because the elastic is more fluid, it doesn't trap the fabric, or lock the fabric into one position, which if I had not seen on the first neckline fix, maybe it wouldn't have been noticeable, but on this elastic neckline fix, my eyes didn't sense something off. I hope this comment conveys my meaning. But as alway great job.
@@DowntownTailoring being large busted, I can really see the benefits in this method, yet I see your point about the other fabric. I wonder if elastic attached on the seam allowance would work on such fabric.
Do you have a video on how to tighten a sweatshirt-style cuff on a denim coat? Mine are so loose and I would like to fix them in an easy way. Thank you for your great videos!
I have to make a video about it. But, in the meantime, I can tell you that the best way to do it is by removing the cuff, opening it like a tube and then take in. Fold it again and sew it back to the jacket that you've already taken in too. I hope it makes sense. Cheers 🙂
Greetings I think the customer should have worn a nude bra for the first item. And would have like to see the loops put in the red coat. Great Tips. I do alterations as well and sometimes the customer wants a miracle.
Thanks 🥰 I asked the customer the same question and she explained to me that the nude color were even more noticeable and that's why she got a black bra. Today's industry does not cater very well to darker tones. Even my brown mesh aren't quite realistic 😕 This is something that for sure needs improvement. Cheers!
I know what you mean. It's because the bust piece only was cut to the weft. It stretch out vertically but not from side to side as the rest of the dress. I hope this makes sense. Cheers 🙂

I guess I need to order some size 11 needles. I am definitely going to use that mesh trick at some point. Also that elastic trick
Nice work

You are quite right. I do charge 15 to 25 percent extra fees. But sometimes I forget 🤦🏽♀️
@@DowntownTailoring I used to work at a place that charged a 50 percent up charge for same day work. Don’t cheat yourself

Yes! I use the elastic each time I can. In the other case, the material was so thin that the elastic was going to be too noticeable. Cheers 🙂

Yes. I really have to make a video about it. Stay tuned 😉
Please tell me about that video
Nice examples of hacks. Thank you! How often do you use the purple for venusians and green for martians! LOL!!
😆 🤣 😂 I still haven't had the pleasure, but I'm preparing myself for it!!!!

I used the button trick even though I have a Jean-a-ma-Jig
Sew did I🤗

The purple is for Venusians and the green for Martians???? ;)

Love your channel but that wedding dress looks like a nightgown
Thanks! And yes. You are right. This is a gown and she is invited to a wedding. Cheers!
The bust on that dress is so unusual and seems not very flattering
I know what you mean. It's because the bust piece only was cut to the weft. It stretch out vertically but not from side to side as the rest of the dress. I hope this makes sense. Cheers 🙂
