I feel with modern Smosh (Mythical-Era) They have moved from Sketch to a more improv style and honestly it works really quite well. The Funeral Roast series is probably the best series on the channel and they really hold no punches sometimes on there. Also Some of my favourite smosh moments come from the modern era, such as the 2 truths and a lie between Ian and his Ex Pam, "Hi I'm Big Bird and this is an alternate universe where I died in the Challenger disaster." and my favourite try not to laugh bit "nice night for a drive hey miss, tonight of course being August 31st 1997"
I agree. I've been thinking a lot back on this era of smosh and it reminds me a lot of what CollegeHumor became after they got sold by their parent company too, a much more improv based production that feels a lot more personality based, but it seems like with Anthony back they plan to pivot more towards sketch comedy, which I'm pretty excited about.
Old Smosh is good, new Smosh is good, I'm excited to see what the future holds where Anthony starts to be a part of the main channel as well as smosh pit
I'm a huge fan of improv comedy, which is definitely why I think I was able to still enjoy a lot of modern smosh as we. Each person is talented so they did not lack casting!
Post Anthony leaving I feel it still stayed pretty strong. The Cast that remained have really proven themselves and become staples of the channel. Shayne and Damien especially, though also can't discount Jackie, Amanda, Courtney etc.

Rhett and link buying Smosh touches my heart tbh they were friends and Ian and Anthony made a mistake and Rhett and link understood and did everything they could to fix the mistake and in many ways saved their legacy then when it was time gave it back to them and made millions of people scream in excitement and changed Ian and Anthony’s lives and legacy’s forever. Rhett and link are legends and are the Keanu of RUclips
While they did get the short end of the stick, I wouldn't be so fast to call it a mistake. Defy F'ed up BAD, but they also provided to jump in growth and production quality that Smosh desperately needed at the time. Over the years, they gave Ian (and the rest of cast/crew) the work experience in a proper studio environment to carry this forward after Defy's downfall. Had Ian and Anthony known better and actually accepted a big check for Smosh, I think things would have turned out differently when Defy failed. I'm not sure the drive to continue would really be there anymore. That lack of resolution is why they needed to come back and resume what they left just floating in the air. Just a thought experiment about how things happen in unexpected ways and how behavioral psychology plays a part in that. But yes, Rhett & Link are incredible people and I'm so glad they swooped in when they did. But that even furthers my point - would they have swooped in if Ian and Anthony had already been paid the big bucks for the company? Or did exactly how it turned out inspire them to "save the day"?
Come on dude defy media in the end gave us peak smosh. It wasn’t a mistake to sign with them. It was necessary for the survival (I know it’s ironic.) of the channel at the time.
I actually love the new age Smosh and the entire Smosh cast Shayne, Courtney, Olivia, Etc. are all great in my book and Anthony coming back is just like icing on the cake. Excited to see where they go from here and hope it’s good because the skit side of RUclips is kinda dead

Smosh was a huge part of my childhood. Me and my friends would watch their videos together, and it was fun as hell. I haven’t watched it in about ten-twelve years, but I’m glad they’re back together.

I literally remember paying to watch the Smosh movie when it dropped. They were so huge that even other classmates of mine were talking about their movie. Seeing them back together just puts a smile on my face even though we wont be getting old Smosh back. But old Smosh is meant to stay old Smosh. They're mature adults now and if they gave us old Smosh back it would be incredibly weird. Looking forward to seeing what they will do moving forward regardless.

Maybe even before (4-5 years old) even if it was not possible to understand the adult jokes, the facial expressions and execution's was funny anyhow...like random memes! The food battles were funny and the edits were epic; music was fun etc

I'm 26 years old and yet at my big age I might have been way too excited for two 30 something year old men and may have cried a little LOL. I stopped watching Smosh probably 2014 before Anthony had left a few years later, and found them again beginning of 2023 which ended up being the perfect year to rejoin the fandom! It also was nice to come back and see that the content had evolved,Boar try not to laugh, Funeral roasts and Board AF are all so amazing and have became my favorite. I love the skits they do on the main channel too, it brings me back to a simpler time in my life!
i started watching smosh specifically mainly smosh pit post mythical so i am very curious to see what actual smosh is like now. i do hope that smosh pit stays mostly the same and the main channel is where we get all this cool new old stuff. very exciting

as somone who actually grew up on smosh (they are older than me) i think that smosh is in its peak era right now we have the orginal type of sketch and the fun cast pit videos
The problem was they couldn't just make a new channel because the company was the owner of all the names, characters, and everything related to Smosh, besides, one of Anthony's biggest regret was that they sold the channel for only one dollar, so they didn't have actual income to buy the channel back, this is a big achievement in all fronts

I think food battles is only good if you watched it back in the day, especially their older ones, but the rest of it holds up so well and their newer stuff is all amazing too. Also, I’d say their first 3 most popular arguably hold up the best! Especially the assassins creed and Zelda songs

Of all the eras of smosh the very beginning and the current iteration are my favorites. Their continuous growth is awesome and i'm glad they could adapt over time. I think Stanz would be funny af on a smosh games or smosh pit vid
There is a sketch comedy group in Canada that does great stuff called Loading Ready Run. They have a twitch channel as well, but for a lot of it's life it was purely a youtube channel and doing skits. Somehow they were employing 3 or 4 people full time even before Patreon with just merch sales I think. They also do a fundraiser every Fall called Desert Bus for Hope that has raised millions for a charity that gets games and toys to kids in hospitals called Child's Play. They have at least one documentary about it. They also do a live variety show called Loading Ready Live I think monthly that is really well put together, some improv, trivia, and hot social media bits, and they put a highlight video from their month of twitch streams goes in the middle of that. Kind of would be sick to do a deep dive on them but they aren't very well known outside of pretty niche communities. Magic the gathering community knows them because they produced a long running The Office style show for years called Friday Nights. They have a lot of successful stuff working with Wizards of the Coast for magic. I'd say maybe a third or half of their energy goes into MTG content. Honestly Loading Ready Run might be TOO deep to do a deep dive on. They have quite a few really well loved series that they have retired. An british panel show inspired series called The Panalysts. A fictional town radio show called Qwerpline. A top gear inspired series called Road Quest where they take 3 cars with a driver and copilot who switch off and they drive up to the Yukon for a week. Road Quest especially is REALLY high quality.

I remember watching Smosh when I was younger and at some point I just wasn't all that interested. I recall just not being interested in the constant "Every BLANK ever" video. I will say that I absolutely loved their music videos like the Assassins Creed 3 one lmao. But I ended up getting back into Smosh like a year or two ago, and I honestly love the cast (+Tommy obviously lmao). I really like Smosh Pit, Eat it or Yeet it, the Funeral roasts and Try Not To Laugh are my favourite series for sure

There is a sketch comedy group in Canada that does great stuff called Loading Ready Run. They have a twitch channel as well, but for a lot of it's life it was purely a youtube channel and doing skits. Somehow they were employing 3 or 4 people full time even before Patreon with just merch sales I think. They also do a fundraiser every Fall called Desert Bus for Hope that has raised millions for a charity that gets games and toys to kids in hospitals called Child's Play. They have at least one documentary about it. They also do a live variety show called Loading Ready Live I think monthly that is really well put together, some improv, trivia, and hot social media bits, and they put a highlight video from their month of twitch streams goes in the middle of that.
Kind of would be sick to do a deep dive on them but they aren't very well known outside of pretty niche communities. Magic the gathering community knows them because they produced a long running The Office style show for years called Friday Nights. They have a lot of successful stuff working with Wizards of the Coast for magic. I'd say maybe a third or half of their energy goes into MTG content.
Honestly Loading Ready Run might be TOO deep to do a deep dive on. They have quite a few really well loved series that they have retired. An british panel show inspired series called The Panalysts. A fictional town radio show called Qwerpline. A top gear inspired series called Road Quest where they take 3 cars with a driver and copilot who switch off and they drive up to the Yukon for a week. Road Quest especially is REALLY high quality.
It's kind of disconcerting how much more forehead there is.

20:20 the problem with that is that sketch comedy isn't really as sustainable today as it was before and most views on the smosh channel come from their older videos (even new viewers), so making another channel would be the same as starting again

The background info presented in this video about Smosh Pit is wrong. Before becoming a channel for challenges and other stuff, it used to be an internet recap show (somewhat like =3) hosted by Mari Takahashi (AtomicMari).
It used to be something else before Mari Takahashi. The Smosh Pit channel used be called "IanH" and was a vlog channel with the series "Ian is Bored" and "Lunchtime w/ Smosh"

Something people forget is that smoshpit was a website first! My school computers blocked social media so I used to scroll through smosh pit that would have like viral videos and memes. I think that was around 2013
I know he lied just for the click bait but honestly anyone mildly successful on RUclips should probably be familiar with one of the most prominent channels of all time. Not to mention Anthony Padilla’s massive channel that has had a shit load of prominent guests on. I’m not even a huge Smosh fan - at least since back in the day.

I remember watching Smosh when I was younger and at some point I just wasn't all that interested. I recall just not being interested in the constant "Every BLANK ever" video. I will say that I absolutely loved their music videos like the Assassins Creed 3 one lmao. But I ended up getting back into Smosh like a year or two ago, and I honestly love the cast (+Tommy obviously lmao). I really like Smosh Pit, Eat it or Yeet it, the Funeral roasts and Try Not To Laugh are my favourite series for sure
