Measuring water levels without a water level sensor

This is an unusual approach to measuring water levels inside an enclosed underground cistern. Usually, you need to install some kind of sensor inside the cistern, but as I don't have access to an opening, I had to come up with a different way.
My approach reads the pressure (vacuum) on the suction side of the pump. The result correlates to the water level inside the cistern. This is the only way to measure the remaining water level without having access to the cistern itself.
