I love how Jeff Ballard and Edward Simon can't take the smiles off their faces watching the master at work. Listening to this stellar lineup, who wouldn't smile? (Except for the ridiculous missing audio)
Corea simulating himself on some cheesy digital keyboard (in the late 60s he had relentlessly worked on the Rhodes to create the incredible sound and intonation he achieved then). The rest descends into a boring, uninspired « latin » session, all the atmosphere and unique features of the composition are wrecked. The listless and crude way in which the theme is played is actually shocking.

wtf "I wish it could go on and on" she says, then just shut up! These people shouldn't talk over this, one of my favorite versions of spain. So smooth
Interesting arrangement - old dotted quarter becomes new half. Also Ballard cameo 😜
edward simon (piano) arranged this one. he's got a great story of how he showed chick the arrangement up in the dressing room.
SFJAZZ you guys rock hard. Look forward to what you're going to give us next.

I still like Sound drums from Eric Harland in Sf jazz collective
WTF with the interruption on the BEST PART of the arrangement!!
Andre Hayward is the trombonist from Houston, Texas
Chick corea: "What can you say?" He is the Curious Explorer.
Jeff Ballard on drums

trombonist is not Robin Eubanks.
Well... indeed Obed Calvaire is a black guy... Here, we've got Jeff Ballard, of course.
That awkward moment during the entire pitch wheel solo...
I can enjoy this video when playing at 1.25 speed
