Ana Raposo You are soooo lucky. We are 3 hours away from our nearest one. We’re looking forward to more normal visits spending the entire day including a meal at the restaurant. Thank you so much for watching.
Thank You! Most of it was pretty helpful. Explaining how to attach the last piece to pull down the shade would've been helpful. I can't seem to get mine to slide on. I don't want to break or tear the shade.
Mine came with mounting hardware. However, if you’re screwing directly into the window frame, I’d say you’re safe to use 2 inch wood (or drywall) screws. Let me know if this helps.
Doubt this will be useful to you now but for anyone else intersted, the dimension of the metal body is 58 mm in the horizontal direction and 34 mm in the vertical direction.
The blinds originally came with four 2-inch round head wood screws. If you are able to screw into the window frame (the studwork behind your drywall) and not have to use plastic anchors, then a 2-inch wood screw will work perfectly. Thanks so much for watching!
About 10 miles away from the New Haven IKEA. I happened upon your video as I searched for issues with the clips not keeping the shade from slider left or right (the same blinds a few years older in another room do not have this issue). Fortunately you mention pushing in or down on the visible clear clips. Thank you! On second thought I don’t see how the clear clips that are protruding from the front can do anything other than be pushed in which then releases the blind from the brackets. Definitely not as good a bracket as the former design for this reason and they push the blind too far away from the window. I rarely buy IKEA products but these WERE well designed in the earlier version.
@@FieldGuidetoDIY thank you! I ended up squeezing the top rails toward one another to shorten the distance between them slightly- this made the clips snug with the blind header. Appreciate your help!

I am trying to replace an old pair of Hoppvals and can't figure out how to get the old ones out of the bracket to put the new ones in. Is it possible to do that without having to replace the entire bracket?
Yes, the Hoppvals like the Trippevals should have a clear plastic clip the moves up or moves down releasing it from the bracket. Of course you have to take the valance off to see the bracket. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks so much for watching.
Great question Michelle. It depends on if you’re able to hit the stud frame the window sits in. While the blinds are not heavy, pulling them down to close them would right out of the drywall if they were not in the studs or attached with anchors. Thanks so much for asking. And thanks for watching!
Hi, any idea how to remove the blinds! In the middle of painting my room and do not want to unscrew them, is there a way to remove them without unscrewing them completely?? :)
Milly, you can pull the clear plastic clip (gently because they are PLASTIC) on each bracket to release it while you slide the blinds housing away the the window or wall. Then do the same with the other side. It is easier with the blinds up rather than hanging down. Let me know if you have any other questions.

@@FieldGuidetoDIY they state in the manual - "As wall materials vary, screws for fixing to wall are not included. For advice on suitable screw systems, contact your local specialised dealer." I think it would be weird to say they don't include them then include them.

M B, i do not recall if there is a tension adjustment in the mechanism. I would take it out of the bracket and and see if it is coiled around something inside. Let me know.
eliebellie Yes it is. You would just screw in using the holes on the back of the bracket as opposed to the holes on the top of the bracket as shown in the video. I guess I could have mentioned that. Thanks so much for watching.
@FieldGuidetoDIY IKEA's own video actually shows mounting on the wall above and not inside the frame. You seem to have plenty of space for mounting on your wall too? It would decorate your window beautifully and not let any light in from the sides. Sort of a light box. These blinds are currently on sale and I've got 20 windows begging. I think I might go for the wider wall-mounting, keeping my lamps and flowers in place. What do you say?

If the strings aren’t right, and I don’t know where this happened but I didn’t touch the strings and springs, the blind won’t retract. Mine has to go back and be replaced.
Isn't it mindblowing that I was just researching for a new set of bilnds then came across across this video which talks about the exact same set I was looking for lol... much appreciated for the content Side note: so this set is only for an inside mount setup? currently i have an outside mount setup with my old set of drapes..

Not mind blowing at all. That's how algorithms work. It's a double edge sword though. I you haven't watch "The Social Dilemma", then you'll be really mind blown by how RUclips and social media curates specifically for everyone.
Did you ever find out if it could be done as an outside mount on the window frame? I noticed your question was missed a few years ago. I'm looking at these blinds and found this video. I had the same question as you did back then!
Can you please tell me the part number on the bracket. I lost the brackets and chatted with Ikea support and he was unable to find the part number. LOL
IKEA state you should only cut back a blind a maximum of 200mm or 8 inch (100mm and 50mm on shorter blinds). I asked assistants in IKEA and they could not tell me why you cannot cut back an IKEA blind more than this. Anyone no the reason for this?
Sure thing, John. I believe any shorter and you will be interfering with the lift mechanism which is set in from either end. Please let me know if you have any other questions and thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for letting me know. That makes no sense. How does IKEA expect you to hang it then. Oh, they want you to buy their 100 screw hardware kit for the four screws that you’ll need to mount the blinds. Oh well, I guess that makes sense for their bottom line. Again, I appreciate you sharing and thanks so much for watching!

Not too bad. Depending on the item (especially furniture), I'd still recommend going in person as opposed to shipping. Thanks so much for watching and thanks for commenting.
Again? Dang it! I’ve heard of that more and more. Folks, when you buy IKEA blinds, open the package and make sure it is included. Some stores have started selling it separately. I’m sorry to hear this, Too Tired. Thanks for letting me know.
No screws so now I have to go to the hardware store to find out what size. Also your hand is covering much of the installation. I had to go back 5 times to see what you were doing. At least some detail on how the blinds slide in for us novices would have been helpful.
Sylvia, thanks so much for the feedback. I’m so sorry my hand was hampering the video. I may do a more focused version based on your feedback. Also, I’m sorry IKEA stopped including the mounting screws. They should include that on the packaging. I may change the name of this video to include "SCREWS NOT INCLUDED."
You don't NEED a drill ... but I like to drill pilot holes because sometimes you're screwing either at an awkward angle or you're screwing into the thin metal drywall corner. Let me know how it goes.

Wow! Very close. Although, I imagine it might be a little difficult to get some of the larger boxes (like the Pax closet system) home on the trains. Thanks so much for watching.
Oh no. There should be a coil that retracts the string in the case at the top. If, when you take the blinds down and draw the blinds up towards that case, if it doesn't retract, you may be headed back for a new set of blinds. Keep us posted on what you find.

Cath Herron Thanks so much for watching. Mark and mount the hardware I’ve heard screws are no longer included). Move the clear plastic clips. Slide in the blinds. Lock them in place with the clear plastic clips. Snap the pull ring. Thanks again.
If the strings aren’t right, and I don’t know where this happened but I didn’t touch the strings and springs, the blind won’t retract. Mine has to go back and be replaced.
Isn't it mindblowing that I was just researching for a new set of bilnds then came across across this video which talks about the exact same set I was looking for lol... much appreciated for the content
Side note: so this set is only for an inside mount setup? currently i have an outside mount setup with my old set of drapes..
modern picasso Absolutely! These are great blinds. So glad you found it helpful in your decision. I hope you find it helpful in the installation. Please reach out if you have any questions. Thanks so much for watching.
@@Mr-E. I ended up using a different set of blinds from Amazon. However I did buy Ikea double rods for the setup.
Can you please tell me the part number on the bracket. I lost the brackets and chatted with Ikea support and he was unable to find the part number. LOL
Which bracket? The center clear plastic one? The left one? Or the right one?
IKEA state you should only cut back a blind a maximum of 200mm or 8 inch (100mm and 50mm on shorter blinds). I asked assistants in IKEA and they could not tell me why you cannot cut back an IKEA blind more than this. Anyone no the reason for this?
Sure thing, John. I believe any shorter and you will be interfering with the lift mechanism which is set in from either end. Please let me know if you have any other questions and thanks so much for watching.
They no longer include the screws for the Hoppvals. 😞
20.1 Miles to the West Sacramento Ikea!
David Blackburn Lucky!!!!
31 miles from south suburbs of Chicago to western suburbs of Chicago in Bolingbrook
Man, that's close. There's a good reason we're 3 hours away from our nearest one. We'd be broke. Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you
You're welcome. So glad it helped! Thanks so much for watching!
17 miles / 20 minutes to me in East Palo Alto
Really? I would be broke if one was that close to me. While I’m not a fan of the particleboard, the engineering that goes into the design (all the way down to the packaging) impresses be. Thanks so much for watching. Thanks so much for chiming in. Let us know if you have any comments or questions.
Wish I was closer! About 100 miles to drive
About 65 km. In Odense Denmark 😊
Mange Tak.
Unfortunately like 20 miles away 😔 Thank you for the great tutorial, though!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for watching.
Nearest IKEA is 90 miles. And there were no screws included with the blinds.
Not too bad. Depending on the item (especially furniture), I'd still recommend going in person as opposed to shipping. Thanks so much for watching and thanks for commenting.
Yeah same
5 minutes in Toronto Canada :)
Nice! We’re 4 hours from the nearest IKEA.
A good 6 hours from my nearest IKEA
No screws were included in any of the five that I bought
Again? Dang it! I’ve heard of that more and more. Folks, when you buy IKEA blinds, open the package and make sure it is included. Some stores have started selling it separately. I’m sorry to hear this, Too Tired. Thanks for letting me know.
450 km in Edmonton, AB
Wow! That’s far. I bet you consolidate all your trips into just a few. Thanks so much for watching and for sharing.
Burbank, Ca Ikea 56 miles
No screws so now I have to go to the hardware store to find out what size. Also your hand is covering much of the installation. I had to go back 5 times to see what you were doing. At least some detail on how the blinds slide in for us novices would have been helpful.
Sylvia, thanks so much for the feedback. I’m so sorry my hand was hampering the video. I may do a more focused version based on your feedback. Also, I’m sorry IKEA stopped including the mounting screws. They should include that on the packaging. I may change the name of this video to include "SCREWS NOT INCLUDED."
45+ miles to the nearest IKEA
Lucky!
We are about 10 miles from an Ikea store
Nice!
180 miles in West Chester Ohio
Christy, right there with ya. We’re about 3 1/2 hours away from our nearest one. Thanks so much for watching!
Portland or 200 miles
Do you need a drill
You don't NEED a drill ... but I like to drill pilot holes because sometimes you're screwing either at an awkward angle or you're screwing into the thin metal drywall corner. Let me know how it goes.
Neareat ikea is 50 min to 1 hour drive which is ok for me
I’m afraid you have us beat. Actually we are taking another trip this weekend. Thanks so much for watching and for chiming in.
220 miles MPLS or Kansas City
Wow! That's a trip. Now if you have friends in the area, you could combine a visit and a trip to IKEA. Either that or you gotta love IKEA. Thanks so much for watching.
2 stops on the R/M trains
Wow! Very close. Although, I imagine it might be a little difficult to get some of the larger boxes (like the Pax closet system) home on the trains. Thanks so much for watching.
Nearest Ikea is 30 miles away, second nearest 33 miles.
thesingularity1 Let’s just say I’m jealous. Thanks for watching. Any other IKEA product assembly recommendations?
17 mile 😁
Lucky! I’m afraid we’d be broke if IKEA was closer. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. Thanks so much for watching.
The nearest Ikea is only a 30 minute walk
So walk longer IN IKEA than it takes to get to IKEA. So jealous. Thanks so much for watching.
@@FieldGuidetoDIY oh by the way. Thank you for your video. Followed your instructions and had the blinds installed in no time
Excellent! So glad it helped.
Nearest Ikea is 45 minutes from me
It must be nice. They were going to build one in our city but those plans were scrapped. Thanks so much for watching!
New Haven, Ct Ikea :)
Nice. I hope it's close to home (we live 3 hours away from the nearest IKEA)
3 streets down
😲😲😲 - lucky!!!
It doesn’t include screws anymore
I hate that. They now include them in the hardware kit sold separately at IKEA.
5 maybe 6 km from home
WHAT?! I’d be there everyday if I was that close. Thanks so much for watching!
Nearest ikea is 21 miles away.
I’m so jealous. We have two both about 3 1/2 hours away. Thanks so much for watching and chiming in Michelle!
MINE WONT GO UP WHEN I LIKE PUSH IT UP I THINK I BROKE IT LAMO
Oh no. There should be a coil that retracts the string in the case at the top. If, when you take the blinds down and draw the blinds up towards that case, if it doesn't retract, you may be headed back for a new set of blinds. Keep us posted on what you find.
@@FieldGuidetoDIY I FIXED IT you are a genius 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣
@@i2.0n.a Aw, you're so kind! I'm so glad it helped!
@@FieldGuidetoDIY What do you mean draw the blinds up?? Pull on the strings or pull the blinds up! Need a video on that!!😁😁

Like 2 miles, I can see it from my window lol
So jealous!

Almost 2 hours away 😢
Still a trip but I'd say well worth it. Thanks so much for watching!

kilian645 Very nice. It is probably a good thing I live farther as we’d be there every day. Thanks so much for watching!
The periodic clicking threw me off.
So glad it helped.
